  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • For a complete understanding of this invention, reference should be held to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of an embodiment of a multi-function travel garment;
  • FIGS. 2a and 2b illustrate perspective views of the first type and second type of utilization; and
  • FIGS. 3a and 3b illustrate perspective views of another embodiment of a multi-function travel garment in use.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The complete scope of the invention is defined in the set of claims. The following discussion describes in detail the different embodiments of the present invention. This discussion should not be considered, however, as limiting the present invention to the particular embodiments, since numerous other embodiments can be recognized for the practitioners skilled in the art.
  • The FIG. 1 illustrates a front view of an embodiment of a multi-function travel garment 1, which comprises a head portion 11 and a body portion 12. The head portion 11 is realized by a piece of fabric in a rectangular shape. The middle part of the rectangle is attached to the upper edge of the body portion 12, while the left side and the right side of the rectangle rest non-attached. The length of the attached part LM is about the size of a human head. The length of the left side LL or the right side LR non-attached part is about one to two times the length of the middle attached part. The width of the head portion WH is about two to three times the height of a human head. A pocket 113 is disposed at the lower part of the head portion 11 above the attached area for accommodating a small pillow or a cushion. Below the pocket 113, a drawstring channel is disposed along the entire lower edge of the head portion with the ends of a drawstring 112 extending out on both sides.
  • When the head portion 11 is in an open form as shown in the FIG. 1, it can provide a shielding function for the head. The user pulls the upper edge 111 of the head portion 11 over his head. Because of the large extension in both the length and the width, the head portion can fully cover the face and the neck of the user in order to shield the user from the external light and the cold air flow.
  • When the head portion 11 is in a closed form, the upper edge, the left and the right side edges of the head portion 11 are folded or rolled into a form of a pillow or a cushion. Thus, it can give a more comfortable supporting for the neck. Of course, the head portion in the closed form can also replace the pillow inserted inside the pocket 113. The drawstring 112 can be used to fix the pillow formed by the folded head portion 11. Another important function of the drawstring is to pull the leg part, which will be explained hereafter.
  • The head portion can be realized in different shapes, so far it can effectively provide the shielding function for the head. The drawstring can be replaced by any other equivalent fastening mechanism, which is called a first group of fastening mechanism used at the head portion.
  • The body portion is constituted by a back part, a left side part, and a right side part. The left side part and the right side part generally have lengths, which extend at least to the level below the knees, preferably to the level below the ankles. The left side part and the right side part have widths, which are larger than the half width of the back part. When the left side part and the right side part are put together, they have a large overlapping region to provide a complete coverage for the chest, the pelvic area and the legs. Preferably, the left side part and the right side part are partially sewed to the back part until the level of the upper legs to form a coat. The non-attached area of the back part forms a leg part. The leg part can be folded to form a bag to cover the legs. The non-attached areas of the left side part and the right side can be inserted into the bag of the leg part.
  • The FIG. 1 shows that the left side part and the right side part each has a sleeve 131, 141 that has a width of about two times the size of an arm. The end of each sleeve has an open area 132, 142 and a closed area 133, 143 s. The open area allows the hand extending outside, while the closed area shelters the hand as a glove.
  • For the leg part, the lower edge 121 can be folded upwards with different extension lengths. A drawstring channel is disposed at the lower edge 121 of the leg part with the ends of the drawstring extending out on both sides. Rope loops (141 a-f, 142 a-f) are disposed at each side edge of the leg part. According to the length of the user's leg, the lower edge 121 is folded upwards with the corresponding rope loops (141 a-f, 142 a-f) aligned. The drawstring passes through the rope loops to fix the size of the bag to accommodate the legs. The space between two adjacent rope loops allows the foot extending outside the bag. In addition, the left and the right side parts are overlapped and inserted into the bag to cover the front part of the legs.
  • FIG. 2a illustrates a perspective view of the first type of utilization. For example, after boarding in the airplane, the user can install the multi-function travel garment in an open position on the seat. The head portion is put above the backrest of the chair, the back part of the body portion is put against the backrest of the chair, the left side part and the right side part rely respectively on the left and the right armrest of the chair and the leg part drops down the edge of the chair.
