The stationary attachment plate 10, adjustable butt plate 20 and locking button 30 may change shape and size depending on the buttstock 40+50 that they are being made for or incorporated into. The Locking Button 30 may have a boss or counterbore to retain the button return spring 25 onto the Locking button 30 as well as being raised up or having a boss underneath the knurled for grip on finger 31. The end of travel groove 29 and the end of travel screw 15 may be on either the Stationary attachment plate 10 or the Adjustable butt plate 20. The outside profile shape may change depending on the shape of the buttstock it is being attached to. The ergonomic and comfortable contact face 22 may vary depending on the shape of the shooter, shoulder, or body armor it will be fashioned for. All the individual parts may be manufactured in several fashions including but not limited to plastic injected molding, spin casting, sand casting, metal injection molding, 3D printing, die casting and machining. Any or all parts could be made from plastic, metal, aluminum, wood, carbon fiber, composites natural or man-made.
  • I. Operation of Preferred Embodiment
  • After installation of the Adjustable Buttstock assembly, FIG. 1, to the existing buttstock 40 with the two mounting screws 13 the user would push the locking button 30 on the knurl for grip on finger end 31 of the locking button 30 that would pivot on the hinge rail 34 and button retaining pin 24 thus disengage the male locking tab 33 from the locking detent pocket 14, at that point the user would slide the adjustable butt plate 20 vertically to a position they think would be ergonmic and comfortable then letting off the locking button 30 that would allow the button return spring 25 to push up on the knurl for grip on finger 31 end of the locking button 30 re-engaging the male locking tab 33 with the locking detent pocket 14 thus locking and preventing any more vertical movement between the stationary attachment plate 10 and the adjustable butt plate 20. This adjustment can be made in seconds allowing for many applications such as multiple people using the same weapon on any given day with different shooting stances and body types allowing more comfort, better line of site without tilting head and creating more engagement between the end of the buttstock and the users shoulder resulting in a faster more accurate shot. Another application could be one user that would be moving between stances or shooting positions, standing, kneeling, squatting, prone position or any shooting position and would need to adjust the butt plate in higher or lower manner fast as to maintain good contact between the buttstock end and shoulder, at the same time providing the proper elevation of the weapon as to see down the aiming device such as iron sites, scope, red dot or any gun sights without stretching or tilting head for a fast accurate shot.
