Abstract
Cigar holder having a punch which allows users to create a hole in the cigar to assist in air flow.
Description
- The present cigar holder apparatus relates generally to an improved cigar holder which is a conveniently carried device.
- For cigar smokers, a good smoke begins with punching a small hole in one end of the cigar. Once the cigar burns down to a nub of its original length, conventional cigar holders are bulky and inconvenient to use and the nub gets more and more difficult to smoke.
- What is needed is a conveniently carried cigar holder device which allows users to smoke the nub section of the cigar.
- The instant cigar holder device having a punch allows users to create a hole in the cigar to assist in air flow.
- It is an object of the present apparatus to provide a cigar holder which can be a conveniently carried device.
- The apparatus will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings, wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded front view of the Cigar Holder and Punch Apparatus. -
FIG. 2 is an exploded front view of the Cigar Holder and Punch Apparatus. -
FIG. 3 is a front view of the Cigar Holder and Punch Apparatus. -
FIG. 4 is a opened view of the Cigar Holder and Punch Apparatus. -
FIG. 5 is a rear view of the Cigar Holder and Punch Apparatus. -
FIG. 6 is an exploded view of the Cigar Holder and Punch Apparatus. - The present invention is a
cigar holder 200 which includes apunch 205 that allows users to create a hole in the cigar to assist in air flow. - As shown in at least
FIGS. 1-6 , iscigar holder 200 which generally includes acase body 201, acase ring 210, acase attachment loop 205, a case ring opening 230, a case body opening 250, arear cover 300, asupport ring 400, and apush button 500 attached to a surface of aholder bar 700. - Inside the
cigar holder 200 are a variety of components, as explained in more detail below, for securely holding a cigar (or other component to be held) in the case ring opening 230 when theholder bar 700 is translated to abut the cigar or held component. Particularly, where the instant invention refers to a cigar, it is understood the component being held does not need to be a cigar or other smoke related product. The product held must only fit within the structure of the instant invention in a manner suitable for the user. - In a non-use position the
push button 500 is positioned approximate thecase attachment loop 205 and thecase ring opening 230 is unoccupied. - In the use position, the cigar (not shown) (or other component to be held) is inserted into the
case ring opening 230 and thepush button 500 is pressed and translated within the case body opening 250 until theholder bar 700 abuts the cigar or component to be held. Once the cigar or component to be held is snugly abutted by theholder bar 700, thepush button 500 is released and theholder bar 700 continues to securely retain the cigar or component to be held. This allows cigar smokers to smoke the cigar down to a minimal length (a nub) without risk of burning their fingers. - To release the cigar or component to be held, the
push button 500 is translated to a position approximate thecase attachment loop 205 until the cigar or component to be held no longer abuts theholder bar 700. - As shown in
FIG. 1 , the components of thecigar holder 200 further includes a holderbar end surface 710 provided at a distal end of theholder bar 700. This holderbar end surface 710 abuts the cigar or component to be held when thecigar holder 200 is being used to retain a cigar or component to be held and wherein theholder bar 700 is configured to vary the size of the aperture opening which is formed between the holderbar end surface 710 and ring structure (400, 210, 230) and provides a variable aperture through which the cigar passes. - When the
cigar holder 200 is not being used to retain a cigar or component to be held, theholder surface 710 can be retracted into thecigar holder 200. - For use of the
cigar holder 200, theholder bar 700 is translated to abut the cigar or component to be held by pressing and moving thepush button 500 towards thecase ring 210. - The size of the aperture opening which is formed between the holder bar end surface (710) and ring structure (400, 210, 230) increases and decreases as the holder bar is translated via the push of the
button 500. - As shown in at least
FIG. 1 , on a proximal end of theholder bar 700 is a least one row of serrated spaced apartteeth 720 which move along with the movement of theholder bar 700. - Adjacent the
holder bar 700 is at least onelock spring 600 which engages holder bar serrated spaced apartteeth 720 as theholder bar 700 translates. As theholder bar 700 is translated, alock spring nub 605 on eachlock spring 600 seats within the spaces of the holder bar serrated spaced apartteeth 720 to incrementally secure theholder bar 700 in the selected position. - Each
lock spring 600 is positioned within thecase body 201 on an inner tab 215 of thecase body 201. - The flexibility of the
lock spring 600 allows thelock spring nub 605 on thelock spring 600 to seat and unseat within the spaces of the serrated spaced apartteeth 720 as theholder bar 700 is translated towards or away from thecase ring 210. -
Rear cover 300 encloses the translating and locking mechanisms of thecigar holder 200. Therear cover 300 is attached to thecase body 201 and also attached to thesupport ring 400. - More specifically, as shown in
FIG. 3 , therear cover 300 is attached to thecase body 201 by at least onescrew 310. - Further, the
rear cover 300 is attached to thesupport ring 400 bylock nubs 320 which seat in complimentaryshaped lock seats 420 provided on thesupport ring 400. - The
rear cover 300 may further include acover attachment loop 305 so that thecigar holder 200 can be attached to an external object such as a keyring (not shown). Thecover attachment loop 305, positioned at a proximal end of thecover 300, can also be configured to include acigar punch 330 having a punch spring (335), as shown inFIG. 1 -FIG. 6 . Thecigar punch 330 is aligned concentrically within thecover attachment loop 305 where a through hole remains for use in attaching thecigar holder 200 to other items. - The
case body 201 may further include acase attachment loop 205 so that thecigar holder 200 can be attached to an external object such as a keyring (not shown). - The
cover attachment loop 305, thecigar punch 330, and thecase attachment loop 205 align and provide the through hole for use in attaching thecigar holder 200 to other items. - Preferably the
cigar holder 200 includes both acover attachment loop 305 and acase attachment loop 205 aligned cooperatively. - At the distal end of the
cigar holder 200, thesupport ring 400 is aligned with and connected to thecase ring 210 and to therear cover 300 and retainholder bar 700 within the cigar holder. - It is understood this inventor anticipates the instant invention can be comprised of a variety of known material including, but not limited to plastic, paper, foam, natural materials, biodegradable materials, recyclable materials, metals, liquids, and tangible compounds as well as any matter in a permanent or transitory state.
- Further this inventor anticipates the instant invention can be made of clear material, opaque material, textured material, or reactive material (sensitive to chemicals, light, temperature, pressure, distance, or time) or a variety of known materials including wood, rubber, metal, or plastic, as well as from any suitable combination of appropriate materials.
- Further this inventor anticipates the instant invention can be made into a variety of shapes beyond the shapes provided in the Figures.
- While there is provided herein a full and complete disclosure of the preferred embodiment of this apparatus, it is not intended to limit the apparatus to the exact construction, dimensional relationships, and operation shown and described. Various modifications, alternative constructions, changes and equivalents will readily occur to those skilled in the art and may be employed, as suitable, without departing from the true spirit and scope of the apparatus. Such changes might involve alternative materials, components, structural arrangements, sizes, shapes, forms, functions, operational features or the like.
- Accordingly, the proper scope of the present apparatus should be determined only by the broadest interpretation of the appended claims so as to encompass all such modifications as well as all relationships equivalent to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification.
