Abstract

A computer desk construction consisting of a desk top made up of multiple joined pieces that create a single continuous textured surface for use of a computer mouse or similar technologies, as well as adjustable legs, supportive framework, and net for cable management. The desktop joins to a framework and legs for support and stability for a user in a seated or standing position. The sectioning of parts results in smaller, lighter sections than conventional computer desks, dramatically reducing shipping and handling costs. The desk can also be easily disassembled for shipment or storage. Further, the desk incorporates a single continuous textured surface which serves to smoothly conceal the seams and to provide a soft, supportive surface in which users can operate a computer mouse or similar technology. The desk includes a plurality of slits in the single continuous textured surface and a concealed net for efficient cable management.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention
  • The present invention is directed to a computer desk, and more particularly, to a gaming computer desk made of component parts that are easily shipped, with adjustable legs, a cover to provide a uniform and smooth surface on which a mouse can be operated, discrete openings in the desk and cover for monitor mounting and cable pass-through, and a net underneath the desk's operating surface to allow for concealed cable management.
  • Background and Related Art
  • Conventional computer desks include hard surfaces which can be painful for the user's wrists, hands, and elbows, particularly with prolonged use using a keyboard or mouse. Because conventional computer desks are generally hard-surfaced, the user must use a cloth portion, such as a mousepad, in order to use a computer mouse based on differing technologies, such as an optical sensors or a ball. The efficacy of the interaction with the computer mouse and desk top is increased by the use of a textured surface usually to optimize the friction between the surface and the computer mouse. This is typically achieved through the use of a mouse pad to increase comfort, speed, and accuracy of the computer mouse, and further serves to prevent wear to the desk or table surface.
  • Additionally, conventional computer desks require the user to drape cables over the sides, which is inefficient and aesthetically displeasing. Further, those cables then hang down and may get in the way of the user, or be accidentally unplugged by the user when using the desk.
  • In addition, conventional computer desks generally have only one height, and cannot be adjusted for both sitting and standing positions of the user.
  • Further, conventional computer desks are generally rather cumbersome and complicated in construction, such that the component parts are generally large and heavy and the computer desk time-consuming to set up. As a result, the conventional computer desks are not cost-effective to ship or store, and are often difficult to disassemble and transport.
  • SUMMARY OF INVENTION
  • It is therefore the primary objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk with a single continuous textured surface which eliminates the need for a specialized separate surface for a computer mouse to operate on, such as a conventional mousepad.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk which includes a soft top for the comfort and safety of the user and electronic devices.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk with a separate top which provides cushioning and support for the computer user's hands, wrists, and elbows when using the desk, including when using a computer mouse, joystick, or keyboard positioned on the computer desk.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk which includes a washable cover.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk which includes special holes or slits to allow computer cables to drop through, or to allow for the mounting of monitor arms.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk which includes a concealed net to provide discrete cable management under the desk surface, as well as storage of associated computer equipment.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk which is made up of smaller, lighter, and more portable component parts than conventional computer desks.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk in which both the top and framework are divided up pre-assembly into smaller parts than conventional computer desks, which therefore results in smaller packages and reduces storage, shipping, and transport costs.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk which can be more easily disassembled for storage and shipment than conventional computer desks.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk which is both space-efficient and stable.
  • It is another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk which is relatively simple in construction and is therefore cost-effective.
  • It is still another objective of the present invention to provide a computer desk with adjustable legs allowing the user to adjust for sitting or standing.
