  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention
  • The disclosure relates to drink aperture indicator and more particularly pertains to a new drink aperture indicator for ensuring that a person has positioned their mouth over a drink opening of a container before tilting the container to receive a drink therefrom.
  • (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98
  • The prior art relates to means for ensuring that a person has positioned their mouth over a drink aperture before attempting to take a drink.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a top wall that has a perimeter edge, a top side and a bottom side. A perimeter wall is attached to and extends downwardly from the top wall. The perimeter wall is configured to extend around and engage a drinking container. The top wall has a drinking aperture extending therethrough that is positioned adjacent to the perimeter edge. Indicia is positioned the top side of the top wall and is positioned adjacent to the drinking aperture. The indicia is fluorescent.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a front isometric view of a drink aperture position indicating cup covering assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new drink aperture indicator embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the drink aperture position indicating cup covering assembly 10 generally comprises covering of generally conventional shape and usage which includes a top wall 12 having a perimeter edge 14, a top side 16 and a bottom side 18. The top wall 12 has a generally circular shape and may include a depression 20 therein for controlling fluid flow. A perimeter wall 22 is attached to and extends downwardly from the top wall 12. The perimeter wall 22 is configured to extend around and engage a drinking container 24 by a friction fit or snapping onto the drinking container 24. The perimeter wall 22 tapers outwardly from the top wall 12 to a bottom edge 26 of the perimeter wall 22. The top wall 12 and the perimeter wall 22 form a unitary structure comprising a plastic material.
  • The top wall 12 has a drinking aperture 28 extending therethrough. The drinking aperture 28 is positioned adjacent to the perimeter edge 14. The top wall 12 may have an air opening 30 extending therethrough. The air opening 30 is spaced from the drinking aperture 28. The air opening 30 will typically be positioned in a central area of the top wall 12 or positioned opposite of the drinking aperture 28.
  • Indicia 32 is positioned the top side 16 of the top wall 12. The indicia 32 is positioned adjacent to the drinking aperture 28 and is comprised of a fluorescent coloration. The fluorescent coloration would include what is commonly referred to as “neon” colors and will be highly visible, particularly in low light conditions. The indicia 32 may be positioned such that the indicia extend around the drinking aperture. The indicia 23 may further be positioned on the perimeter wall 22 adjacent to the drinking aperture 28. The indicia 32 will typically only be located adjacent to the drink aperture 28, such as within a distance of 0.75 inches of the drinking aperture 28. However, markings on the top wall 12 may also be provided that direct a user toward the drinking aperture 28. The indicia 32 may be provided in a shape or image, such as a person's lips as is shown in the Figures. However, any shape may be utilized. The indicia 32 may further include reflective elements or coloration.
  • In use, assembly 10 is used in a conventional manner to prevent fluids from accidentally flowing from the drinking container. However, the indicia 32 will ensure that the user quickly locates the drinking aperture 28 to prevent accidental spillage by placement of their mouth on the incorrect area of the top wall 12.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
