Definitions
- This invention refers to an arm-wrestling table. People have engaged in various forms of arm wrestling for centuries. The most common form of arm wrestling involves two people on opposite sides of a table with their elbows placed upon the table directly across from one another grasping their opponents' hand with their own. With their arms arched upwardly towards the hands in a vertical direction. Once the contest begins, the first person to push the other person's hand backwardly onto the table is declared the winner.
- Another object of the present invention is an arm-wrestling table that takes up minimal space and contains all competition pieces within itself while in storage and transport.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide an easily transported, easily used and easily manufactured table with a minimum of parts. Thus, making it quick to set up and quick to break down when done using the table.
- This invention relates principally to the sport of arm wrestling and an arm-wrestling table, but one which is portable, lightweight without sacrificing durability and can store all of the required pieces inside of itself when not in use. It is designed to be placed onto a table or countertop of any desired height.
- This invention includes a six-sided formed box, having an open bottom side. It can be constructed from wood, metal or polymer. It includes two metal hand posts and four foam blocks that are rectangular in shape.
- the top side of the box and the top part of the table are two identical pieces that are connected together on the bottom side of the box using a piano style hinge. These two pieces can close in on themselves by bringing the bottom side of the box together until it meets.
- the top of the table has two small round insets on both ends for the insertion of the previously mentioned metal hand posts in section [ 0008 ].
- the hand posts can be easily screwed into the insets and can be easily removed for storage and transportation.
- the hand posts are used in the arm-wrestling competition and both opponents place their non-competing hands onto the posts.
- the top of the table also has four complete cutouts in it, two of the cutouts are rectangular in shape and are located on both ends just center of previously mentioned insets. The other two cutouts are also rectangular in shape and located towards the sides of the table and centered directly over the middle of the table top, thus intersecting the two identical table top pieces.
- the four previously discussed rectangular foam blocks in section [0008] are placed into the corresponding shape cutouts and are pressed in until they make contact with the same surface that the folding portable arm-wrestling table is placed upon.
- the rectangular foam blocks located on the ends are used as pinning blocks to dictate when the competition has been decided by an opponent pulling their competitor's arm or hand onto this block.
- the foam blocks located on the sides of the table are used as elbow pads for both competitors to place their competing arm's elbow upon.
- the majority of the force placed upon the table is found upon the aforementioned foam elbow pad and due to the fact that this foam pad is resting upon the same surface that the folding portable arm-wrestling table is setting upon means that little force is being put onto the invention itself.
- the open bottom side of the box which is facing down towards the resting surface when the folding portable arm-wrestling table is in use is also comprised of two identical pieces.
- the hinge used to connect these two pieces is located on the bottom side.
- the bottom side also becomes the interior or cavity of the folding portable arm-wrestling table when it is closed for storage and transport. Inside of this area are holders for the two hand posts and the four foam blocks to secure them in place, keeping all of the required pieces for competition in one place for easy access when needed.
- the four sides of the box are used to create space for the cavity when the folding portable arm-wrestling table is in a closed position also mentioned in section the previous section.
- the short ends of the folding portable arm-wrestling table have a latch on them to secure the table when it is in its closed position for storage or transport.
- the ends also have a carrying handle to make carrying the table in transport easier and giving the invention its portability.
- Both bottom sides of the folding portable arm-wrestling table have small soft sided non-slip cushions to protect whatever surface the folding portable arm-wrestling table is placed upon. These non-slip rubber cushions also prevent the table from sliding while it is in use.

In the playing mode the table is designed to be set upon any available solid surface that is a comfortable size and height for the players to compete, the table is a rectangular open bottom framed box, it has two foam elbow pads, two foam pin pads and two hand grip posts, all of which set into specific cutouts on the table. In the transportation mode the table folds in half using a hinge that is on the underside of the table, all of the pads and the handgrips are easily removed from cutouts and are stored advantageously inside of the table itself, the table can then be secured in a closed position and carried using carrying handles attached to the ends of the table.
Description
- This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/654,356, filed Apr. 7, 2018, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
- Organized arm-wrestling tournaments started being held in the 1950's. The sport is well documented and has several associations and leagues that govern it. When organized competition began there became official dimensions and heights for arm wrestling tables. Presently there are numerous arm-wrestling table manufacturers that supply tables for competition and personal use. Regulation size, tournament sanctioned tables are heavy and take up an unnecessary amount of space when in storage. These regulation tables are also difficult to transport and assemble, not to mention they are an expensive item to purchase for individual personal use.
- It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a unique “folding portable arm-wrestling table” that is lighter in weight while attempting to keep it to near regulation size and maintain the structural integrity that of a stationary arm-wrestling table.
- The top of the table has two small round insets on both ends for the insertion of the previously mentioned metal hand posts in section [0008]. The hand posts can be easily screwed into the insets and can be easily removed for storage and transportation. The hand posts are used in the arm-wrestling competition and both opponents place their non-competing hands onto the posts.
The four previously discussed rectangular foam blocks in section [0008] are placed into the corresponding shape cutouts and are pressed in until they make contact with the same surface that the folding portable arm-wrestling table is placed upon. The rectangular foam blocks located on the ends are used as pinning blocks to dictate when the competition has been decided by an opponent pulling their competitor's arm or hand onto this block. The foam blocks located on the sides of the table are used as elbow pads for both competitors to place their competing arm's elbow upon. The majority of the force placed upon the table is found upon the aforementioned foam elbow pad and due to the fact that this foam pad is resting upon the same surface that the folding portable arm-wrestling table is setting upon means that little force is being put onto the invention itself.
- The open bottom side of the box which is facing down towards the resting surface when the folding portable arm-wrestling table is in use is also comprised of two identical pieces. The hinge used to connect these two pieces is located on the bottom side. The bottom side also becomes the interior or cavity of the folding portable arm-wrestling table when it is closed for storage and transport.
-
