Abstract

Disclosed is a combination of a headscarf and at least one element of trimming for the headscarf. The trimming is intended to alter the appearance of the headscarf to make it more suitable in settings where such a headscarf would otherwise create a color or stylistic dissonance with other clothing items worn by the user, or where the headscarf style or color would not be appropriate for a particular mood or social setting. The user is able to replace existing trimming and replace it with additional or other trimming that is more suitable or appealing to the user.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a kit that blends a functional and practical head covering 20 with the desired adornment combination.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Headscarves, headwraps and turbans are still used extensively throughout the world, predominantly by women, and in some cultures by both men and women. Headscarves have both social and religious significance. As a result, a wearer may be inclined, or compelled by a religious or social obligation, to wear a headscarf during all wakeful hours or when seen in public.
A headscarf is perhaps the most noticeable element of a person's attire, and a lot of effort goes into ensuring that the headscarf's appearance is synchronized to the other elements of the 30 person's attire, as well as with the given social setting. However, wardrobe coordination requires flexibility and variety of outfits.
Presently maximum flexibility by a headscarf wearer is achieved by maintaining a large and diverse collection of headscarves to match all moods, colors, and occasions. However, this type of flexibility is not easily transportable and requires some advance planning by a wearer. Once a headscarf is removed for the location where the diverse headscarf collection is kept, it immediately turns into a one size, color, style and shape that fits all occasions, moods and colors.
Another downside of existing approach to flexibility is cost of acquisition and cost of maintenance of a large and diverse collection of headscarves. While a simple and mundane headscarf may be inexpensive, the need to obtain a substantial number of them considerably magnifies the cost of their acquisition. Furthermore, many occasions necessitate something that is more than simple or mundane. These more imposing occasions still vary in mood, setting and color like all other occasions, forcing a user to stock up on the more refined scarf variety at a substantial premium. All of these various headscarves must then be periodically cleaned and stored, which translates into a significant cost of time and money expended on maintenance.
To improve the state of the prior art, one needs a headscarf solution that which can be sufficiently varied as to be able to coordinate with more than one environment. At the same time, the variation must be easily transportable and affordable. Thus, a kit featuring one or several headscarves of different colors or styles, combined with a several individual elements of trimming removably attached to the headscarves will likely provide all of the flexibility and variation that a user will ever need.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS

