Germa Application September 6, 1933, Serial No. 688,400 In Germany July 13, 1933 Claims. (Cl. 225l8) My invention relates to beverage delivering apparatus, such as siphons for beer and other beverin-the-slot system as used in automatic restau- 5 rants, and like apparatus.
One of the requirements to be met by apparatus of this class is the possibility of cooling the livered by the apparatus.
my invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into effect, a preferred embodiment of the same is illustrated by way of example in the drawings which accompany and form part of this specification. In these drawings Figure 1 is a vertical section of a portable siphon g0 constructed in accordance with my invention, and
is the shell of the liquid container 4, the space 2 the center of which is mounted the tap valve with supply of the carbon dioxide to the liquid conpreferably has the shape of a tube closed at botfilled with ice. is provided with an external offset ring l2 which male threads, so that it can be screwed thereby onto the reinforcing ring cover l3 can be screwed, which thus closes the open end of the cooling tube I I. The size and pitch of these threads are such that the cover Hi can be screwed also onto the reinforcing ring Ill. The cover 5 of the liquid container 4 is of such a convex shape and the aperture 8 with its flange 9 is disposed in such a manner, that the cooling tube when inserted is normal to the respective curvature of the cover 5. The lower end of the cooling tube H thus is in the close vicinity of the lower end of the ascension pipe 6.
As the cooling tube ll thus is introduced into 5 the liquid container 4 from above, this introduction can be eifected even after the liquid container has been filled with the beverage.
charged with carbonic acid, provided the container 2 from the first has amply been filled with carbon dioxide. Alternatively the outer Wall I may be provided with a nipple device 26 for charging the space 2 with carbon dioxide, as shown in 20 Fig. 2.
Generally the cooling tube will be filled with ordinary ice or with dry ice. If these two cooling As indicated in Figure '1 the cooling means nto a plurality of individual 30 which then freezes in the freezing chamber. They are interconnected by short chains 16 whilst one of the end bodies It carries a longer chain I! by 4. In this case it will be of advantage to fill the tube II with water in order to obtain a good transfer 0! the coldness from the cooling balls through the wall of tube II to the beverage in the container 4.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 151-- 1. In a beverage delivering apparatus of the class described a liquid container and a pressure medium container forming a jacket for the former, liquid delivery means on the top of said liquid container, an aperture on the top of said liquid container, a cooling member adapted to be introduced into the latter through said aperture, and means for air-tightly closing said aperture both after introduction and withdrawal 0! said cooling member.
2. In a beverage delivering apparatus of the class described a liquid container and a pressure medium container forming a jacket for the former, a pressure-regulating .valve manipulatable from outside inserted between said two containers, liquid delivery means on the top 0! said liquid container, an aperture on the top of said liquid container, a cooling member adapted to be introduced into the latter through said aperture, and means for air-tightly closing said aperture both after introduction and withdrawal of said cooling member.
3. In a beverage delivering apparatus of the class described a liquid container and a pressure medium container forming a jacket for the former, liquid delivery means on the top of said liquid container, an outwardly flanged aperture on the top of said liquid container and external threads on said flange, a cooling member adapted to be introduced into said liquid container through. said aperture and fitted on top with female threads fitting in the threads of said flange and with external threads, and a cap nut fitting both in the external threads of said cooling member and in those of said flange.
4. In a beverage delivering apparatus 0! the class described a liquid container and a pressure medium container forming a jacket for the former, liquid delivery means on the top of said liquid container, an aperture on the top of said liquid container, a cooling member formed by a string of individual cooling bodies adapted to be introduced into said liquid container through said aperture, and means tor airtightly closing said aperture both after introduction and withdrawal of said string of cooling bodies.
5. In a beverage delivering apparatus of the class described a liquid container and a pressure medium container forming a jacket for the former, liquid delivery means on the top 01! said liquid container, an outwardly flanged aperture on the top of said liquid container and external threads on said flange, a hollow body closed at the bottom and adapted to receive a cooling means and to be introduced into said liquid container through said aperture and fitted on top with female threads fitting in the threads of said flange and with external threads, and a cap nut fitting both in the external threads of said hollow body and in those 01 said flange.
6. In a beverage delivering apparatus of the class described a liquid container and a pressure medium container forming a jacket for the former, liquid delivery means on the top of said liquid container, an outwardly flanged aperture on the top of said liquid container and external threads on said flange, a hollow body closed at the bottom and adapted to receive a cooling means and to be introduced into said liquid container through said aperture and fitted on top with female threads fitting in the threads 0! said flange and with external threads, and a cap nut fitting both in the external threads of said hollow body and in those of said flange, said cooling means consisting of a string of individual cooling members, and means for fixing said string of cooling members to said cap nut.
'7. An apparatus as specified in claim 6, in which said individual cooling members are formed by hollow balls adapted to receive a. cooling means.
8. An apparatus as specified in claim 6 in which said individual cooling members are formed by hollow balls interconnected by flex ible metallic traction members and adapted to.
receive a cooling means.
9. In a beverage delivering apparatus of the class described a liquid container and a pressure medium container forming a jacket for the former, liquid delivery means on liquid container, an aperture on the top of said liquid container, a cooling member formed by a string of individual cooling bodies adapted introduced "nto said liquid container through said aperture, and means for air-tightly closing said aperture both after introduction and withdrawal of said string of cooling bodies, said string being dimensioned in such a manner that the greater part of said individual cooling the top of said :1
bodies when applied comes to lie on the bottom 45 of said liquid container.
10. In a beverage delivering apparatus of the class described a liquid container and a pressure medium container forming a jacket for the former, said liquid container having a convex;
cover, liquid delivery manipulative means disposed centrally on said cover and including an ascension pipe extending down to the bottom of said liquid container, an aperture eccentrical- 1y situated in said cover, a cooling member adapted to be introduced into said liquid container through said aperture in such a direction that its lower end is in the vicinity of the lower end of said ascension pipe, and means for air-tightly closing said aperture and withdrawal of said cooling member.
