Abstract
A hair curling device. The hair curling device includes a base and a pair of legs. The base includes an endless inner edge forming an opening through the base. The pair of legs extend vertically upward from the base in the same direction. A gap is formed in between the pair of legs and the pair of legs are substantially parallel relative to one another.
Description
- This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 62/497,288, filed Nov. 15, 2016, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.
- The present invention relates to hair curling and, more particularly, to a hair curler device, kit, and method.
- A hair iron is a tool used to change the structure of the hair using heat. There are three general kinds: curling irons, used to make the hair curly, straightening irons, commonly called straighteners or flat irons, used to straighten the hair, and crimping irons, used to create crimps of the desired size in the hair. Hair irons damage hair over time.
- A hair roller or hair curler is a small tube that is rolled into a person's hair in order to curl it, or to straighten curly hair, making a new hairstyle. However, a hair roller makes a user's hair tight and stagnant as opposed to making the hair wavy and loose.
- As can be seen, there is a need for a hair curling device that makes hair wavy without causing damage.
- In one aspect of the present invention, a hair curling device comprises: a base comprising an inner edge forming an opening; and a pair of legs extending vertically from the base, wherein a gap is formed in between the pair of legs and the pair of legs are substantially parallel relative to one another.
- In another aspect of the present invention, a hair curling kit comprises: a hair curling device comprising a base comprising an inner edge forming an opening and a pair of legs extending vertically from the base, wherein a gap is formed in between the pair of legs and the pair of legs are substantially parallel relative to one another; and a clip comprising a pair of jaws pivotally attached and spring biased together.
- In another aspect of the present invention, a method of curling hair comprises the steps of: providing a hair curling device comprising: a base comprising an inner edge forming an opening; and a pair of legs extending vertically from the base, wherein a gap is formed in between the pair of legs and the pair of legs are substantially parallel relative to one another; pulling a portion of a user's hair through the opening of the base; weaving the portion of the user's hair around the pair of legs; and clipping the portion of the user's hair to the pair of legs using a clip.
- These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 3 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention demonstrating a step of a method of curling hair; -
FIG. 4 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention demonstrating a step of a method of curling hair; -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention demonstrating an instruction of a step of a method of curling hair; -
FIG. 6 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention demonstrating a step of a method of curling hair; -
FIG. 7 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention demonstrating a step of a method of curling hair; and -
FIG. 8 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the present invention demonstrating a step of a method of curling hair. - The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
- Referring to
FIGS. 1 through 8 , the present invention includes ahair curling device 10. Thehair curling device 10 includes abase 12 and a pair oflegs 14. Thebase 12 includes an endless inner edge forming an opening through thebase 12. The pair oflegs 14 extend vertically upward from thebase 12 in the same direction. Agap 16 is formed in between the pair oflegs 14 and the pair oflegs 14 are substantially parallel relative to one another. - In certain embodiments, a horizontal axis passing through a center of the opening of the
base 12 is perpendicular to the pair oflegs 14. In certain embodiments, thebase 12 and the pair oflegs 14 may include a front surface and a rear surface. The front surfaces of thelegs 14 and thebase 12 may be co-planar and the rear surfaces of thelegs 14 and thebase 12 may be co-planar. - The
hair curling device 10 may be a monolithic structure made of a metal, a hard polymer, such as plastic and the like. Thebase 12 of the present invention may include an inner edge and an outer edge. The inner edge and the outer edge may be circular or rounded, forming a ring or doughnut shape. The pair oflegs 14 may each include a proximal end extending from thebase 12 and a distal end. The distal ends of each of the pair oflegs 14 may bend in a direction away from one another. The pair oflegs 14 may each include a cylindrical shape, a squared cuboid shape, a triangular cuboid shape, or any a polygonal cuboid shape. - The present invention may further include a hair curling kit. The hair curling kit may include the
hair curling device 10 described above. The hair curling kit may further include aclip 22. Theclip 22 includes a pair of jaws pivotally attached and spring biased together. The hair curing kit may further include ahair puller 20. Thehair puller 20 may include an elongated strand and a loop formed at an end of the elongated strand. - A method of curling hair may include the following. Provide the hair curling kit including the
hair curling device 10, theclip 22 and thehair puller 20 described above. Place a portion of a user'shair 18 through the loop of thehair puller 20. Place the elongated strand of thehair puller 20 through the opening of thebase 12 of thehair curling device 10. Pull the elongated strand and the loop with the portion of thehair 18 through the opening of thebase 12. Weave the portion of the user'shair 18 around the pair oflegs 14 by alternating between wrapping the user'shair 18 around eachleg 14. Clip the portion of the user'shair 18 to the pair of legs using aclip 22. Theclip 22 may clamp against the hair disposed in between thelegs 14. The user may repeat the above steps for other portions ofhair 18. The above configuration may remain attached to the user'shair 18 for a period of time. Once the period of time is complete, the user may remove theclip 22 and thehair curling device 10 from the user'shair 18 and the user's hair is curled. - It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
