FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new salon cape device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the disposablesalon cape assembly 10 generally comprises acape 12 that can be worn around apatron 14 in a salon. Thecape 12 is comprised of a biodegradable material, such as paper or other organic material. In this way thecape 12 can be discarded and degrade after thecape 12 is worn on thepatron 14. Thecape 12 has a fluidimpermeable coating 16 that is integrated thereon to inhibit bacterial transmission between abarber 18 and thepatron 14. Additionally, the fluidimpermeable coating 16 protects thepatron 14 from fluid treatments, such as hair dye or the like, that thebarber 18 may employ. Moreover, the fluidimpermeable coating 16 is comprised of an organic compound, such as paraffin wax or the like. In this way the fluidimpermeable coating 16 will decay when thecape 12 is discarded. - The
cape 12 has afirst surface 20, asecond surface 22 and aperimeter edge 24 extending therebetween, and theperimeter edge 24 has atop side 26, abottom side 28, a firstlateral side 30 and a secondlateral side 32. The fluidimpermeable coating 16 is positioned on thefirst surface 20 of thecape 12 such that the fluidimpermeable coating 16 is exposed when thecape 12 is worn on thepatron 14. Additionally, the fluidimpermeable coating 16 completely covers thefirst surface 20. As is most clearly shown inFIG. 2 ,indicia 33 may be printed on the fluidimpermeable coating 16 and theindicia 33 may comprise a logo or an image. - The
top side 26 has acurved portion 34 extending toward thebottom side 28. Moreover, thecurved portion 34 has a continuouslyarcuate section 36 such that the continuously arcuatesection 36 forms a circular neck opening 38. Additionally, theneck opening 38 is centrally positioned between the firstlateral side 30 and the secondlateral side 32. In this way the neck opening 38 can be positioned around the patron'sneck 40 having thecape 12 covering the patron'supper torso 42. - A
first mating member 44 is coupled to thecape 12 and thefirst mating member 44 is positioned on thefirst surface 20 of thecape 12. Thefirst mating member 44 is aligned with the continuouslyarcuate section 36 of thecurved portion 34 of thetop side 26 of theperimeter edge 24. Thefirst mating member 44 is comprised of an adhesive material. Additionally, thefirst mating member 44 is comprised of a biodegradable material. - A
tab 46 is provided and thetab 46 is coupled to and extends away from thecape 12. Thetab 46 extends away from thecurved portion 34 of thetop side 26 of theperimeter edge 24 of thecape 12. Thetab 46 is positioned on an opposite side of the neck opening 38 with respect to thefirst mating member 44. Additionally, thetab 46 has afirst surface 48 and adistal end 50 with respect to the continuouslyarcuate section 36 of thecurved portion 34 of thetop side 26. - A
second mating member 52 is coupled to thetab 46 and thesecond mating member 52 is matable to thefirst mating member 44 to close the neck opening 38 around the patron'sneck 40. Thesecond mating member 52 is positioned on thefirst surface 20 of thetab 46. Thesecond mating member 52 is positioned adjacent to thedistal end 50 of thetab 46. Additionally, thesecond mating member 52 is comprised of an adhesive material and thesecond mating member 52 is comprised of a biodegradable material. - In an
alternative embodiment 54 as is most clearly shown inFIG. 5 , thetop side 26 may have a width that is less than the width of thebottom side 28. Additionally, aneck strap 56 may loop upwardly from thetop side 26 for looping around the patron'sneck 40. A pair ofstraps 58 may each be coupled to and extend away from a respective firstlateral side 30 and secondlateral side 32 of theperimeter edge 24 of thecape 12 or tying around thepatron 14. - In use, the
cape 12 is worn on thepatron 14 when thepatron 14 is in the salon to get a haircut or other cosmetic service. The fluidimpermeable coating 16 inhibits bacterial transmission between thebarber 18 and thepatron 14. In this way thecape 12 is appropriate for use during a pandemic or other situation when infectious disease is of great concern. Thecape 12 is discarded when the haircut or other cosmetic service is completed. Additionally, thecape 12, thefirst mating member 44 and thesecond mating member 52 degrade when thecape 12 is discarded. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
