Abstract

The present invention relates to a makeup applicator brush device for storing and dispensing a cosmetic/makeup product for application onto the skin of a user, thereby eliminating the need to carry multiple bottles of makeup. The device is a combination of a makeup bottle and a brush and features a reservoir for storing and dispensing makeup product onto bristles of a brush head. The makeup product is selectively dispensed upon either pushing a push button disposed on a wand of the device or by turning a connector disposed between the wand and brush head of the device. The device can be used for storing and dispensing any type of cosmetic formulation and allows for convenient, compact, and portable application in a singular brush.

Description

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/212,834, which was filed on Jun. 21, 2021 and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to the field of makeup brushes and application of makeup products onto the skin. More specifically, the present invention relates to a novel makeup brush that has an integrated reservoir that can be filled with liquid foundation or loose powder. The reservoir is configured to dispense makeup product to bristles of a brush area for application of makeup product onto the skin of a user. The makeup brush offers users an effective method to applying makeup and obviates the need to carry multiple bottles of makeup while facilitating smooth makeup application. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.

BACKGROUND

By way of background, cosmetics products, and specifically makeup products, have been used throughout history to enhance the visual appearance of users. Presently, the use of cosmetics for improving appearances for work, leisure, and other social settings is common and widespread. Besides general, everyday use, makeup is used to dramatic effect in fashion, theater applications and more. Makeup products include lipstick for enhancing lips, pencils to enhance eyebrows, foundation to even skin tone, concealers to cover blemishes, mascara for eyes and many more. Most of the makeup products are applied to skin using feathered brushes also known as makeup brushes. Brushes are in fact favored by individuals to apply makeup products as the brushes can be used for evenly applying makeup products of various forms. Makeup products in the form of a powder, a solid, a liquid, a viscous substance, and more can be easily applied by brushes.
Makeup products are generally commercially available in small bottles and containers. The makeup brushes are used for gently applying the makeup product on the face and any other parts of the body. Commonly, a brush is swirled into the makeup/cosmetic product, and the makeup product is gently applied after tapping off the excess makeup product from the bristles of the brush. Applying makeup products is difficult outdoors and during commuting as individuals need to carry both the brushes and the makeup product containers together. Conventional brushes do not provide storage space for storing makeup products and therefore, individuals need to carry separate makeup product containers. Individuals desire improved makeup brushes that can be used for both storing and applying different types of cosmetic products.
Therefore, there exists a long felt need in the art for an improved makeup brush that can be filled with a makeup product for direct application through bristles of the brush. There is also a long felt need in the art for a makeup brush that features a reservoir in the wand portion of the brush for storing and dispensing makeup product. Additionally, there is a long felt need in the art for a makeup applicator apparatus that does not require individuals to carry a separate makeup container. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a makeup applicator brush that can be designed for use with various types of makeup products. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a makeup brush that functions both as a makeup container and a brush. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a makeup brush that offers a way to effectively apply makeup and obviates the need to carry multiple bottles of makeup products.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a makeup applicator brush device. The makeup brush can be filled with liquid foundation or loose powder. The brush offers users an effective method to applying makeup and obviates the need to carry multiple bottles of makeup. The makeup brush further comprising a brush head consisting of a plurality of recessed bristles extending radially outwards from the brush head, a connector, and a longitudinal wand; a reservoir disposed inside the wand; the reservoir is configured to store the liquid foundation or loose powder therein; the reservoir is coupled to the brush head with a shaft wherein the shaft is used for carrying the stored liquid foundation or loose powder from the reservoir to the recessed bristles for applying and dispersing the liquid foundation or loose powder onto the skin of a target user.
