Description

Body cover
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a body cover and more particularly, but not exclusively, to a body cover having fastening means.
Background
Capes are commonly used to drape or cover the shoulders, arms, chest and back of a user for the purpose of keeping the user warm. The user may place the edges of the cape around the back of his/her neck, sometimes folding their edges for comfort, but the folding may not last or stay long enough. There is no specific use other than warmth retention. After use, the user may simply compact and tuck the cape into his/her bag.
The present invention seeks to mitigate or at least alleviate such disadvantages by providing a new or otherwise improved body cover.
SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL
According to the utility model discloses, a body covering is provided, it includes: a cover body having a periphery and an upper peripheral portion; a first fastening device disposed adjacent the upper peripheral portion; second fastening means disposed between the upper peripheral portion and the first fastening means, the first and second fastening means being engageable with one another to retain the collar when the upper peripheral portion is folded to form the collar of the body covering in use; and third and fourth fastening means provided on the covering body at a predetermined distance interval for engaging with each other to maintain a smaller configuration when the covering body is folded and/or rolled up to form the smaller configuration.
Preferably, the third fastening means are provided on the periphery.
Preferably, the third and fourth fastening means are aligned in a parallel manner.
More preferably, the third and fourth fastening means comprise zippers.
Preferably, the body cover in the smaller configuration forms a cushion for a part of the user's body.
Alternatively or additionally, the body covering further comprises fifth and sixth fastening means provided at opposite left and right peripheral portions of the covering body for engaging with each other to retain the cape on the shoulders of the user when the left and right peripheral portions are brought together to form the cape on the user.
Alternatively or additionally, the body covering further comprises a strap arranged at a position between the third and fourth fastening means, serving as a handle when the body covering is in the smaller configuration.
Preferably the third and fourth fastening means are aligned in a parallel manner with the strap.
Preferably, the first and second fastening means comprise buttons and button holes therefor.
More preferably, the fifth and sixth fastening means comprise buttons and button holes therefor.
Preferably, the cover body is made of a fabric material.
The present invention provides a body covering that facilitates multiple configurations through certain accessories, where appropriate. The advantage of the present invention is that the different configurations held in place by the various fastening means allow the body cover to be used as a multifunctional body cover, e.g. as a quilt, blanket, cape, mattress and/or support.
In particular, the body cover may be used as a comforter covering the body of a user when the body cover is in its fully extended state. When forming the collar of the body cover and using different fastening means, the body cover may be used as a cape with a collar on the user. The collar may provide additional comfort to the user's neck compared to the thin edges of the cape. When the body cover is folded and rolled to form a smaller configuration, the body cover may be used as a cushion.
In addition, the smaller configuration maintained by the fastening means allows the body covering to be easily fitted in the user's bag and easily carried.

Detailed Description
Referring to fig. 1-6, there is shown a body covering 10 embodying the present invention which may be used as a cape 100 on a user or as a cushion 400 for a user, depending on the configuration of the body covering 10. The body cover 10 has a cover body 102, first and second fastening means 104, 106 arranged on the cover body 102, and third and fourth fastening means 108, 110 on the cover body 102.
The cover body 102 may be made of any soft material, preferably a fabric material, to keep it light and thin, making it easy to carry. More preferably, the cover body 102 is made of a breathable fabric material.
As shown in FIG. 1, the covering body 102 is quadrilateral in shape (preferably rectangular) having a periphery 112, opposing upper and lower peripheral portions 114, 116, and opposing left and right peripheral portions 118, 120.
The first fastening means 104 is sewn adjacent the upper peripheral portion 114, while the second fastening means 106 is disposed between the upper peripheral portion 114 and the first fastening means 104. In the illustrated embodiment, the first fastening means 104 and the second fastening means 106 are in the form of buttons and buttonholes, respectively.
The third fastening means 108 is arranged on the periphery 112 and the fourth fastening means 110 is arranged at a predetermined distance from the third fastening means 108. Preferably, the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 are aligned in a parallel manner. The third and fourth fastening means 108, 110 are in the form of zippers, as described herein.
The body cover 10 further comprises fifth fastening means 122 and sixth fastening means 124, and seventh fastening means 126 and eighth fastening means 128, the fastening means of each pair being provided on the opposite left 118 and right 120 peripheral portions. Similar to the first fastening means 104 and the second fastening means 106, the fifth fastening means 122 and the sixth fastening means 124 and the seventh fastening means 126 and the eighth fastening means 128 of each pair are in the form of buttons and buttonholes, respectively.
All of the fastening devices 104, 106, 108, 110, 122, 124, 126, 128 are preferably sewn directly onto the covering body 102 or formed in the covering body 102.
The body cover 10 further comprises a strap 130 arranged at a position between the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110. Preferably, the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 are aligned in a parallel manner with the strap 130.
Figure 2 illustrates the process of forming the collar 132 of the body covering 10 by folding at least a portion of the upper peripheral portion 114. To retain the collar 132, the button 104 and button hole 106 are engaged with one another. Specifically, with the portion of the upper peripheral portion 114 including the button hole 106 folded back over the button 104, the button 104 passes through the button hole 106, thereby securing the upper peripheral portion 114 to the portion of the covering body 102 including the button 104, thereby retaining the collar 132.