The disclosed invention is a kit comprising a headscarf in combination with at least one removable element of decorative trimming. This decorative trimming may be securely attached to the desired location along the surface of the headscarf using snap fasteners, hook and loop fasteners, magnets, or pins.
A fastener means is used to firmly but removably attach an element of trim to the surface of the headscarf. The fastener means is generally comprised of the portion that is fixated on or beneath the surface of the headscarf, with a corresponding portion attached to the bottom of a decorative element of trim. In some cases, for example with magnets, it is easy to vary the placement location of the trim along the surface of the headscarf.
The decorative trimming contemplated by the disclosed combination, includes a brooch attachment, a band attachment or any large decorative trimming requiring one ore more points of attachment to the headscarf.
Thus a user of the disclosed apparatus may begin the day with a simple headscarf, attach an attractive, but discreet decoration to fit in at a sophisticated social event during the day, and still feel at home at a celebratory dinner party at night with more lavish and elaborate trimmings, all with the same headscarf.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described with reference to the drawings. Identical elements in the various figures are identified with the same reference numerals.
Reference will now be made in detail to embodiment of the present invention. Such embodiments are provided by way of explanation of the present invention, which is not intended to be limited thereto. In fact, those of ordinary skill in the art may appreciate upon reading the present specification and viewing the present drawings that various modifications and variations can be made thereto.
Turning now descriptively to the drawings, in which similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views, FIG. 1 illustrates a headscarf 2 a trimming element 4 that is attached to the headscarf 2 with a pin 6. The trimming element is secured to the top portion 8. Additional trimmings may be pinned up to the folds 14 of the top portion 8, or through specially made openings for pin attachment concealed within the folds. Additional trimming element(s) 4 may be pinned up to the headband portion 12.
FIG. 2 demonstrates a combination of trimmings 4 a and 4 b attached in line along the headband portion of the headscarf 2. Trimming 4 b is shown pinned up using a bobby pin 6, while trimmings 4 a are attached using snap connectors or magnets as demonstrated in other figures. The trimmings 4 a and 4 b are preferably color coordinated. The headscarf 2 that is shown in FIG. 2 is tied in a manner that forms a bag for holding scalp hair. For the purposes of this disclosure, the headscarf 2 may be tied in a plurality of ways, such as turban, knotted scarf or a head wrap. Trimmings 4 have similar effectiveness regardless of the particular headscarf tying technique adopted by the wearer.
FIG. 3 demonstrates the quick deployment features of the disclosed combination. Shown is a headscarf 2, having magnetic fasteners 16 a and 16 b. The magnetic fasteners 16 a are placed beneath the surface of the fabric 18, with a corresponding magnet 17 attached to the underside of the trimming 4, with the fabric 18 held therebetween. The magnetic fastener 16 b may be permanently or semi permanently attached to the surface of the fabric 18 with adhesive or stitching.
FIG. 4 demonstrates another form of coupling that may be employed to temporarily attach trimmings 4 to the surface of the fabric 18. Shown is a male portion 22 of a snap fastener, with the female portion 24 disposed at the underside of the trimming 4. Other forms of temporary attachment may be a hood and loop fastener, where a hook or loop portion would be attached to the fabric 18, while the corresponding and opposing portion of such fastener would be attached to the underside of the rimming 4.
It is preferred that the disclosed kit features at least two elements of trimming 4. FIG. 5 demonstrates different trimmings. Alternatively, the same trimming design may be used, with variation limited to the coloration of materials and gems comprising each individual trimming. The different trimming designs may be included in this particular combination together with a certain color of fabric 18 or style of headscarf 2. Fewer or additional trimmings may be included in another combination or headscarf decoration kit. Each trimming 4 would have a top surface 28 featuring decorative motifs. These motifs may be presented using gemstones and/or differently colored materials. One would appreciate that decorative trimmings 4 may be traditional designs of flowers and brooches, as shown, but may include more contemporary or playful trimmings, such as forms of action figures, logos of favorite clubs or sporting teams, emblems of political or social affiliation, birds, animals, dinosaurs, or images of various sports equipment. The underside 30 conceals the fastener element, such as the magnet 17 or both the magnet 17 and a snap fastener 24. Trimmings 4 may come in a kit together with one or more of headscarves, while additional trimmings 4 may be acquired separately. One would appreciate the greater conformity with available headscarves of trimming 4 being able to be attached to headscarves in more than one way.
FIG. 6 discloses yet another embodiment of fastener means. Shown is the magnetic fastener portion 17 affixed to the underside of the trimming 4. The magnetic fastener portion 17 contains a channel traversing the width of the portion 17 to accommodate a bobby pin 6. A bobby pin 6 could be used for a headscarf that does not have the corresponding magnetic fastener portion 16 a, or where the magnetic fastener portion 16 a has become detached has become otherwise inaccessible. A provision for secondary attachment means, such as bobby pins, may be used with snap fasteners, hook and loop fasteners, as well as other forms of attachment means.
FIG. 7 discloses yet another form of fastener. In this case it is a hook and loop fastener. The hook portion 26 corresponds to the loop portion 28 attached permanently or resticably to the surface of the fabric 18. It is appreciated that the side of the loop portion 28 attaching to the fabric may be coated with a resticable adhesive, such that multiple patches of the loop portion 28 may be attached to the fabric 18 at as many spots and locations as desired by the wearer. It should be further appreciated by the reader that is of little significance to the enablement of this fastener embodiment which portion of the hook and loop portion is attached to the trimming 4 and which to the fabric 18.
In some cases, single elements of disconnected, but perhaps carefully choreographed, elements of trimming 4 may not appeal to the wearer or a particular setting. A single band or multiple ribbons may be considered more elegant, stylish, or formal. In FIG. 8 the ribbon 44 featuring various decorative trimmings is removably coupled to the surface of the fabric 18 via snap fasteners 42 and 43. The first portion of the snap fastener 42 would be placed substantially in the center between distal dispositions of the first portion 42 b. Corresponding to the first portion of the snap fastener 42, the snap fastener 43 on the decorative ribbon is also strategically placed in center and on distal points along the length of ribbon. The ribbon 44 may be oriented linearly along a specific channel or groove 40. Alternatively, the ribbon may span two or more connectors placed anywhere along the surface of the fabric 18.
It is appreciated that FIG. 8 demonstrates the underside of the ribbon 44 to display the second portion of the fastener 43 and 43 b. FIGS. 9 and 10 demonstrate different styles of the ribbon 44. In both cases the ribbon is used to distinguish or even hold back the folds 14 from the headband portion 10 to give the headscarf 2 a brushed back appearance. Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 10, the fabric 18 may be substantially flat with the ribbon 44 attached across the surface of the fabric 18.
The ribbon 44 and trimmings 4 may be complimentary to each or interchangeable. As shown in FIG. 11, the trimmings 4 have been placed along the fastener locations occupied by the ribbon 44 in FIGS. 9 and 10. The ribbon 44 may be used in combination with individual trimmings 4 and these two types of trimmings, as well as other decorative trimming styles may be combined with thin the same kit, along with one or two headscarves.
Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is to be understood that the present disclosure has been made only by way of illustration and that numerous changes in the details of construction and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and the scope of the invention.

