Alternatively or in combination with the scrubbingsurface 104, the scrubbingsurface 104 comprises a semi-abrasive material such as a cloth or a sponge, or the like. In particular aspects, thebristles 108 are of a material having a hardness rated between 88 and 88A on the Shore Hardness Scale to provide for sufficient cleaning action without being overly abrasive. In another aspect, the plurality ofbristles 108 have a conical shape which provides the advantage of allowing the plurality ofbristles 108 to have a larger connection area tobase 102 and allowing the plurality ofbristles 108 to gradually have more flex as the plurality ofbristles 108 extend away from the base 102 such that the abrasive nature of the plurality ofbristles 108 increases as more force is placed on the at least one cleaningmember 14 during use. - In further aspects, the
retention member 106 comprises aneck 110 and aflange 112. Theneck 110, in some aspects, extends from the base 102 in relation to the extension of the scrubbingsurface 104. In further aspects, theneck 110 is sized and shaped to be received within one of the at least one cleaningmember openings 50. In particular aspects, theneck 110 has a diameter substantially the same or the same as the diameter of the at least one cleaningmember opening 50, such that a friction fit is achieved. In aspects of the invention having theflange 112, theflange 112 is positioned around anouter edge 114 of theneck 110 opposite of thebase 102. Theflange 112 is larger than theneck 110, such as by having a larger diameter than theneck 110. The diameter of theflange 112, in some aspects, is larger than the diameter of the at least onemember opening 50 but is configured to flex to allow passage through the narrower diameter of the at least onemember opening 50, which in some configurations is accomplished by theflange 112 comprising a flexible material such as rubber, which also allows for the removal of the at least cleaningmember 16 by manual force alone, i.e., without the use of external tools. In other aspects, theflange 112 comprises anarcuate portion 116 and a flat portion 118, wherein thearcuate portion 116 is positioned towards theouter edge 114 of theneck 110 and the flat portion 118 positioned between thearcuate portion 116 and thebase 102. In this configuration, thearcuate portion 116 facilitates reception of theretention member 106 in the at least one cleaningmember opening 50, whereas the flat portion 118 inhibits removal after reception. - In further aspects, the at least one
connection member 16 comprises acup 120, afirst post 122, and/or asecond post 124. Thecup 120 is configured to have action of a suction cup. In some aspects, the diameter of thecup 120 is such that when theconnection member 16 is received the at least oneconnection member opening 66, thecup 120 extends beyond theperimeter 32 of thebody 12. In this configuration, thecup 120 is readily accessible to remove theconnection member 16 from the external surface 18. Extending from thecup 120, in further aspects, is thefirst post 122, which is sized and shaped to conform to the shape of the at least oneconnection member opening 66, which in some aspects provides for a friction fit between thebody 12 and theconnection member 16. In still further aspects having thesecond post 124, thesecond post 124 extends from thefirst post 122 and/or thecup 120 and is sized and shaped to conform to the shape of thecentralized opening 48 of thestructure 46 such that thesecond post 124 extends through the centralized opening and into the at least onefront cavity 40. In other aspects, thesecond post 124 receives a securing device 126 (not shown) such as a thumbscrew or nut to secure theconnection member 16 to thebody 12. In alternative aspects, theconnection member 16 is of any suitable nature to connect thebody scrubbing device 10 to an external surface 18, such as adhesive, although the advantages described herein may not be realized. - In particular aspects, the at least one cleaning
member 14 is monolithically constructed such that thebase 102, scrubbingsurface 104 andretention member 106 form a uniform and constant body. In similar aspects, the at least oneconnection member 16 is monolithically constructed such that thecup 120, thefirst post 122, and thesecond post 124 form a uniform and constant body. - In other aspects of the present invention, the
body scrubbing device 10 comprises the hand-held brush 58 (not shown) that is removably connected to thebody 12 as described herein. In some aspects, the hand-held brush 58 comprises a handle 128, a cleaning surface 130, and a attachment member 132. In particular aspects, the handle 128 has a curvature and/or is bent at an angle to facilitate cleaning of a posterior of the individual. In further aspects, the attachment member 132 is configured to secure the hand-held brush 58 to thebody 12 such that the hand-held brush 58 cannot be readily dislodged from connection if the hand-held brush 58 is used while connected to thebody 12. In particular aspects, the attachment member 132 is configured to be received and retained in one or more of theslots 96. - In an exemplary operation, the individual connects one cleaning
member 14 to thebody 12 by insertingretention member 106 of the cleaningmember 14 through one of the cleaningmember openings 50. This process is repeated with another cleaningmember 14. Then the individual connects one of theconnection members 16 into the connection member opening 66 the individual desires to use on each of the respective firstrear section 60 and the thirdrear section 64 that will facilitate connection to the external surface 18. This entire process is repeated, in some operations, with at least a secondbody scrubbing device 10A. Thereafter, thebody scrubbing device 10 is connected to the secondbody scrubbing device 10A by mating the respectivemale interconnection member 82 andfemale interconnection member 92 such that thebody scrubbing device 10 and secondbody scrubbing device 10A are stacked upon each other. In some operations, the firstbody scrubbing device 10 is stacked on the secondbody scrubbing device 10A in an offset fashion by offsetting theteeth 86 of themale interconnection member 82 with theslots 96 of thefemale interconnection member 92, thereby allowing the individual to arrange the present invention to clean in a variety of arrangements depending on the desires of the individual. Thebody scrubbing device 10 and the secondbody scrubbing device 10A are connected to the external surface 18 with therespective connection members 16. - To replace one of the
cleaning members 14, thebody scrubbing device 10 is removed by releasing theconnection member 16, which is facilitated in some aspects by the connection member extending beyond theperimeter 32 of thebody 12. Once removed, the individual has access to theretention member 106 of the cleaningmember 14 to pull on the base 102 while pushing on theretention member 106 to facilitate removal of the cleaningmember 14. Alternatively, the cleaningmember 14 is removed by manual force without removing thebody scrubbing device 10 from the external surface. A similar operation is undertaken to replace or reposition one or more of theconnection members 16. - Therefore, a
body scrubbing device 10 has been provided that limits the mobility necessary for use, is long lasting, is stackable in a variety of positions, has easily replaceable elements, is easily adjustable, is safe to use, and improves upon the art. - From the above discussion and accompanying figures and claims it will be appreciated that the
body scrubbing device 10 offers many advantages over the prior art.