In this manner, the makeup product applicator apparatus of the present invention accomplishes all of the forgoing objectives and provides users with a makeup brush that can be filled with liquid or powdered makeup products. The apparatus features a reservoir in the wand portion of the brush that can easily store and dispense makeup into the bristles of brush area. The apparatus obviates the need to carry multiple bottles of makeup and facilitates smooth makeup application.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a makeup applicator brush device. The makeup brush further comprising a brush head consisting of a plurality of recessed bristles, a connector, and a longitudinal wand; a reservoir disposed inside the wand; the reservoir is configured to store a makeup product therein; the reservoir is coupled to the brush head with a shaft wherein the shaft is used for carrying the stored makeup product from the reservoir to the recessed bristles for applying and dispersing the makeup product onto the skin of a target user.
In yet another embodiment, the makeup product is dispensed from the reservoir upon rotating the connector in a clockwise direction.
In yet another embodiment, the shaft extends from the reservoir to the brush head via the connector.
In yet another embodiment, the brush head and the wand are removably attached to each other.
In yet another embodiment, a makeup brush configured to store and selectively dispense makeup product is disclosed. The makeup brush includes a wand including a reservoir for storing a makeup product, a push button positioned near the top end of the wand, a suction pipe connecting the push button and the reservoir, a brush head consisting of uniform bristles for applying makeup product onto the skin of a user, a shaft connecting the reservoir and the brush head wherein the stored makeup product is dispensed from the reservoir to the brush head through the shaft upon activation of the push button by a user, and the dispensed makeup product is received by the bristles for uniformly applying onto the skin of the user.
In yet another embodiment, a door is disposed on an exterior surface of the wand to access the reservoir to refill makeup product in the reservoir.
In yet another embodiment, the brush head and the wand can be detached by rotating the connector three hundred and sixty degrees.
In yet another embodiment, a makeup brush that obviates the need to carry multiple bottles of makeup products is disclosed. The makeup brush includes a wand, a brush area having a plurality of bristles, a reservoir in the wand portion for storing and dispensing makeup into the brush area for applying the makeup product, wherein the makeup product can be dispensed upon turning or actuating a connector disposed between the brush area and the wand or can be dispensed upon pressing a push button positioned on the top of the wand.
In yet another embodiment, a method of applying a makeup product is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a makeup brush, the makeup brush is configured to be filled with a makeup product through the wand and dispensing the makeup product onto the face of a user; filling the makeup product into a reservoir disposed inside the wand; activating a push button disposed on the top of the wand to dispense the makeup product and to apply the makeup product onto the face.
In yet another embodiment, a method of applying a makeup product is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a makeup brush, the makeup brush is configured to be filled with a makeup product through the wand and dispensing the makeup product onto the face of a user through a brush head; filling the makeup product into a reservoir disposed inside the wand; turning or actuating a connector disposed between the wand and the brush head to dispense the makeup product and applying the makeup product on the face.
Numerous benefits and advantages of this invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art to which it pertains upon reading and understanding of the following detailed specification.
To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, certain illustrative aspects of the disclosed innovation are described herein in connection with the following description and the annexed drawings. These aspects are indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles disclosed herein can be employed and are intended to include all such aspects and their equivalents. Other advantages and novel features will become apparent from the following detailed description when considered in conjunction with the drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form in order to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They are not intended as an exhaustive description of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
As noted above, there is a long felt need in the art for an improved makeup brush that can be filled with a makeup product for direct application through bristles of the brush. There is also a long felt need in the art for a makeup brush that features a reservoir in the wand portion of the brush for storing and dispensing makeup product. Additionally, there is a long felt need in the art for a makeup applicator apparatus that does not require individuals to carry a separate makeup container. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a makeup applicator brush that can be designed for use with various types of makeup products. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a makeup brush that functions both as a makeup container and brush. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a makeup brush that offers a way to effectively apply makeup and obviates the need to carry multiple bottles of makeup products.