Turning now to fig. 3A-3C to appreciate the use of buttons 122, 126 and button holes 124, 128 formed in the cape 100 on a user, the buttons 122 and button holes 124 are arranged to engage one another. More specifically, with the left and right peripheral portions 118, 120 brought together to form the cape 100 on the user's shoulders, the buttons 122 pass through the button holes 124 to retain the cape 100 on the user. In addition, the buttons 126 and button holes 128 are fastened to each other to further retain the cape 100.
As shown in fig. 3B and 3C, in use, the button 104 and button hole 106 engage one another to retain the collar 132; the button 122 and button hole 124 engage one another to secure the left peripheral portion 118 to the right peripheral portion 120 and below the right peripheral portion 120 to hold the cape 100 on the user's shoulder; and, the button 126 and button hole 128 engage one another to secure the right peripheral portion 120 to the left peripheral portion 118 and over the left peripheral portion 118 to further retain the cape 100.
Alternatively, a wider cape 100 may be formed by fastening the outer buttons 122 with the outer button holes 128 to fit users with wide shoulders. Similarly, inner buttons 126 may be fastened with inner button holes 124 such that cape 100 is constrained to fit users or children with narrow shoulders.
Fig. 4 shows an alternative configuration of the body cover 10 for use. The body covering 10 may be folded and/or rolled to form a smaller configuration 404. The smaller configuration 404 is advantageous for carrying or storage or for use as a cushion 400 for supporting a body part of a user. For example, the user may use the cushion 400 as a neck pillow, lumbar support, or arm rest for supporting the associated body part.
To obtain the smaller configuration 404, the body covering 10 is first folded about three parallel lines (as shown in phantom in fig. 4) to fold into the narrower folded configuration 402. The configuration 402 may then be further reduced in size by rolling it into a smaller rolled configuration 404.
In the illustrated embodiment, the lay-flat body covering 10 is divided into four sections 406, 408, 410, 412, each section having substantially the same size and width. The body covering 10 is folded three times, each time along the boundary between adjacent sections of each pair of adjacent sections 406/408, 408/410, or 410/412, to form a folded configuration 402 of narrower width that is the width of each section 406, 408, 410, 412. With the four portions 406, 408, 410, 412 having substantially the same size and width, the folded body covering 402 becomes more regularly shaped and compact for storage or other use. Rolling along the length of the folded body cover 402 to form a rolled body cover 404 further reduces the size of the body cover 10.
In one embodiment, the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 are arranged to engage each other to maintain the less rolled configuration 404. Preferably, as shown in the illustrated embodiment, the body cover 10 is folded and rolled up so that the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 are exposed to the outside, thereby allowing its use.
Referring to fig. 5, the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 together are in the form of a zipper 500, the zipper 500 comprising a slider 502 with a pull tab. Like a conventional zipper, the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 may be made of a plastic or metal material. Zipper 500 allows rolled configuration 404 to be held in place.
As mentioned above, it is preferred that the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 are aligned in a parallel manner. The distance between the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 is predetermined such that the distance is equal to the diameter of the body cover 10 in the rolled configuration 404. It is also preferred that the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 have the same length, which is equal to the width of the folded configuration 402, so that in the rolled configuration 404 the entire length of the body cover 10 is covered by the zipper 500, thereby better maintaining the rolled configuration 404. More preferably, the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 are arranged in the lower peripheral portion 116 such that the plastic or metal fastening means 108, 110 do not irritate the user, especially around the neck, when the body cover 10 is used as a cape 100.
Referring to fig. 6, the strap 130 is designed to serve as a handle when the body covering 10 is in the rolled configuration 404, thereby facilitating the user's carrying of the body covering 10. Similar to the third fastening means 108 and the fourth fastening means 110 described above, the body cover 10 is folded and rolled with the straps 130 exposed to the outside to allow it to be used as a handle.
The body covering 10 of the present invention provides a user with a cape 100, which cape 100 is comfortable to wear due to the collar 132. The body cover 10 may be formed in a smaller configuration which is advantageous for storage or carrying and allows for additional special use, i.e. as a cushion or the like.
The invention has been given by way of example only, and various other modifications and/or alterations to the described embodiments may be made by persons skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention as specified in the appended claims.
For example, the cover body may be designed to have different shapes, such as oblong, square, or triangular. In addition, the body covering may be made of materials other than fabric materials.
In addition, the arrangement of the fastening means may be different from the above arrangement. For example, the first fastening means may be a buttonhole for engagement with the second fastening means, which is a button. However, additionally or alternatively, the fastening means may be fastening means other than buttons and buttonholes and zippers, such as snaps. The fastening means may also be provided at different locations on the main body of the cover. For example, the third and fourth fastening means forming the zipper may be provided in the upper peripheral portion.
Furthermore, the body cover may comprise more or less than four pairs of fastening means, depending on the design of the body cover.
Other means may be provided in addition to or instead of straps to allow the user to easily carry the body covering. For example, a bag with a strap may be provided for closing the body covering in the rolled configuration. The bag may be shaped generally cylindrically and sized to fit the body covering in a rolled up form.
Any reference to prior art contained herein is not to be taken as an admission that the information is common general knowledge, unless otherwise indicated.
