- The disclosure and prior art relates to case devices and more particularly pertains to a new case device for protecting a flat iron from breaking.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a pair of flat irons that are hingedly coupled together and the flat irons are selectively compressed on hair. A pair of shells is provided and each of the shells is coupled to an associated one of the flat irons. Each of the shells is comprised of a rigid material to inhibit the flat irons from breaking when the flat irons are dropped.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a flat iron case system according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a side view of a pair of shells of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new case device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 4 , the flatiron case system 10 generally comprises a pair offlat irons 12 that is hingedly coupled together such that theflat irons 12 are selectively compressed on hair. The pair offlat irons 12 may be electric flat irons for hair styling. Moreover, each of theflat irons 12 may be ceramic flat irons or otherflat irons 12 that are prone to breaking when theflat irons 12 are dropped. Each of theflat irons 12 has afirst surface 14 and asecond surface 16. Thefirst surface 14 corresponding to each of theflat irons 12 is concavely arcuate with respect to thesecond surface 16 of the correspondingflat iron 12. Thesecond surface 16 corresponding to each of theflat irons 12 is urged toward each other when theflat irons 12 are closed. Additionally, the pair offlat irons 12 may include a hinge. - A pair of
shells 18 is provided and each of theshells 18 is coupled to an associated one of theflat irons 12. Each of theshells 18 is comprised of a rigid material to inhibit theflat irons 12 from breaking when theflat irons 12 are dropped. Additionally, each of theshells 18 is comprised of a heat resistant material to resist being damaged by the heat generated from theflat irons 12. Each of theshells 18 has abasal wall 20 and aperimeter wall 22 extending away therefrom. Theperimeter wall 22 has afront side 24, aback side 26, a firstlateral side 28 and a secondlateral side 30. - The
basal wall 20 is elongated between thefront side 24 and theback side 26 and thebasal wall 20 is concavely arcuate between the firstlateral side 28 and the secondlateral side 30. Theperimeter wall 22 has adistal edge 32 with respect to thebasal wall 20 to define anopening 34 into each of theshells 18. The opening 34 in each of theshells 18 insertably receives the associatedflat iron 12 having thebasal wall 20 abutting thefirst surface 14 of the associatedflat iron 12 and having thedistal edge 32 of each of theshells 18 being aligned with thesecond surface 16 of the associatedflat iron 12. - The
distal edge 32 of the firstlateral side 28 corresponding to each of theshells 18 has afirst slot 36 extending toward thebasal wall 20. Thedistal edge 32 of the secondlateral side 30 corresponding to each of theshells 18 has asecond slot 38 extending toward thebasal wall 20. Each of the first 36 and second 38 slots is positioned closer to theback side 26 than thefront side 24 and thesecond slot 38 is aligned with thefirst slot 36. Moreover, each of the first 36 and second 38 slots accommodates the hinge on theflat irons 12. - The
distal edge 32 corresponding to each of theshells 18 may frictionally engage the associatedflat iron 12 to retain theshells 18 on theflat irons 12. Additionally, an adhesive may be applied to theshells 18 to adhere theshells 18 to theflat irons 12. In analternative embodiment 40 as shown inFIG. 4 , asingle shell 18 may be provided and thesingle shell 18 may have ahandle portion 42 extending away from apanel portion 44. Thesingle shell 18 may be positioned on a flat iron that has a shovel shape. - In use, each of the
shells 18 is positioned on the associated flat iron to cover thefirst surface 14 of the associated flat iron. In this way theshells 18 absorb impact energy resulting from dropping theflat irons 12 on a hard surface. Moreover, theshells 18 inhibit theflat irons 12 from breaking when theflat irons 12 are dropped thereby enhancing a service life of theflat irons 12. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, system and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
