Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of Invention
  • The present invention relates to a laundry platform used in conjunction with a washer and dryer set.
  • Description of Related Art
  • Laundry is a periodic household chore that most individuals must encounter. Many times washers and dryers are front-loading which require bending and/or some lifting in order to remove and place the dirty laundry into the machines. Occasionally this process will cause laundry to hit the floor while placing the laundry into or exchanging the laundry out of a washer into a dryer. Laundry essentially must be transported from some basket or otherwise into the washer. The clothing that completes the wash cycle need to be transferred over to a dryer for drying purposes. Thus, an individual may have to lift and bend to move the laundry through the cycles to complete the washing task. Although there are some carts available that have been designed to assist in this task, it would be more advantageous to have a device in form of a frame to diminish the necessity of bending and provide support to transfer clothing from a washer into a dryer.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a laundry platform that includes: a frame, wherein the frame includes four sides, an attachment side, an outer side; a first adjoining side and a second adjoining side wherein the first adjoining side and second adjoining side adjoin the attachment side and outer side of the opposing ends; a plurality of hooks adapted for use on the attachment side; and at least one post to support the frame in a horizontal position. The platform includes mechanisms to adjust the length thereof and the at least one post includes mechanisms to adjustable height.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 depicts a perspective view of a laundry platform in accordance with the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The present invention relates to a laundry platform that attaches to a washer and dryer that are front-loading. Typically front-loading washers and dryers are placed next to each other abutting side by side to each other. Front-loading openings provided on the washer and dryer work with the present invention, a laundry platform. The laundry platform attaches to these openings so that the platform is placed below the openings of the washer and the dryer, thus allowing a means of transfer of laundry from the washer to dryer. The platform also assists in the removal of dry laundry from the dryer and the placement of dirty laundry into the washer. The laundry platform according to the present invention includes an attachment means in the form of hooks that attach to an attachment side of a frame. The frame includes a platform in the form of a grid, where the frame and the grid are supported by a post or at least one post. Preferably, the post adjusts in height. Further, the platform may adjust in width to accommodate different size washer and dryer pairings.
  • In reference to FIG. 1, a Washer 20 and Dryer 25 are shown with the laundry platform assembly in accordance with the present invention. The laundry platform assembly includes a Frame 30 with Attachment Hooks 15 a, 15 b shown attaching the Frame 30 onto the Washer 20 and Dryer 25 pairing. Hooks may be provided to attach to both the washer and dryer although only the dryer is shown in the FIG. 1. Further, a Platform Grid 32 is within the Frame 30 thus providing the platform to assist in the transfer of clothing into and out of both the washer and dryer and there between. Posts 12 a, 12 b are provided at opposing ends of the Frame 30 to support the frame in a horizontal position. The Posts 12 a, 12 b preferably have an adjusting means to adjust the height thereof and are mounted on Footings 10 a, 10 b. The Frame 30 diminishes the need for bending that's normally associated with the loading and unloading of washers and dryers. Further, it eliminates the dropping of clothing onto the floor during the transfer process. Essentially the platform serves as a table and support for clothing while loading and unloading both washer and dryer.
  • The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.