The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel makeup brush configured to store and selectively dispense a makeup product. The makeup brush includes a wand including a reservoir for storing a makeup product, a push button positioned near the top end of the wand, a suction pipe connecting the push button and the reservoir, a brush head consisting of uniform bristles for applying makeup product onto the skin of a user, a shaft connecting the reservoir and the brush head wherein the stored makeup product is dispensed from the reservoir to the brush head through the shaft upon activation of the push button by a user and the dispensed makeup product is received by the bristles for uniformly applying onto the skin of the user.
Referring initially to the drawings, FIG. 1 illustrates a perspective view of one potential embodiment of a cosmetics applicator apparatus of the present invention in accordance with the disclosed architecture. The cosmetics applicator apparatus 100 of the present invention is designed as a unique makeup brush for applying makeup and having a reservoir disposed in a wand of the apparatus 100 for storing a makeup/cosmetic item. The stored makeup item is easily dispensed onto bristles of the apparatus 100 for a smooth makeup application.
More specifically, the cosmetics applicator 100 has a brush head 102 consisting of a plurality of individual recessed bristles 104. The bristles 104 extend radially outwards from the base 1020 of the brush head 102 and are used for dispersing a cosmetic 106 stored in a reservoir 108 disposed in a wand 110 of the apparatus 100. The bristles 104 may have an opening for dispensing the makeup product. The bristles 104 are preferably uniform in thickness and height and provide a feathered appearance to the brush head 102. The bristles 104 are used for application and dispersing of the cosmetic 106 onto a surface (skin) of a subject.
The cosmetic 106 stored in the reservoir 108 can be of any type, such as, but not limited to, liquid, solid, powdered, aqueous solution, non-aqueous solution, emulsions, and others as known in the art, or a combination thereof. The brush head 102 can be of any geometric or non-geometric shape and preferably is of circular shape. The bristles 104 can be made out of plastic, nylon, or other synthetic fibers, and may be dyed. Alternatively, the bristles 104 can be made from squirrel, badger, mink, kolinsky sable, or weasel hairs; lesser-grade fibers include goat- and pony-bristle blends.
The wand 110 is a hollow ergonomic handle used for holding the apparatus 100 during use. The wand 110 is removably attached to the brush head 102 using a screwing or threaded mechanism wherein a connector 112 is used for screwing the handle 110 and the brush head 102 together. The reservoir 108 is an interior chamber for storing the cosmetic product 106 and is coupled to the brush head 102 through a shaft 114. The shaft 114 passes through the connector 112 and terminates at the brush head 102 in the opening 1140. The shaft 114 allows the cosmetic 106 stored in the reservoir 108 to dispense through the bristles 104 to apply and disperse onto the skin of a user/target.
The wand 110 can be made of any appropriate material known in the art, such as, but not limited to, wood, plastic, polymer, ceramic, glass, metal, or a combination thereof. The wand 110 can be cylindrical or can have ridges. The wand 110 is preferably of unitary construction. The wand 110 and the brush head 102 are removable parts of the applicator apparatus 100 and can be removed to refill the reservoir 108 when cosmetic 106 is exhausted in the reservoir 108.
The apparatus 100 generally distributes the cosmetic 106 evenly, removes excess product, and gives it a more skin-like texture and appearance than when alternative brushes or methods are used. In the present embodiment, the cosmetic 106 travels from the reservoir 108 to the bristles 104 when the brush head 102 is slightly pressed against the skin of a user. Preferably, the cosmetic/makeup product 106 is dispensed from the reservoir 108 when the connector 112 is rotated, for example ninety-degrees, along the axis thereof.
FIG. 2 illustrates a perspective view of another embodiment of the cosmetic applicator apparatus of the present invention in accordance with the disclosed architecture. In the present embodiment, the wand 202 of the apparatus 200 has a push button 204 at the top end 2020. A reservoir 206 is disposed inside the wand 202 and is used for storing a cosmetic product. The reservoir 206 is coupled to the push button 204 using a suction pipe 208. The reservoir 206 is also coupled to the brush head 210 through a shaft 212 for migrating the cosmetic product stored in the reservoir 206 to the bristles 214 positioned on the brush head 210.
The bristles 214 are positioned uniformly on the brush head 210 for applying and dispersing the cosmetic product onto the skin of a user. The bristles 214 receive uniform supply of the cosmetic product from the reservoir 206 when the push button 204 is pressed by a user for activating the suction pipe 208. When the push button 204 is released, the suction pipe 208 blocks the migration of the cosmetic product from the reservoir 206 to the brush head 210, thereby allowing selective dispensing of the cosmetic from the reservoir 206 and preventing accidental or unintentional discharge of the cosmetic product. The reservoir can be refilled with a cosmetic product by removing the brush head 210 from the wand 202.
