Abstract
A rolling device having a conical configuration matched to receive a “cone” shaped rolling paper is provided. The top of the rolling device includes a flared or funnel like opening configured to receive the rolling material. The body of the rolling device is conical in shape and when the cone shaped rolling paper is inserted in the same, there are no spaces or gaps between the side walls of the body and the cone rolling paper. Rolling material is then inserted through the top end of the rolling device, and in some instances can be compacted using a separate rod or the like. Once filled, the bottom of the rolling device is removed, and the filled cone rolling paper is removed through the bottom.
Description
- The present invention relates to devices for rolling cigarettes or the like. More particularly, it relates to a rolling device for cone shaped cigarettes to be filled with tobacco or other smoking materials.
- Rolling devices for cigarettes generally include one or more rollers contained within a housing. A plastic material is positioned over the rollers such that the user can manipulate at least one roller position and create an opening for inserting smoking material. Once the smoking material is inserted, the movable roller is moved to close the opening and a piece of paper is then inserted and rolled into the machine to create the cigarette. These devices create uniformly rolled cigarettes and cannot be used for “cone” shaped cigarettes.
- According to one implementation, the rolling device includes a conical body having a lower end and an upper end. The lower end being narrower than the upper end so as to create a conical interior configured to receive a cone rolling paper. A first cap is hingedly connected to the upper end and configured to selectively close the upper end. A second cap is releasably connected to the lower end.
- In accordance with another implementation, the upper end includes a portion that is flared outwardly and which acts as a funnel when filling the rolling cone paper already inserted into the conical body. The second cap being removed from the lower end after the rolling cone paper has been filed with a smoking material.
- In accordance with one preferred implementation, the method for using the rolling device of the invention includes opening the first cap and inserting a cone rolling paper into the device. The second cap is positioned enclosing the lower end. The cone rolling paper is then filled with smoking material, and then the second cap is removed and the filled cone rolling paper is removed through the lower end of the device.
- Other aspects and features of the present principles will become apparent from the following detailed description considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. It is to be understood, however, that the drawings are designed solely for purposes of illustration and not as a definition of the limits of the present principles, for which reference should be made to the appended claims. It should be further understood that the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale and that, unless otherwise indicated, they are merely intended to conceptually illustrate the structures and procedures described herein.
- In the drawings wherein like reference numerals denote similar components throughout the views:
-
FIGS. 1 and 2 show perspective views of the rolling device according to an embodiment of the invention; -
FIGS. 3A-3E show the process of using the rolling device according to an embodiment of the invention; and -
FIG. 4 shows a schematic measurement diagram of the rolling device according to a preferred embodiment of the invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , therolling device 10 has abody 12 having a conical configuration with anupper end 14 releasably covered with acap 18, and a bottom orlower end 17, also with areleasable cap 16. In one preferred embodiment, thecap 18 is hingedly (19) connected to the upperopen end 14. As will be described in more detail below, the conical configuration of thebody 12 and the measurements of the same are integral to the proper operation of therolling device 10 according to a preferred embodiment of the invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 3A-3E , a cone shapedrolling paper 20 is inserted into the rolling device from thetop end 14. The cone shaped rolling paper has anarrow end 24 which can include a paper likefilter 25, and an opposing open end 22 that is larger than thenarrow end 24. Once the cone shapedrolling paper 20 is inserted into the rolling device through thetop end 14, the cone falls into the body such that there are no gaps or spaces between the paper and the interior side walls of thebody 12, and the top of the cone meets the bottom of the flared funnel like opening 15 at the top of the rolling device. - The user then inserts the rolling material 30 (
FIG. 3B ) to fill the cone paper. Since the conical shape of the rolling device and its inner dimensions are matched perfectly to the dimensions of the cone paper, the top of the cone paper comes to the bottom of thefunnel shape 15 such that when filling the cone with smoking material, no material can get in between the paper and side walls of the rolling device. - Those of skill in the art will appreciate that the filling of the rolling material can be performed in many different ways, including, for example, scooping the same from a pile using the upper funnel shaped
end 14/15, or simply using fingers to pick up therolling material 30 and drop it into the cone. Once filled, the user can use atamping device 32 to assist in compressing the smoking material within the cone paper (FIG. 3C ). - Once the
cone 20 has been filled with thesmoking material 30, thebottom 16 is removed from thebody 12, and the filledcone 20 is removed or pulled from thebottom end 17 thereof (FIG. 3D ). The user can then seal the upper end of the filled cone paper by twisting the same. - In the manner described above, the
rolling device 10 is simple to use, and enables the user to perfectly roll a cone shaped cigarette without any difficulty and without any moving parts. - An added advantage of the
rolling device 10 of the present invention is that it also doubles as a storage device for an already rolled cone. The top 18 is configured to seal the upperopen end 14 with a substantially airtight seal (FIG. 3E ). In this manner, the user can store the rolled cone and when they want to smoke from the same, they simply remove the cone, smoke from it, and if they do not finish, they can reinsert the partially used rolled cone back into the device and seal the same for later use. - As mentioned earlier, the dimensions of the
rolling device 10 are integral to the proper operation of the same.FIG. 4 shows a schematic diagram of the rolling device and its parts with dimensions shown in millimeters. These dimensions have been tolerance tested by the inventor and have proven to provide the best mode of operation for the rolling device and the associated rolling cones. One example of rolling cone paper best suited for the rolling device of the present invention is a brand called Jasal Classic. - As shown in
FIG. 4 , and according to one embodiment, theend cap 16 can be attached and removed to and from theend 17 of thebody 12 using a threaded connection. However, in accordance with other contemplated embodiments, various different methods and systems can be used to releasably secure thecap 16 to theend 17. In one example, a simple friction fit could be used. In other embodiments a bayonet mount can be used. - While there have been shown, described and pointed out fundamental novel features of the present principles, it will be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes in the form and details of the methods described and devices illustrated, and in their operation, may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the same. For example, it is expressly intended that all combinations of those elements and/or method steps which perform substantially the same function in substantially the same way to achieve the same results are within the scope of the present principles. Moreover, it should be recognized that structures and/or elements and/or method steps shown and/or described in connection with any disclosed form or implementation of the present principles may be incorporated in any other disclosed, described or suggested form or implementation as a general matter of design choice. It is the intention, therefore, to be limited only as indicated by the scope of the claims appended hereto.
