  • TECHNICAL FIELD
  • The disclosed subject matter relates to a ventilating shoe assembly and is applicable in footwear designed for running, sports, hiking, walking, and other related activities. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a self-ventilating footwear assembly that consists of structures on its outer surface and which provide ventilation and protection to the feet of the wearer.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Generally, traditional athletic shoe designs must balance many factors, including secure fit, protection for the foot, ventilation, and many other considerations. This generally results in tradeoffs between these features. For example, choosing a material that provides superior ventilation involves the construction of an upper and toe box from a thinner, more permeable material resulting in less protection for the foot. Designing a shoe for superior foot protection, on the other hand, generally involves the use of thinner, impermeable materials, such as thick leather or foam padding, which results in a less breathable shoe.
  • Ventilation and physical protection are important to the health of athletes' feet. Excessive sweating, whether due to exercise or medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis, can lead to athlete's foot and other fungal infections which can be uncomfortable and painful. Lack of physical protection for the foot, on the other hand, can result in direct injury to the foot and potential broken bones. For example, in the game of cricket, the ball may be bowled in such a way that it strikes the top of the batsman's foot. As the ball in cricket is hard and bowled at high speed, such strikes may cause significant harm to the batter.
  • In the case of typical shoes, because they are made of leather or synthetic resin, which is poorly ventilated, when a user wears the shoes for a long time, the space inside the shoes is heated and the shoes absorb moisture resulting from the sweat of the user. Thereby, mold accumulates in the shoes, thus raising problems of foot odors and athlete's foot.
  • Ventilation, i.e., the removal of excess heat and moisture from within the footwear, is one of the few areas where the performance of modern footwear remains unsatisfactory. Although there is an extensive prior art concerning the forced air ventilation of footwear, typical forced air ventilation systems are costly and difficult to manufacture, have poor durability or are otherwise incapable of circulating a sufficient amount of air to cool the wearer's foot effectively. The sweat promotes bacteria growth and results in conditions ranging from relatively minor foot odor to more serious fungal infections, including painful athlete's foot.
  • For at least the reasons provided herein above, there exists a need for an improved athletic shoe that provides both superior ventilation and protection to the foot of the wearer.
  • In the light of aforementioned discussion, there exists a need for assembly and method that would overcome or ameliorate the above-mentioned limitations.