FIG. 3 illustrates another embodiment of accessing the reservoir of the cosmetic storage and applicator apparatus of various embodiments of the present invention in accordance with the disclosed architecture. In the present embodiment, an accessing door 302 is disposed on the wand 304 for accessing the reservoir 306 to refill the cosmetic product 308 in the reservoir 306.
More specifically, the hinged door 302 can be opened to selectively access the reservoir 306 to refill the cosmetic product 308. The hinged door 302 can be closed to seal the wand 304, thereby preventing any leakage of the cosmetic product. The door 302 is especially useful in design of the applicator apparatus where the apparatus has a one-piece structure and the brush head and the wand are not detachable.
FIG. 4 illustrates an enlarged view of the recessed bristles used in a makeup brush of various embodiments of the present invention in accordance with the disclosed architecture. As illustrated, each individual bristle 402 can have an opening 404 at the proximal end of the bristle for dispensing the makeup product received from the reservoir disposed inside the wand as described in other embodiments of the present invention. More specifically, a continuous recess or opening is disposed throughout a length of each bristle 402 for dispensing makeup product.
FIG. 5 illustrates a flow diagram illustrating steps performed in using the makeup brush of the present invention for applying makeup product in accordance with the disclosed architecture. Initially, a user refills the reservoir with a desired makeup product (Step 502). The makeup product can be in any form including liquid and powder form. Then, using an appropriate mechanism of either pushing the button, actuating, or turning the connector, makeup product is dispensed from the reservoir (Step 504). Then, any additional makeup product on the bristles is tapped off as per preferences of a user (Step 506). Finally, the dispensed makeup product is applied and dispersed uniformly onto the skin of a user (Step 508).
The makeup brush of various embodiments of the present invention allows users to store makeup product of their desire in the makeup brush for application onto the skin. The makeup brush provides a low-cost and multipurpose device replacement of carrying separate makeup brushes and makeup products bottles.
Certain terms are used throughout the following description and claims to refer to particular features or components. As one skilled in the art will appreciate, different persons may refer to the same feature or component by different names. This document does not intend to distinguish between components or features that differ in name but not structure or function. As used herein “makeup applicator brush device,” “makeup brush,” “cosmetics applicator apparatus,” “cosmetic storage and applicator apparatus,” and “makeup product storage and dispensing brush device” are interchangeable and refer to the makeup product storage and dispensing brush device 100 of the present invention.
Notwithstanding the forgoing, the makeup product storage and dispensing brush device 100 of the present invention can be of any suitable size and configuration as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention, provided that it accomplishes the above stated objectives. One of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that the makeup product storage and dispensing brush device 100 as shown in the FIGS. are for illustrative purposes only, and that many other sizes and shapes of the makeup product storage and dispensing brush device 100 are well within the scope of the present disclosure. Although the dimensions of the makeup product storage and dispensing brush device 100 are important design parameters for user convenience, the makeup product storage and dispensing brush device 100 may be of any size that ensures optimal performance during use and/or that suits the user's needs and/or preferences.
Various modifications and additions can be made to the exemplary embodiments discussed without departing from the scope of the present invention. While the embodiments described above refer to particular features, the scope of this invention also includes embodiments having different combinations of features and embodiments that do not include all of the described features. Accordingly, the scope of the present invention is intended to embrace all such alternatives, modifications, and variations as fall within the scope of the claims, together with all equivalents thereof.
What has been described above includes examples of the claimed subject matter. It is, of course, not possible to describe every conceivable combination of components or methodologies for purposes of describing the claimed subject matter, but one of ordinary skill in the art may recognize that many further combinations and permutations of the claimed subject matter are possible. Furthermore, to the extent that the term “includes” is used in either the detailed description or the claims, such term is intended to be inclusive in a manner similar to the term “comprising” as “comprising” is interpreted when employed as a transitional word in a claim.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A cosmetic applicator comprising:

