FIGS. 5a and 5b are schematic diagrams of a connecting element of an installation apparatus provided in another embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram of a wall-mounted air conditioner provided in another embodiment of the present invention. - An embodiment of the present invention provides a wall-mounted air conditioner equipped with an air purification apparatus. The term “wall-mounted air conditioner” means an air conditioner adapted to be installed on an installation surface, such as a split air conditioner or a window air conditioner. Correspondingly, the term “installation surface” means a corresponding flat surface such as a wall surface or a windowsill surface. Those skilled in the art are familiar with the characteristics of a wall-mounted air conditioner. Since it is adapted to be installed on a specific installation surface, and is generally installed by being hung or supported, a wall-mounted air conditioner is often of small volume; this means that it has a small volume of blown air. In an embodiment of the present invention, an IFD (Intense Field Dielectric) dust removal apparatus is disposed in the wall-mounted air conditioner, thereby realizing the effect of purification by dust removal, without affecting the cooling and heating effects of the air conditioner.
- The IFD dust removal apparatus is composed of a large number of elongated plastic plates, arranged with small gaps therebetween, with each plastic plate containing a layer of electrically conductive film which is charged during operation. Adjacent electrically conductive films are of opposite polarity, and so form an electric field. When charged fine dust passes through this electric field, the dust will be attracted by and become attached to plastic sheets of opposite polarity to that of the dust, and the objective of dust removal is thereby achieved. Thus, such a dust removal apparatus has a good dust removal effect. At the same time, since the electrically conductive electrodes of the IFD dust removal apparatus are completely enclosed by plastic film, the safety of the IFD dust removal apparatus is vastly improved in comparison with an ordinary electrostatic dust collection apparatus.
- Furthermore, since the IFD dust removal apparatus is installed at an air inlet of the wall-mounted air conditioner, it will have no effect on the blown air volume of the wall-mounted air conditioner, and will therefore not affect the cooling and heating effects of the air conditioner.
- In order to make the abovementioned objective, features and advantages of the present invention clearer and easier to understand, particular embodiments of the present invention are explained in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 , a wall mountedair conditioner 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention is expounded. The wall-mountedair conditioner 100 comprises an air conditionermain body 101 and an IFDdust removal apparatus 102. The IFDdust removal apparatus 102 is disposed at anair inlet 1011 of the air conditionermain body 101. It must be explained that the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 inFIG. 1 has not yet been installed at theair inlet 1011, so as to facilitate explanation of the various components in this embodiment. In the following description, the manner in which the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 is fitted at theair inlet 1011 will be described in detail. - As shown in
FIG. 1 , the air conditionermain body 101 is a split air conditioner; specifically, the air conditionermain body 101 is an indoor unit of a split air conditioner. The air conditionermain body 101 can be installed on an installation surface, e.g., hung on a wall surface of a building. Theair inlet 1011 is located at a top face of the air conditionermain body 101. It is worth noting that the term “top face” means an upward-facing surface in the air conditioningmain body 101 when the latter is installed on the installation surface. - The IFD
dust removal apparatus 102 is disposed on an outer side of theair inlet 1011. When the air conditioner is operating air enters through theair inlet 1011. At the same time, since the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 is disposed on the outer side of theair inlet 1011, air entering the air conditionermain body 101 through theair inlet 1011 is purified air that has been filtered by the IFDdust removal apparatus 102. In this way, the wall-mounted air conditioner provided in the present invention can effectively purify air, without affecting the cooling and heating effects of the air conditioner. - Furthermore, since the IFD
dust removal apparatus 102 is disposed on the outer side of theair inlet 1011 of the air conditionermain body 101, installation and removal of the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 is facilitated, hence replacement and cleaning of the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 is facilitated. Of course, in some embodiments of the present invention, the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 could also be installed on an inner side of theair inlet 1011. - Furthermore, the wall-mounted air conditioner further comprises an installation apparatus for installing the IFD
dust removal apparatus 102 at theair inlet 1011. - Referring to
FIGS. 2 and 3 , aninstallation apparatus 200 according to an embodiment of the present invention is expounded. Theinstallation apparatus 200 is configured to removably fix the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 on the outer side or inner side of theair inlet 1011. - Specifically, the
installation apparatus 200 comprises aframe 201 and connecting elements (not shown in the figures) disposed on the frame. Theframe 201 is configured to enclose an outer periphery of the IFDdust removal apparatus 102, so as to accommodate the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 therein. Theframe 201 on the one hand facilitates installation of the IFDdust removal apparatus 102, and on the other hand can also protect the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 accommodated therein. The connecting elements are adapted to removably fix the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 on the outer side or inner side of theair inlet 1011. - As
FIG. 3 shows, theinstallation apparatus 201 further comprises a sealingbody 202; the sealingbody 202 extends inward from a periphery of theframe 201, to cover part of the IFDdust removal apparatus 102. Hence, when the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 is accommodated in theframe 201, the sealingbody 202 is adapted to seal an exposed charged body of the IFDdust removal apparatus 102, to ensure the safety of the wall-mounted air conditioner equipped with the IFD dust removal apparatus during use. - In some embodiments of the present invention, the
frame 201 of theit apparatus 200 is made of a plastics material. In same embodiments of the present invention, the sealingbody 202 is made of an epoxy resin material. - The IFD

element 301 is configured as a protrusion; the second connectingelement 302 is configured as a slot corresponding to the protrusion. The protrusion may be designed to be wedge-shaped, rectangular, cylindrical or spherical, etc. The present invention does not impose restrictions on the specific shape and size of the protrusion and slot, as long as they can, by fitting together, removably fix the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 to the air conditionermain body 101. Of course, the first connecting element and the second connecting element, may be exchanged with each other; for example, the first connectingelement 301 disposed on theframe 201 may be a slot, and the second connectingelement 302 disposed on the IFDdust removal apparatus 102 may be a protrusion. - As shown in

dust removal apparatus 102, i.e. the installation apparatus only comprises the connecting elements, not theframe 201. - Referring to
FIG. 6 , a wall-mountedair conditioner 500 according to another embodiment of the present invention is expounded. An air conditionermain body 501 and an IFDdust removal apparatus 502 of the wall-mounted air conditioner. The wall-mountedair conditioner 500 is similar to the wall-mountedair conditioner 100 shown inFIG. 1 ; only the differences therebetween are expounded here. - Specifically, the air conditioner
main body 501 is a window air conditioner. The air conditionermain body 501 is adapted to be installed on a windowsill surface or embedded in a wall surface, e.g. the air conditionermain body 501 may be disposed on an existing windowsill of a building. The air conditionermain body 501 comprises anair inlet 5011 located on a side of the air conditionermain body 501. The IFDdust removal apparatus 502 is disposed on an outer side or an inner side of theair inlet 5011 of the air conditionermain body 501. - Similarly, the IFD
dust removal apparatus 502 may be disposed on the outer side or inner side of theair inlet 5011 of the air conditionermain body 501 by means of the connecting elements shown inFIGS. 2 to 5 . - Thus, the window air conditioner provided in the present invention can achieve the effect of air purification by having the IFD dust removal apparatus disposed at the air inlet thereof, and has safe and efficient purification performance.
- Although the present invention has been disclosed above, it is not limited to this. Changes and amendments of various kinds could be made within the spirit and scope of the present invention by any person skilled in the art, so the scope defined by the claims shall be the criterion for the scope of protection on the present invention.
