Abstract
A hat comprises a crown, a brim extending outward from an edge of the crown, and a first transparent liquid-proof layer disposed over the crown or the brim. The first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown, or the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the brim, define an enclosed space containing a liquid and decorations. By forming the enclosed space that allows a user to see through it on the hat and disposing the liquid and the decorations into the enclosed space, the hat may present special visual effects different from that presented by conventional hats.
Description
- The present invention relates to a hat and, more particularly, to a hat having other articles attached thereto.
- Conventional hats usually have other articles attached thereto for presenting visual effects or advertising. For example, badges, logotypes, or wordmarks may be attached to hats by applique or ironing-on.
- The present invention provides a hat having other articles attached thereto by a special way for presenting special visual effects different from that presented by conventional hats.
- According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a hat comprising a crown, a brim extending outward from an edge of the crown, and a first transparent liquid-proof layer disposed over the crown or the brim. The first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown, or the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the brim, define an enclosed space containing a liquid and decorations.
- According to another aspect of the present invention, the hat may further comprise a second transparent liquid-proof layer disposed between the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown, or between the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the brim. The second transparent liquid-proof layer and the first transparent liquid-proof layer define the enclosed space.
- According to another aspect of the present invention, there is further provided a hat comprising a crown and a first transparent liquid-proof layer disposed over the crown, wherein the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown define an enclosed space containing a liquid and decorations.
- According to another aspect of the present invention, the hat may further comprise a second transparent liquid-proof layer disposed between the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown. The second transparent liquid-proof layer and the first transparent liquid-proof layer define the enclosed space.
- According to another aspect of the present invention, the liquid may comprise water or glycerol. The decorations may comprise sequins, glitters, beads, or luminescent decorations.
- By forming the enclosed space that allows a user to see through it on the hat and disposing the liquid and the decorations into the enclosed space, the hat may present special visual effects different from that presented by conventional hats.
- The foregoing, as well as additional objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be more readily apparent from the following embodiments and detailed description, which proceed with reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 8 is a top view of a hat according to a sixth embodiment of the present invention. - Reference will now be made in detail to several embodiments of the present invention that are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, same or similar reference numerals are used in the drawings and the description to refer to the same or like components. The drawings are in simplified form and are not to precise scale or shape.
- As used in this disclosure, directional terms, such as top, side, front, on, and over, are used with respect to the drawings and are not used to limit the scope of the present invention. The singular forms “a,” “an” and “the” comprise plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. The word “comprise” and variations of the word, such as “comprising” and “comprises,” mean “comprising but not limited to,” and are not intended to exclude, for example, other components.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 andFIG. 2 , there are respectively shown a perspective view and a cross-sectional side view of ahat 1 according to a first embodiment of the present invention. Thehat 1 comprises acrown 10, abrim 20, and a first transparent liquid-proof layer 30. Thebrim 20 extends outward from a front edge of thecrown 10. The first transparent liquid-proof layer 30 is disposed over a front surface of thecrown 10. The first transparent liquid-proof layer 30 and thecrown 10 define an enclosedspace 40. The enclosedspace 40 contains a liquid 50 (represented in dots) anddecorations 60. - By forming the enclosed
space 40 that allows a user to see through it on thehat 1 and disposing theliquid 50 and thedecorations 60 into the enclosedspace 40, thehat 1 may present special visual effects different from that presented by conventional hats. - In an embodiment, the
liquid 50 is water, and the first transparent liquid-proof layer 30 is made of transparent water-proof material; in another embodiment, theliquid 50 is glycerol or other kind of liquid. In an embodiment, a portion of the front surface of thecrown 10 corresponding to the enclosedspace 40 is made of transparent liquid-proof material such as transparent water-proof material. In an embodiment, the enclosed space may be disposed on any other portion of thecrown 10. In an embodiment, thecrown 10 may use a net structure in the portion that is not covered by the enclosed space to increase air permeability. In an embodiment, the front surface of thecrown 10 further has a badge, logotype, or wordmark attached thereto by applique or ironing-on, so a user may see through the first transparent liquid-proof layer 30 to see not only theliquid 50 and thedecorations 60 but also the badge, logotype, or wordmark. - In an embodiment, the