a wand having a central reservoir;

a brush head mounted to a base of said wand;

wherein said reservoir is replenishable and stores a cosmetic;

wherein said brush head includes a plurality of bristles;

wherein said reservoir and said brush head are coupled through a shaft for dispensing said cosmetic from said reservoir to said brush head;

wherein said wand is actuated to dispense said cosmetic onto said plurality of bristles;

wherein said plurality of bristles extend radially outwards from said base of said wand; and

further wherein said cosmetic applicator is a makeup brush for applying the cosmetic to the skin of a user.

2. The cosmetic applicator of claim 1, wherein each of said plurality of bristles comprise an opening therethrough for dispensing said cosmetic.

3. The cosmetic applicator of claim 1, wherein said plurality of bristles are uniform in thickness and uniform in height for applying said cosmetic onto a skin surface of a user.

4. The cosmetic applicator of claim 1, wherein said cosmetic is selected from a group consisting of a liquid, a solid, a powder, an aqueous solution, a non-aqueous solution and an emulsion.

5. The cosmetic applicator of claim 4, wherein said plurality of bristles are comprised of a material selected from a group consisting of a plastic, a nylon and a synthetic fiber.

6. The cosmetic applicator of claim 4, wherein said plurality of bristles comprise an animal hair selected from a group consisting of a squirrel, a badger, a mink, a kolinsky sable and a weasel.

7. The cosmetic applicator of claim 1, wherein said wand comprises a hollow ergonomic handle for holding said cosmetic applicator.

8. The cosmetic applicator of claim 1, wherein said brush head is selectively removable from said wand for accessing said reservoir.

9. A cosmetic applicator comprising:

a wand having a central reservoir;

a connector having a central shaft therethrough for connecting said wand with a brush head;

wherein said reservoir is replenishable and stores a cosmetic;

wherein said brush head includes a plurality of bristles;

wherein said reservoir and said brush head are coupled through said shaft for dispensing said cosmetic from said reservoir to said brush head;

wherein said wand is actuated to dispense said cosmetic onto said plurality of bristles by rotation of said connector;

10. The cosmetic applicator of claim 9, wherein said plurality of bristles include openings therethrough for dispensing said cosmetic.

11. The cosmetic applicator of claim 9, wherein said plurality of bristles are uniform in thickness and uniform in height for applying said cosmetic onto a skin surface of a user.

12. The cosmetic applicator of claim 9, wherein said cosmetic is selected from a group consisting of a liquid, a solid, a powder, an aqueous solution, a non-aqueous solution, and an emulsion.

13. The cosmetic applicator of claim 12, wherein said plurality of bristles include a material selected from a group consisting of a plastic, a nylon, and a synthetic fiber.

14. The cosmetic applicator of claim 12, wherein said plurality of bristles include an animal hair selected from a group consisting of a squirrel, a badger, a mink, a kolinsky sable, and a weasel.

15. The cosmetic applicator of claim 9, wherein said wand includes a hollow ergonomic handle for holding said cosmetic applicator.

16. The cosmetic applicator of claim 9, wherein said brush head is selectively removable from said wand for accessing said reservoir.

17. A cosmetic applicator comprising:

a wand including a central reservoir for storing a cosmetic product;

a connector including a central shaft therethrough for connecting said wand with a brush head at a bottom end of said wand;

a suction pipe connecting a push button actuator with said reservoir;

wherein said push button actuator proximal to a top end of said wand;

wherein said reservoir is replenishable and stores a cosmetic;

wherein said brush head includes a plurality of bristles;

wherein said reservoir and said brush head are coupled through said shaft for migrating said cosmetic from said reservoir to said brush head;

wherein said plurality of bristles receive uniform supply of said cosmetic from said reservoir when said push button is actuated by a user for activating said suction pipe;

wherein said suction pipe blocks the migration of said cosmetic from said reservoir to said plurality of bristles when said push button is released;

18. The cosmetic applicator of claim 17, wherein said plurality of bristles include openings therethrough for dispensing said cosmetic.

19. The cosmetic applicator of claim 17, wherein said plurality of bristles include an animal hair selected from a group consisting of a squirrel, a badger, a mink, a kolinsky sable, and a weasel.

20. The cosmetic applicator of claim 17, wherein said brush head is selectively removable from said wand for accessing said reservoir.