Claims

1: A head adornment combination comprising at least one headscarf and at least one element of trimming; said at least one element of trimming being removably attached to a surface of said headscarf using a fastener means; and wherein said fastener means is configured to enable said one element of trimming to be reattachable to said headscarf.

2: The head adornment combination of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of said at least one element of trimming; wherein the entire said plurality or some of said at least one elements of trimming included in said plurality may be removably attached to said headscarf.

3: The head adornment combination of claim 2, wherein said fastener means is further comprised of a first snap fastener portion attached to said surface and a second snap fastener portion attached to an underside of said at least one element of trimming; wherein said first and said second fastener portions capable of detachingly coupling together to form a closed snap fastener.

4: The head adornment combination of claim 2, wherein said fastener means is further comprised of a first magnetic fastener portion attached to said surface and a second magnetic fastener portion attached to an underside of said at least one element of trimming; wherein said first and said second anagenetic portions capable of removably coupling together to form a closed magnetic fastener.

5: The head adornment combination of claim 2, wherein said fastener means is further comprised of a first fastener portion placed beneath said surface and a second magnetic fastener portion attached to an underside of said at least one element of trimming; wherein said first and said second magenetic portions capable of detachingly coupling together by holding a fabric of said surface therebetween.

6: The head adornment combination of claim 1, wherein at least one of said at least one of elements of trimming is further comprised of an additional fastener means, wherein said additional fastener means may be a snap fastener, a magnetic fastener or a pin.

7: The head adornment combination of claim 2, wherein at least one of said at least one of elements of trimming is further comprised of an additional fastener means, wherein said additional fastener means may be a snap fastener, a magnetic fastener or a pin.

8: The head adornment combination of claim 2, wherein said fastener means is further comprised of a first hook and loop fastener portion attached to said surface and a second hook and loop fastener portion attached to an underside of said at least one element of trimming; wherein said first and said second hook and loop fastener portions are configured to removably couple together to form a closed hook and loop coupling between said trimming and said fabric.

14: A head adornment combination comprising a plurality of first fastener portions configured to attached to a surface of a headscarf; and at least two trim members, each having a second fastener portion, said second fastener portion configured to removably couple to at least one of said plurality of first fastener portions.

15: The head adornment combination of claim 14, wherein each of said plurality of first fastener portions is resticably attached to said surface of said scarf.