decorations 60 comprise sequins, glitters, beads, other kind of decoration that may reflect light, or any combination thereof, capable of presenting amazing visual effects under circumstances with lighting. Thedecorations 60 may further comprise luminescent decorations that may be made of, for example, phosphorescent material, capable of presenting flowing light visual effects under circumstances without lighting. Thedecorations 60 may be plate-like or solid decorations formed in stars, balls, ships, fishes, other kinds of shapes, or any combination thereof. - Referring to
FIG. 3 , there is shown a cross-sectional side view of a hat 2 according to a second embodiment of the present invention. Compared to thehat 1 as shown inFIG. 2 , the hat 2 further comprises a second transparent liquid-proof layer 32 disposed between the first transparent liquid-proof layer 30 and thecrown 10. The second transparent liquid-proof layer 32 and the first transparent liquid-proof layer 30 define the enclosedspace 40 containing theliquid 50 and thedecorations 60. In the embodiment, the first transparent liquid-proof layer 32 is disposed close to the front surface of thecrown 10. - Referring to
FIG. 4 , there is shown a top view of thehat 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention. In this and the following top-view drawings, the enclosedspace 40 that allows a user to see through it is represented in grids, and the first transparent liquid-proof layer 30, theliquid 50 and thedecorations 60 are omitted. In the embodiment, the enclosedspace 40 is formed by disposing the first transparent liquid-proof layer 30 over the front surface of thecrown 10, so that the first transparent liquid-proof layer 30 and thecrown 10 define the enclosedspace 40 containing theliquid 50 and thedecorations 60. - Referring to
FIG. 5 , there is shown a top view of ahat 3 according to a third embodiment of the present invention. Compared to thehat 1 as shown inFIG. 4 , the enclosedspace 40 of thehat 3 is formed on thebrim 20. In an embodiment, as similar toFIG. 2 , the enclosedspace 40 of thehat 3 is formed by disposing the first transparent liquid-proof layer over thebrim 20, so that the first transparent liquid-proof layer and thebrim 20 define the enclosedspace 40. In another embodiment, as similar toFIG. 3 , the enclosedspace 40 of thehat 3 is formed by disposing the first transparent liquid-proof layer over thebrim 20 and further disposing the second transparent liquid-proof layer between the first transparent liquid-proof layer and thebrim 20, so that the second transparent liquid-proof layer and the first transparent liquid-proof layer define the enclosedspace 40. In the following embodiments, the enclosed space may be also formed as similar toFIG. 2 orFIG. 3 . - Referring to
FIG. 6 , there is shown a top view of a hat 4 according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention. Compared to thehats FIG. 4 andFIG. 5 , the enclosedspaces 40 of the hat 4 are respectively formed on thecrown 10 and thebrim 20. - Referring to
FIG. 7 , there is shown a top view of ahat 5 according to a fifth embodiment of the present invention. Compared to thehat 1 as shown inFIG. 4 , thehat 5 does not comprise the brim. In other words, thehat 5 comprises thecrown 10 and the first transparent liquid-proof layer disposed over thecrown 10, so that the first transparent liquid-proof layer and thecrown 10 define the enclosedspace 40 containing the liquid and the decorations. - Referring to
FIG. 8 , there is shown a top view of ahat 6 according to a sixth embodiment of the present invention. Compared to thehat 1 as shown inFIG. 4 , thehat 6 comprises abrim 22 extending outward from the circumference of thecrown 10. Moreover, thehat 6 further comprises three first transparent liquid-proof layers respectively disposed over three portions of thebrim 22, so that the first transparent liquid-proof layers and thebrim 22 define threeenclosed space 40 containing the liquid and the decorations. - The aforementioned embodiments use specific types of hats. As shown in
FIGS. 1-6 , the hats 1-4 are similar to baseball caps. As shown inFIG. 7 , thehat 5 is similar to a brimless cap. As shown inFIG. 8 , thehat 6 is similar to a cartwheel hat. However, these embodiments are not intended to be limited to the present invention. For example, the present invention may be applied to other types of hats, such as fedora hats or bucket hats. - It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made to the structure of the present invention without departing from the scope or spirit of the present invention. In view of the foregoing, it is intended that the present invention cover modifications and variations of this invention provided they fall within the scope of the following claims and their equivalents.
Claims (8)
1. A hat comprising a crown, a brim extending outward from an edge of the crown, and a first transparent liquid-proof layer disposed over the crown or the brim, wherein the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown, or the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the brim, define an enclosed space containing a liquid and decorations.
2. The hat of claim 1 further comprising a second transparent liquid-proof layer disposed between the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown, or between the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the brim, wherein the second transparent liquid-proof layer and the first transparent liquid-proof layer define the enclosed space.
3. The hat of claim 1 , wherein the liquid comprises water or glycerol.
4. The hat of claim 1 , wherein the decorations comprise sequins, glitters, beads, or luminescent decorations.
5. A hat comprising a crown and a first transparent liquid-proof layer disposed over the crown, wherein the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown define an enclosed space containing a liquid and decorations.
6. The hat of claim 5 further comprising a second transparent liquid-proof layer disposed between the first transparent liquid-proof layer and the crown, wherein the second transparent liquid-proof layer and the first transparent liquid-proof layer define the enclosed space.
7. The hat of claim 5 , wherein the liquid comprises water or glycerol.
8. The hat of claim 5 , wherein the decorations comprise sequins, glitters, beads, or luminescent decorations.
