Nozzle end 14 features areplaceable spray nozzle 18. Hose end 16features hose coupling 22. Pipe 12 featureshandle 24, constructed from a material selected from the group of stainless steel, brass, vinyl, and injection-molded plastic. Elongate handle 24 (or simply handle 24) has a top end 26 and a bottom end 28. Elongatehandle 24 is placed so that bottom end 28 is approximately halfway down the length ofpipe 12. Handle 24 featuresspray control 32.Spray control 32 controls a water flow withinpipe 12. - Handheld Bidet Attachment Device 10 further consists of water nose 34. Water hose 34 consists of coupling end 36 and
waterline end 38.Waterline end 38 featureswaterline connection 42. Coupling end 36 connects tohose coupling 22.Waterline connection 42 connects to standard toilet water supply. - When
waterline connection 42 is connected to toilet water supply, water is supplied to pipe 12 via water hose 34.Spray control 32 is moved alonghandle 24 to control the pressure of water exitingreplaceable spray nozzle 18. Whenspray control 32 is nearest bottom end 28 the water pressure valve is closed, and no water exits the nozzle. Whenspray control 32 is nearest top end 26 the water nozzle. Whenspray control 32 is nearest top end 26 the water pressure valve is completely open, and water exits the nozzle at maximum pressure. - The user simply directs
replaceable spray nozzle 18 so that the stream of water hits the area to be cleansed, adjusting the water pressure to the desired level withspray control 32. In this way Handheld Bidet Attachment Device 10 enhances personal hygiene and comfort without the need for any additional plumbing or costly, permanent additions to bathroom fixtures, while also providing a convenient source of pressurized water for cleaning existing fixtures. - The Handheld Bidet Attachment Device 10 is fabricated in injection-molded thermoplastic.
- In an embodiment, hose 34 is a flexible vinyl hose 34, terminating in
coupling 22 in the form of a threaded T-valve, the T-valve functions as a diverter and is connected to the toilet's water-supply line. The water supply line supplies water to both the toilet and the Handheld Bidet Attachment Device. The Handheld Bidet Attachment Device has a comfortable grip or handle 24, which handle measures approximately 6 inches in length by 1 inch in diameter, and this handle features a slidestyle spray control 32 which controls the volume and pressure of the spray by means of a user's thumb sliding a knurled thumb pad along a vertical opening on the outside ofhandle 24. In an embodiment, shown inFIG. 2 , a suitable means of controlling the spray is to have an internal cone 52 which fits intointernal ring 50. When thumbslide spray control 32 is raised, the cone 52 is variably lifted from theinternal ring 50, allowing maximum water flow. When thumb slidespray control 32 is lowered, the cone fits into the ring, thereby decreasing the flow of water from thenozzle 18. When thumb slidespray control 32 is completely lowered, the cone fits into the ring, completely stopping the flow of water through thenozzle 18. This seal of the cone into the ring is secured by means of gasket 54. - In an embodiment, the Handheld Bidet Attachment Device extends approximately another 5 inches beyond the handle, creating
pipe 12, andpipe 12 makes an approximately 90-degree elbow bend prior to itsnozzle 18. The terminal nozzle fitting 14 is replaceable. Although only one nozzle is shown, it is contemplated that two nozzles having different spray forces be available, to wit, a gentler spray being appropriate for the personal-hygiene function of the device; and a stronger spray more appropriate for toilet-cleaning purposes. - Installation of the Handheld Bidet Attachment Device is simple and straightforward, involving nothing more than turning off the water to the bathroom, installing the T-valve in the toilet water-supply line, and then reconnecting the toilet line to one side of the T-valve, and the Handheld Bidet Attachment Device hose to the other side of the T-valve. Such an operation is easy for any user with any experience at minor plumbing repairs, requiring nothing more than pipe-tape and a wrench.
- The Handheld Bidet Attachment Device, presents users with a simple, reliable means of keeping themselves at the height of personal cleanliness with each bathroom visit, while also offering a unique and useful tool for keeping the toilet bowl and rim clean. It is contemplated that a Handheld Bidet Attachment Device retail package includes, in addition to the Handheld Bidet Attachment Device and hose, the T-valve, and two interchangeable replacement nozzles, a clip for keeping the Handheld Bidet Attachment Device handy against the side of the toilet tank, this clip fastening to the tank by means of a peel-and-stick adhesive backing. Users will appreciate the cooling comfort, convenience, and cleanliness offered by the Handheld Bidet Attachment Device, as well as its “side benefit” use as a toilet-cleaning accessory. Thus, the Handheld Bidet Attachment Device will find a wide and enthusiastic market in the consumer households of America and the world.
