Description
- The present application claims priority to, and the benefit of, U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/074,498, which was filed on Sep. 4, 2020 and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
- The present invention relates generally to the field of storage devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a compartmentalized adjustable carrying case for multiple wig heads or mannequin heads, wigs and other hair accessories. The compartmentalized adjustable carrying case features partition inserts to customize the size and orientation of each partitioned compartment within the adjustable carrying case, in order to accommodate different-sized hair accessories as per the requirements of the user. Further, the compartmentalized adjustable carrying case includes an additional pocket for storage and organizing haircare-related accessories and allows stylists to pre-style wigs without worry of causing damage to the wigs, thereby saving time, effort and money. Additionally, the compartmentalized adjustable carrying case of the present invention utilizes wheels on the base, similar to a suitcase, for convenient transportation and mobility. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices and methods of manufacture.
- By way of background, the use of hair enhancement products such as wigs, hair extensions and other hair accessories is continually growing. For different occasions, people may desire to wear different wigs which are particularly suited for specific events. Collections of various wigs are usually available at salons and haircare centers. When hair stylists have to style hair at remote locations, apart and away from salons or haircare centers, they are required to transport their hair-styling tools, hair enhancement products such as wigs, wig heads and more to the remote location. Wig heads or mannequin heads are generally used by hair stylists and other retailers to showcase wigs to their customers. The wig heads help customers to understand the look of a particular wig. Also, with a wig atop the wig head, the hair stylists can easily and quickly show different wig styles to their customers. Further, affixing a wig to a wig head provides a stable mount for a hair stylist to conveniently perform various grooming and styling activities to the wig.
- However, carrying wigs, hair accessories, mannequin heads and more can be extremely difficult for hair stylists or other individuals. In cases where hair stylists are unable to prepare wigs at remote locations, stylists may be required to prepare a wig at a salon and then deliver the prepared wig remotely to a customer. Delivering of wigs to remote locations requires that the wig(s) remains intact and free of unwanted contact with the interior of a delivery case. Damaged and messy wigs lead to disappointed customers. Further, preparation of wigs is a time-consuming process. Preparing wigs mounted atop mannequin heads can take an undue amount of time, thereby forcing a customer to wait unnecessarily. Customers can get frustrated while waiting extended periods of time for preparation of a wig.
- Hair stylists usually carry wigs, mannequin heads, and more in conventional carry bags or shoulder bags. However, all the items may not be accommodated in conventional carry bags. Also, conventional carry bags are typically carried over one or both shoulders, which places a burden on the shoulders and back of hair stylists or other individuals. In cases where the carry bag is heavy, hair stylists may expend a great deal of energy while transporting the hair styling-related products from one place to another. Also, in conventional carry bags, hair enhancement products, such as wigs, are easily damaged and tousled while in transport.
- Therefore, there exists a long felt need in the art for a device that enables the safe storage and secure transport of hairstyling products such as wigs, mannequin heads, hair enhancement products and more. There is also a long felt need in the art for a luggage-carrying apparatus that enables users to keep different items compartmentalized and separate, while accommodating most of the relevant products required by hair stylists. Additionally, there is a long felt need in the art for a compartmentalized adjustable carrying case which enables users to easily store and organize haircare-related accessories. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a case that enables users to safely transport their hair enhancement products, such as wigs, without the fear of the wigs getting damaged or tousled. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a compartmentalized adjustable carrying case which can be easily carried and eliminates the need to carry a bag over one's shoulders, thereby preventing any undue exertion on hair stylists. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a case which allows hair stylists and other individuals to pre-style wigs, and then safely transport the wigs to a customer's place, thereby saving time and increasing the convenience to customers.
- The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a case for carrying a plurality of mannequin heads along with wigs affixed thereto, and other related haircare supplies. The case comprises: a plurality of grooves; a plurality of inserts; the plurality of grooves or insert mounts are present along the inner surface of the case; each insert is mounted and supported by at least two symmetrically aligned opposing grooves; the inserts create compartments therebetween and provide spaces to accommodate and secure mannequin heads; a cover or lid including a zipper along a circumferential edge; the cover can include a pocket on both an exterior surface and an interior surface; a plurality of adjustable straps or nets to secure the accommodated mannequin heads; and, the cover connects to a perimeter of walls with a hinge and the zipper to form the case. The case can include a plurality of wheels to rotate the case 360 degrees and to carry the case in at least two orientations. The case can also include an extendable handle mounted on the top surface of the case and/or a handle mounted on the side surface of the case. The handle(s) can be either extended for use or retracted for storage.
- In this manner, the novel case of the present invention accomplishes all of the forgoing objectives, and provides a relatively safe, easy, convenient and cost-effective solution to transport hair enhancement products such as wigs, mannequin heads, and other related equipment from one place to another. The compartmentalized adjustable carrying case of the present invention is also user friendly, as it does not require users to expend a great deal of effort or labor in carrying heavy cases containing haircare related products. The carrying case of the present invention prevents wigs and mannequin heads from getting damaged and tousled during transport.
- The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
