- The disclosure relates to bottle pour spout devices and more particularly pertains to a new bottle pour spout device for preventing injury while bartending. The present device includes a plug to engage a bottle opening and a firm pour spout that will elastically deform when hit and will not cut a bartender.
- The prior art relates to bottle pour spout devices. Known devices include various plug and spout designs. These devices often employ metal pour spouts that can cut bartenders during use as well as during installation and removal from bottles.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a plug core having a core top, a core sidewall, and a core bottom. The plug core has a core aperture extending from the core top through the core bottom. The core sidewall is configured to be sealingly inserted into a bottle neck of a bottle. A plug top is coupled to the plug core. The plug top is coupled to the core top and has a diameter greater than the plug core. The plug top has a top aperture aligned with the core aperture. The plug top is configured to rest on top of the bottle neck of the bottle. A spout cap has a cap top side, a cap bottom side, and a cap aperture extending from the cap top side through the cap bottom side. The cap aperture aligns with the core aperture. A spout bottom is coupled to the spout cap. The spout bottom is selectively engageable with the plug core and the plug top. The spout bottom extends from above the plug top through the top aperture and into the core aperture. A spout top is coupled to the spout bottom. The spout top has a spout sidewall and a spout perimeter. The spout perimeter is sufficiently dull so as to be incapable of cutting human skin. The spout top is elastically deformable under blunt force to avoid injury yet sufficiently rigid for accurate pouring. A ventilation tube is coupled to the spout bottom and the spout top. The ventilation tube extends from above the plug top through the top aperture and through the core aperture to below the core bottom.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a dull bottle pour spout apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an exploded isometric view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a bottom plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a rear elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a front elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure along the line 6-6 ofFIG. 4 . -
FIG. 7 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new bottle pour spout device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 7 , the dull bottle pourspout apparatus 10 generally comprises aplug core 12 having acore top 14, acore sidewall 16, and acore bottom 18. Theplug core 12 has acore aperture 20 extending from thecore top 14 through thecore bottom 18. Thecore aperture 20 may have awider base portion 22 adjacent thecore bottom 18 to improve fluid flow. Thecore sidewall 16 is configured to be sealingly inserted into abottle neck 24 of abottle 26. Theplug core 12 may have a plurality ofribs 28 radially extending from thecore sidewall 16. The diameter of eachrib 28 of the plurality of ribs may taper smaller towards thecore bottom 18 to progressively seal tighter as theplug core 12 is inserted deeper into thebottle neck 24. Theplug core 12 may be an elastically deformable rubberized material such as, but not limited to, silicone in order to create a watertight seal with thebottle neck 24. - A
plug top 30 is coupled to theplug core 12. Theplug top 30 is coupled to thecore top 14 and has a diameter greater than theplug core 12. Theplug top 30 has atop aperture 32 aligned with thecore aperture 20. Theplug top 30 is configured to rest on top of thebottle neck 24 of the bottle. Theplug top 30 may be a more rigid material than theplug core 12 in order to not deform when pressed against thebottle 26. - A
spout cap 34 has a captop side 36, acap bottom side 38, and acap aperture 40 extending from the captop side 36 through thecap bottom side 38. Thecap aperture 40 aligns with thecore aperture 20. The diameter of thespout cap 34 is greater than the diameter of the plug top 30 to allow for easier applied force to cause separation when desired. - A
spout bottom 42 is coupled to thespout cap 34. The spout bottom 42 is selectively engageable with theplug core 12 and theplug top 30. The spout bottom 42 extends from above theplug top 30 through thetop aperture 32 and into thecore aperture 20 to adjacent thebase portion 22. - A
spout top 44 is coupled to thespout bottom 42. Thespout top 44 has aspout sidewall 46 and aspout perimeter 48. Thespout top 44 may be arcuate and may taper thinner towards thespout perimeter 48. Thespout perimeter 48 is sufficiently dull so as to be incapable of cutting human skin. Thespout top 44 is elastically deformable under blunt force to avoid injury yet sufficiently rigid for accurate pouring. Thespout top 44 may thus be a firm yet elastically deformable rubberized material such as, but not limited to, silicone and the like. - A
ventilation tube 50 is coupled to the spout bottom 42 and thespout top 44. The spout bottom 42 and thespout top 44 may have adepressed tube channel 52 with theventilation tube 50 coupled within thetube channel 52. Theventilation tube 50 extends from above theplug top 30 through thetop aperture 32 and through thecore aperture 20 to below thecore bottom 18. Thetube channel 52 may have a widerventilation mouth portion 54 extending into thespout sidewall 46 around a tubetop end 56 of the ventilation tube. A tubebottom end 58 is configured to extend deep enough into thebottle neck 24 to access air during pouring to allow for a smoother pour. - In use, the
plug core 12 is inserted into thebottle neck 24 until the plug top 30 contacts thebottle 26. Theapparatus 10 is then used as a traditional pour spout. When accidently hit with strong force thespout top 44 bends to avoid causing injury to the user. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
