Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to bottles, and more particularly to a bottle with a reinforcing structure for the sidewall around its bottle lip.
-
FIG. 5 depicts a conventional bottle that has abottle body 91, ashoulder 92 in its upper part, and abottle lip 93 formed at the top of theshoulder 92 of thebottle body 91 for objects to be put into thebottle body 91 therethrough for storage. Theshoulder 92 is roughly a chamfered rectangular structure when seen from above and has fourlateral faces 94 supporting thebottle lip 93 from below. A rounded connectingpart 95 is formed at the corner between any two adjacentlateral faces 94, and each saidlateral face 94 has isupper edge 941 located lower than thebase 931 of thebottle lip 93. - In use, many of the aforementioned bottles may be stacked vertically with contents contained in the
bottle bodies 91 thereof. However, it is found in practice that such a conventional bottle is somehow disadvantageous because itsbottle body 91 is structurally weak at theshoulder 92. Particularly, the rounded connectingparts 95 can sink when the bottle receives heavy downward load at its top, leading to deformation at theshoulder 92. Hence, there is a need for improvement in the prior art. - The primary objective of the present invention is to address the foregoing problem by providing a reinforcing structure for a sidewall around a bottle lip. The bottle has its bottle body atop provided with a plurality of lateral faces and slopes that form a sidewall with better structural strength, so as to prevent the bottle from sinking and deformation when it receives a heavy downward load.
- For achieving the foregoing objective, the present invention provides a reinforcing structure for a sidewall around a bottle lip. The sidewall is a shoulder in an upper part of a bottle body that has the bottle lip atop the shoulder. The reinforcing structure is such formed that the shoulder is a chamfered rectangular structure in a direction parallel to a width of the bottle body, and four vertical lateral faces support the bottle lip from below. A slope is formed at a corner between any two adjacent lateral faces and has a downward-narrowed facade. All of the lateral faces and the slopes are plane and flat in geometry. Each of the lateral faces has a downward-widened facade defined by the slopes flanking it from two sides, while each of the lateral faces has an upper edge thereof locationally close to the base of the bottle lip.
- Therein, each said lateral face is angularly jointed to the slopes at the two sides thereof by round corners.
- Therein, the bottle body has a part below the shoulder formed as a chamfered rectangular structure conforming to the shoulder.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a bottle according to one preferred embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 2 is a top view of the bottle. -
FIG. 3 is a side view of the bottle. -
FIG. 4 is another side view of the bottle. -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a conventional bottle. - Referring to
FIG. 1 throughFIG. 4 , the mode and preferred embodiment shown are for illustrating the present invention only and shall form no limitation the scope of the present invention, which is solely defined by the appending claims. - In the present invention, a reinforcing structure for a sidewall around a bottle lip, as in one preferred embodiment shown in
FIG. 1 , has the bottle lip and the sidewall forming a part of a bottle. In particularly, the bottle has abottle body 1 in whose upper part ashoulder 2 is formed. Thebottle body 1 further has abottle lip 3 formed on the top of theshoulder 2. Referring toFIG. 1 throughFIG. 4 , as a part of the reinforcing structure, theshoulder 2 is roughly a chamfered rectangular structure in the direction parallel to the width of the bottle, as shown clearly in the top view ofFIG. 2 . In other words, there are four verticallateral faces 21 supporting thebottle lip 3 from below. Aslope 22 is formed at the corner between any two adjacentlateral faces 21. Theslope 22 has a downward-narrowed facade. All of thelateral faces 21 and theslopes 22 are plane and flat in geometry. Each of thelateral faces 21 has a downward-widened facade defined by theslopes 22 flanking it from two sides. Each of thelateral faces 21 has itsupper edge 211 locationally close to thebase 31 of thebottle lip 3. - As shown in
FIG. 1 throughFIG. 4 , thebottle body 1 has itspart 4 below theshoulder 2 being formed as a chamfered rectangular structure conforming to theshoulder 2. However, thepart 4 below theshoulder 2 may be a columnar structure or of other shape not conforming to theshoulder 2 instead of the chamfered rectangular structure. In addition, in another preferred embodiment, each saidlateral face 21 and theslopes 22 at its two sides are angularly connected by round corners. - With the disclosed reinforcing structure, the
bottle body 1 has theshoulder 2 is roughly a chamfered rectangular structure in the direction parallel to the width of the bottle, and there are four verticallateral faces 21 supporting thebottle lip 3 from below, with theslope 22 formed at the corner between any two adjacentlateral faces 21. Since thelateral faces 21 and theslopes 22 are plane and flat in geometry while each saidslope 22 has a downward-narrowed facade so that each saidlateral face 21 has a downward-widened facade defined by theslopes 22 flanking it from two sides, and each of thelateral faces 21 has itsupper edge 211 locationally close to thebase 31 of thebottle lip 3, the disclosed structure effectively reinforces theshoulder 2. As compared to the conventional bottle, when the same load in applied downward at thebottle lip 3, the sidewall of the bottle lip of the present invention is much stronger and much less likely to sink thanks to the reinforcing structure, thereby protecting the vertically stacked bottle bodies from deformation.