  • The user can sit on the chair that is installed with the multi-function travel garment in the open position. Then he can comfortably put on the sleeves, adjust the length of the leg part, close the overlapping region of the side parts, and insert the ends of the side parts into the bag. The FIG. 2a shows that the fastening means 141 a and 142 a are attached respectively to 141 f and 142 f, 141 b and 142 b to 141 e and 142 e, 141 c and 142 c to 141 d and 142 d so that the legs are covered up to the knees. The end of the left side part and the right side part, which extend below the knees or the ankles are inserted inside the bag. The user can pull the head portion to cover his head and neck. In this manner, the multi-function travel garment provides a complete coverage for the entire body of the user. If the user has long legs, the size of the bag reduces while the long ends of the side parts can still provide an effective coverage for the legs and feet.
  • FIG. 2b illustrates a perspective view of the second type of utilization. when the user is in a standing position, the head portion is put behind the neck or on the head. The spaces between the rope loops 141 cd and 141 be, 142 cd and 142 be allow the feet extending outside of the bag of the leg part to facilitate the movement of the user. The drawstring at the head portion is attached to the drawstring at the leg part to pull the weight of the bag of the leg part and to avoid the bag being dragged on the floor. The attachment between the drawstring of the head portion 112 and the one of the leg portion 121 is not shown in the figure to keep the figure clean.
  • The above utilization is an illustrative but not limitative example. The multi-function travel garment can be used at home, during travelling in the lounge or in any kind of transportation. In very cold environment, the ends of the side parts can be disposed against the spaces between the rope loops to shield the opening of the leg part from cold air flux. Supplementary covers can be inserted into the bag of the leg part to further isolate the legs and the feet from cold environment.
  • The drawstring channel with the drawstrings and the rope loops at the leg part can be replaced by any other equivalent fastening mechanism, which is called a second group of fastening mechanism used at the leg part. The fastening mechanism may include but not limited to buttons, zippers, hook and loop fasteners etc.
  • The head portion can be realized in other forms, for example, a hood equipped with a drawstring as a fastening mechanism. A hood drawstring channel can be disposed along the perimeter of the brim of the hood. The drawstring passes through the hood drawstring channel, encompassing the brim of the hood. The drawstring may include a pair of free ends, each of which is engaged in an opening of a drawstring lock. The free ends of the drawstring can be pulled through the opening of the lock.
  • When the head portion is used in an open form, it works as a hood to cover the head, with the drawstring adjusting the size of the opening of the hood. By pulling the drawstrings, the up brim of the hood lowers down until that it covers the eyes and functions as a visor to selectively restricting light. When the head portion is used in a closed form, it is rolled or folded into a form of a pillow or a cushion.
  • Another embodiment of the head portion can be a hood realized by a unique flat piece of fabric. When the head portion is used in the closed form, the flat piece of fabric facilitates the rolling process. When the head portion is used in an open form, the unique piece of fabric is closed with one edge fixed together by a fixing means, for example, a zipper to form a hood. Those skilled the persons can realize the head portion in any other embodiment so that it can fulfil the functions in respectively open and closed forms as explained above.
  • For the body portion, instead of sleeves, it is possible to have the arm slits 134, 144 opened respectively on the left side part and the right side part as illustrated in the FIGS. 3a and 3 b. The user can extend out the hands or arms through the arm slits to different levels according to the situation. When the user rests on the seat or sleeps, the user can extend only the fingers through the arm slits and pull the left side part and the right side part to be overlapped together to cover the body. When the user has a meal on the seat or stands up, he can extend the arms through the arm slits to keep the side parts close to his body in this way to avoid that his movement is bothered by the garment.
  • The insertion of the lower edges of the side parts into the bag in the leg part effectively limits the free movement of the long edges so that it facilitates the free movement of a human. Additional pockets can be installed on the sides parts to provide spaces for receiving travelling accessories.
  • The multi-function travel garment is sized and dimensioned to provide comfort during travelling in any kind of transport or at home. The garment may be fabricated from any material that is soft, warm and comfortable, including but without limitation, cotton, wool, synthetic blends like nylon, polyester, spandex, mink fabric, fur fabric, fleeces. Preferably, the material is porous to ensure the breathability through the garment. In addition, the material is light to facilitate the traveling.
