- The disclosure relates to drink aperture indicator and more particularly pertains to a new drink aperture indicator for ensuring that a person has positioned their mouth over a drink opening of a container before tilting the container to receive a drink therefrom.
- The prior art relates to means for ensuring that a person has positioned their mouth over a drink aperture before attempting to take a drink.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a top wall that has a perimeter edge, a top side and a bottom side. A perimeter wall is attached to and extends downwardly from the top wall. The perimeter wall is configured to extend around and engage a drinking container. The top wall has a drinking aperture extending therethrough that is positioned adjacent to the perimeter edge. Indicia is positioned the top side of the top wall and is positioned adjacent to the drinking aperture. The indicia is fluorescent.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a front isometric view of a drink aperture position indicating cup covering assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new drink aperture indicator embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 4 , the drink aperture position indicatingcup covering assembly 10 generally comprises covering of generally conventional shape and usage which includes atop wall 12 having aperimeter edge 14, atop side 16 and abottom side 18. Thetop wall 12 has a generally circular shape and may include adepression 20 therein for controlling fluid flow. Aperimeter wall 22 is attached to and extends downwardly from thetop wall 12. Theperimeter wall 22 is configured to extend around and engage adrinking container 24 by a friction fit or snapping onto thedrinking container 24. Theperimeter wall 22 tapers outwardly from thetop wall 12 to abottom edge 26 of theperimeter wall 22. Thetop wall 12 and theperimeter wall 22 form a unitary structure comprising a plastic material. - The
top wall 12 has adrinking aperture 28 extending therethrough. Thedrinking aperture 28 is positioned adjacent to theperimeter edge 14. Thetop wall 12 may have an air opening 30 extending therethrough. The air opening 30 is spaced from thedrinking aperture 28. Theair opening 30 will typically be positioned in a central area of thetop wall 12 or positioned opposite of thedrinking aperture 28. -
Indicia 32 is positioned thetop side 16 of thetop wall 12. Theindicia 32 is positioned adjacent to thedrinking aperture 28 and is comprised of a fluorescent coloration. The fluorescent coloration would include what is commonly referred to as “neon” colors and will be highly visible, particularly in low light conditions. Theindicia 32 may be positioned such that the indicia extend around the drinking aperture. The indicia 23 may further be positioned on theperimeter wall 22 adjacent to thedrinking aperture 28. Theindicia 32 will typically only be located adjacent to thedrink aperture 28, such as within a distance of 0.75 inches of thedrinking aperture 28. However, markings on thetop wall 12 may also be provided that direct a user toward thedrinking aperture 28. Theindicia 32 may be provided in a shape or image, such as a person's lips as is shown in the Figures. However, any shape may be utilized. Theindicia 32 may further include reflective elements or coloration. - In use,
assembly 10 is used in a conventional manner to prevent fluids from accidentally flowing from the drinking container. However, theindicia 32 will ensure that the user quickly locates thedrinking aperture 28 to prevent accidental spillage by placement of their mouth on the incorrect area of thetop wall 12. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
