Abstract
Description
- This application is a continuation-in-part and claims the priority benefit of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 14/554,240, titled “Exercise Apparatus,” filed Nov. 26, 2014, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.
- The present disclosure relates to exercise apparatus. Embodiments provide exercise apparatus compatible with and enabling a number of varied exercises and movements by an individual
- In many instances, exercise-based activities require some sort of weight. Past efforts have led to various exercise apparatuses. Despite advances, need exists for improved exercise apparatuses as provided by the subject matter disclosed herein.
- In embodiments, the disclosure at hand may include exercise apparatus that is compatible with a number of various exercises and movements by an individual. In some instances, an exercise apparatus of the present technology may include a cylindrical shaped first frame member that defines a substantially cylindrical first frame portion. The cylindrical shaped first frame member/portion may have an exterior surface, an interior surface, a first radius between the interior surface and the center of the cylindrical shape, a second radius between the exterior surface and the center of the cylindrical shape, and a thickness as the difference between the first radius and the second radius. The top surface and the bottom surfaced of the cylindrical surface may be rounded, beveled, flat, or some other shape.
- The exercise apparatus of the present technology that includes the cylindrical first frame member may include different sizes of frame members, for example cylindrical portions having a different length along the center axis of the cylinder, in order to achieve different weights for the exercise apparatus. For example, an exercise apparatus having a cylindrical first frame member and a weight of thirty lbs. may have a shorter length cylinder (having the same first radius, second radius, and the same second, third, and fourth frame members) than an exercise apparatus having a cylindrical first frame member with a weight of forty-five lbs.
- These and other aspects of the disclosed subject matter, as well as additional novel features, will be apparent from the description provided herein. The intent of this summary is not to be a comprehensive description of the subject matter, but rather to provide a short overview of some of the subject matter's functionality. Other systems, methods, features and advantages here provided will become apparent to one with skill in the art upon examination of the following figures and detailed description. It is intended that all such additional systems, methods, features and advantages that are included within this description, be within the scope of any claims filed later.
- Novel features believed characteristic of disclosed subject matter will be set forth in claims. In some instances, an exercise apparatus having a cylindrical shaped first frame member may have multiple scales, wherein each scale is associated with a range of weight configurations. For example, a first range of weight configurations may have the same dimensions for a second frame member, third frame member, and fourth frame member, may have a cylindrical shaped first frame member that has a length which varies based on the weight of the particular exercise apparatus, and may have a first overall length, while a second range of weight configurations may have the same dimensions for a second frame member, third frame member, and fourth frame member, may have a cylindrical shaped first frame member that has a length which varies based on the weight of the particular exercise apparatus, and may have a second overall length, where the overall lengths differ between the first range of weight configurations and the second range of weight configurations. In some instances, the third frame member and fourth frame member of the first range of weight configurations may differ in cross section size and/or length from the third frame member and fourth frame member of the second range of weight configurations. For example, a first range of weight configurations for weights between 30-55 lbs. may have a length of 16.7 inches while a first range of weight configurations for weights between 30-55 lbs. may have a length of 19.5 inches.

In some instances, the weight of the exercise apparatus illustrated inFIGS. 12A-18 can be thirty (30) lbs. - A height of the cylindrical first frame portion may depend on the weight of the apparatus. As such, an apparatus having a heavier weight may include a cylindrical first frame portion that extends further along the axis of the center of the cylinder than that with a lower weight. For example, an apparatus of the present technology having a weight of 45 lbs. may extend further along an axis through the center of the cylinder than an apparatus of the present technology having a weight of 30 lbs.
