Abstract

Presented is a ponytail sleeve which is used to adhere hair extensions onto and then placed on a user's braided ponytail. The invention includes, but not limited to a soft, stretchy, elastic, material in a tubular shape, drawstring, a drawstring cord lock, and may be utilized with a hair tie which gathers the hair and holds it into a ponytail while the ponytail sleeve is attached. The ponytail can be formed in the back, top, sides, or middle of the users head to achieve the desired look.

    • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to hairpieces, and more specifically to a ponytail sleeve used to construct custom ponytails of different colors, lengths, hair types, and hair textures.
  • The current process to create an invisible ponytail involves adhering welled hair using bonding glue or thread to a person's hair. With the ponytail sleeve individuals can attach the wefted hair using glue or thread directly to the ponytail sleeve opposed to the individual's own hair. As a result, the ponytail sleeve provides extreme protection from damaging products, including but not limited to hair glue, bonding glue, thread, etc, to the individuals natural hair while still achieving this hairstyle.
  • The ponytail sleeve also allows individuals to re-use their custom ponytail as well as install and take off their custom ponytail quickly and safely.
    • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The existing technology on the market only allows individuals to construct what is known as a “drawstring ponytail” which is traditionally worn on top of a bun. The ponytail sleeve technology allows individuals to construct what is known as an “invisible ponytail” and the user can wear this on top of their braided ponytail for a more sleek finish.
  • The intended user of this product is predominantly females, however any gender interested in wearing ponytails in a safe manner can use the Ponytail Sleeve. Additionally, individuals working in the hair profession (e.g. hairstylist) will use the Ponytail Sleeve for their clients.

    •  DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings in which exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown. However, the invention may be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the representative embodiments set forth herein. The exemplary embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be both thorough and complete, and will fully convey the scope of the invention and enable one of ordinary skill in the art to make, use and practice the invention. Like reference numbers refer to like elements throughout the various drawings.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates a ponytail sleeve 31 according to the invention, shown as it would appear as a side view when positioned on the user's ponytail. This helps protect user's hair from damage caused by thread and glue adhesion.
  • FIG. 2 shows the front view of the ponytail sleeve 31 which is tubular in shape with a circular opening at both ends, the top 32 and bottom 33, allowing user's to easily slide the ponytail sleeve 31 onto their braided ponytail.
  • FIG. 3-4 shows the full length and close up view of the back of the invention. This comprises the drawstring 34 with a cord lock 35 that fits into a circular drawstring pocket 36 around the top opening 32 of the ponytail sleeve 31, and a slit 45 for the drawstring 34 to be tighten or loosen and FIG. 30 a place to hide the excessive cords back inside the ponytail sleeve as depicted in FIG. 33. This ensures the excessive cords do not interfere with the adhered hair and avoids tangling.
  • FIG. 5-6 shows the full length and close up view of the back of the invention with an alternative zipper fastener 37 with an elastic scrunchy band 38 on the top opening 32

  • As depicted, FIG. 13-14 shows the full length and close up view of the back of the invention with an elastic scrunchy band 38 on the top opening 32 of the ponytail sleeve and FIG. 15 shows a close up view of the inside of the invention with a wig comb 42 to help secure the ponytail sleeve in the desired position.
  • FIG. 16 illustrates a detachable version of the FIG. 3 ponytail sleeve according to the invention, shown as it would appear as a side view when positioned on the user's ponytail. The detachable version of the invention will allow users to shorten the ponytail sleeve to obtain a longer or short ponytail hairstyle.
  • FIG. 17 shows the front view of the detachable version of the FIG. 3 ponytail sleeve 31 which is tubular in shape with a circular opening at both ends, the top 32 and bottom 33. The detachable version of the invention allows users to easily convert the length of the invention using a zipper fastener 43. Furthermore, FIG. 18 shows the full length view of the back comprises the components in FIG. 3-4 and a detachable portion using a zipper fastener 43. FIG. 19 shows the two parts detached from each other. FIG. 20-22 are similar to FIG. 17-19 expect the fastener is Velcro 44 instead of the zipper 43.
  • FIG. 23-28 represents an alternative version, where there are two drawstrings with a cord lock. One drawstring 34 and cord lock 35 are located in the same position as FIG. 3 and the second drawstring 46 and cord lock 47 are located in the vertical seam of the ponytail sleeve which will allow user's to adjust the length of the invention according to their desired hairstyle.   • FIG. 27-28 represents an alternative version, where there are two drawstrings with two cord locks. One drawstring 34 and cord lock 35 are located in the same position as FIG. 3 and the second drawstring 46 and cord lock 47 are located in the vertical seam of the ponytail sleeve.

Claims (15)

1. A ponytail sleeve for making ponytails, comprising: one hallow tubular piece of fabric having a large round opening at the top and a small round opening at the bottom wherein a vertical seam connects said large round opening at the top and said small round opening at the bottom; and a fastener
2. The ponytail sleeve of claim 1 further comprising a small round hallow pocket sewn on top of said large round opening at the top
3. The ponytail sleeve of claim 2 further comprising a small slit on said vertical seam wherein the slit is configured to hide the fastener
4. The ponytail sleeve of claim 3 wherein the fastener is 1 drawstring and cord lock.
5. The ponytail sleeve of claim 4 wherein the fastener used to secure to the base of a ponytail is attached to said hallow tubular piece of fabric by insertion in to said small round hallow pocket
6. The ponytail sleeve of claim 1 further comprising an elastic scrunchy band on said large round opening at the top
7. The ponytail sleeve of claim 6 wherein the fastener is a zipper on said vertical seam
8. The ponytail sleeve of claim 6 wherein the fastener is buttons on said vertical seam
9. The ponytail sleeve of claim 6 wherein the fastener is Velcro on said vertical seam
10. The ponytail sleeve of claim 6 wherein the fastener is hooks on said vertical seam
11. The ponytail sleeve of claim 6 wherein the fastener is wig combs sewn on the inside of said large round opening along the elastic scrunchy band
12. The ponytail sleeve of claim 5 further comprising a zipper around said hallow tubular piece of fabric wherein the zipper used to adjust the length is on a horizontal seam of said hallow tubular piece of fabric
13. The ponytail sleeve of claim 5 further comprising a Velcro strip around said hallow tubular piece of fabric wherein the Velcro strip used to adjust the length is on a horizontal seam of said hallow tubular piece of fabric
14. The ponytail sleeve of claim 6 wherein the fastener is a drawstring and cord lock on said vertical seam
15. The ponytail sleeve of claim 5 further comprising an additional fastener wherein the fastener is a drawstring and cord lock on said vertical seam
