Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
  • This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 63/050,395 filed on Jul. 10, 2020, which is expressly incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof.
  • FEDERALLY SPONSORED RESEARCH OR DEVELOPMENT
  • Not Applicable.
  • TECHNICAL FIELD
  • The present disclosure relates generally to clothing accessories, and specifically to accessories for collared shirts. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to accessories for supporting the collar of a shirt.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Collared shirts can be worn in formal and informal settings alike. In a formal setting, a tie or other article is usually worn around the collar and generally supports the collar. However, the shirt collar has a tendency to sag and flatten out against a wearer's chest and shoulders due to lack of support, typically in an informal setting where a tie is not worn. The same is true for collars of other types of shirts, such as polo/sport shirts and Hawaiian-style shirts.
  • Various devices, such as collar stays, have been used in an attempt to address this problem. However, collar stays simply stiffen portions of the collar, such as the tip, without supporting the collar up against a wearer's neck. Other devices support only a portion of the collar, and do not bring the collar portions together. Still other devices arranged pieces inside of the collar, such as magnets, that can be uncomfortable to the wearer. Further still, other devices lack compatibility with different types of collared shirts, such as between button-down and polo/sport shirts. Accordingly, there is a need for a collar support that is not addressed by current collar stays and other devices.
  • This background information is merely for context and no admission is intended, nor should such admission be inferred or construed, that any of the preceding information constitutes prior art against the present disclosure.

It is submitted with the understanding that they will not be used to limit the scope or meaning of the claims. In addition, in the detailed description, it can be seen that the description provides illustrative examples and the various features are grouped together in various implementations for the purpose of streamlining the disclosure. The method of disclosure is not to be interpreted as reflecting an intention that the claimed subject matter requires more features than are expressly recited in each claim. Rather, as the claims reflect, inventive subject matter lies in less than all features of a single disclosed configuration or operation. The claims are hereby incorporated into the detailed description, with each claim standing on its own as a separately claimed subject matter.
  • It will be understood that the invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or central characteristics thereof. The present examples and embodiments, therefore, are to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, and the invention is not to be limited to the details given herein.
