  • FIG. 9 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing a flap being stretched between a bathing suit bottom and a bathing suit top.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 9 thereof, a new bathing suit device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 9 , the convertible bathing suit assembly 10 generally comprises a bathing suit top 12 that can be worn on a woman's upper torso 14 for swimming, sunning or staying cool outdoors. The bathing suit top 12 has a pair of shoulder straps 16, a pair of cups 18 and a band 20 extending around a lower threshold 22 of the bathing suit top 12. Furthermore, the band 20 extends around the woman's middle torso 24 when the bathing suit top 12 is worn. A plurality of first fasteners 26 is each integrated into the bathing suit top 12. The plurality of first fasteners 26 is arranged in a horizontal line on the bathing suit top 12 and each of the first fasteners 26 is positioned on an outer surface 27 of the band 20 of the bathing suit top 12. The plurality of first fasteners 26 is spaced apart from each other is distributed around the band 20. In this way the plurality of first fasteners 26 is distributed around the woman's middle torso 24 when the bathing suit top 12 is worn.
  • A bathing suit bottom 28 is provided that can be worn on a woman's lower torso for swimming, sunning or staying cool outdoors, and the bathing suit bottom 28 has a waist 32. A flap 34 is coupled to and extends around the bathing suit bottom 28. The flap 34 is positionable in an extended position having the flap 34 extending between the bathing suit bottom 28 and the bathing suit top 12. In this way the flap 34 can cover the woman's middle torso 24 in the convention of a one piece bathing suit. The flap 34 is gatherable into a stored position having the flap 34 bunched around the bathing suit bottom 28. In this way the flap 34 exposes the woman's middle torso 24 in the convention of a two piece bathing suit. The flap 34 has a distal edge 36 with respect to the waist 32 of the bathing suit bottom 28.
  • A plurality of second fasteners 38 is provided and each of the second fasteners 38 is integrated into the flap 34. Each of the second fasteners 38 releasably engages a respective one of the first fasteners 26 when the flap 34 is in the extended position. The plurality of second fasteners 38 is spaced apart from each other and is distributed around the flap 34. Additionally, the plurality of second fasteners 38 is positioned adjacent to the distal edge 36 of the flap 34. Each of the first fasteners 26 and each of the second fasteners 38 may comprise magnets, complimentary snaps or other similar type of releasable fastener. In an alternative embodiment as is most clearly shown in FIG. 7 , each of the first fasteners 26 may comprise a hook and each of the second fasteners 38 may comprise a hoop that can be suspended on the hook.
  • In use, each of the bathing suit top 12 and the bathing suit bottom 28 are worn for swimming or other activities. The flap 34 can be bunched into the stored position to expose the woman's middle torso 24. In this way the woman's middle torso 24 can be exposed to sunlight for tanning. The flap 34 can be pulled upwardly into the extended position and each of the second fasteners 38 is engaged to a respective first fastener 26. In this way the woman's middle torso 24 is covered when the woman is self conscious about her appearance or for any other reason.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
