IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 202,090, dated April 9, 1878; application filed February 4, 1878.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD BARBER, of
Jonesborough, in the county of Clayton and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flows; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description thereof, which will en- 7 able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and
to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a sideelevation, and Fig. 2 a cross-section, of the invention, showing the standard B, encircling the beam A.
This invention relates to improvements in devices for the easy and rapid alteration of the pitch of the standard in plows; and consists in the improved constructionof the same hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
A represents an ordinary plow-beam. B is a standard of novel construction, being made In order to alter the pitch of the standard, and thereby the plow-point, it is only necessary to loosen the nuts 0 and wedge D, when the standard may be changed, as desired, the nuts then screwed up, and the wedge then driven up. Thus, in a convenient and simple manner, is the change readily made.
I am aware that plow-standards have been made that encircle the beam; also, that standards bent at the bottom and having parallel sides extending up and bolted to the beam have been used.
Having thus described my invention, and the manner of operating the same, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The plow-standard B, made in one piece, bent in the middle so as to encircle the beam, extending parallel below and joined at the ends, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
-2. In combination with the standard B, constructed substantially as described,'the beam A, brace O, and clamp E, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
