Abstract

A target holding assembly for holding a target above a support surface includes a stand that may penetrate a support surface.   • The disclosure and prior art relates to target holding assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new target holding assembly for holding a target above a support surface.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a stand that may penetrate a support surface. A clamp is coupled to the stand and a panel is removably positioned in the clamp. The panel may have a target attached thereto thereby facilitating the target to be supported above the support surface. Thus, the target may be shot at.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a target holding assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a left side phantom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new target holding assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the target holding assembly 10 generally comprises a stand 12 that may penetrate a support surface 14. The support surface 14 may comprise ground. The stand 12 comprises a pair of uprights 16, and each of the uprights 16 has a first end 18 and a second end 20. The first end 18 corresponding to each of the uprights 16 tapers to a point. Thus, the first end 18 corresponding to each of the uprights 16 may penetrate the support surface 14.
  • A central member 22 is coupled to and extends between each of the uprights 16. Thus, the uprights 16 are spaced apart from each other. The central member 24 is positioned closer to the second end 20 than the first end 18. Moreover, the central member 22 is oriented perpendicular to the uprights 16. Each of the uprights 16 and the central member 22 may be comprised of a metallic material. The central member 22 may be welded to each of the uprights 16.
  • Each of the uprights 16 may have a length ranging between forty five cm and fifty five cm. The central member 22 may have a length ranging between twenty five cm and thirty cm. The central member 22 may be spaced a distance ranging between seven cm and twelve cm from the second end 20 of the uprights 16. Moreover, each of the uprights 16 may have a diameter ranging between two cm and five cm.
  • A clamp 24 is provided and the clamp 24 is coupled to the stand. The clamp 24 comprises a saddle 26 that has a bottom side 28, a front side 30 and a back side 32. The front side 30 and the back side 32 are spaced apart from each other to define a target space 34 in the saddle 26. The bottom side 28 is coupled to the second end 20 corresponding to each of the uprights 16. The saddle 26 extends between the uprights 16 thereby facilitating the saddle 26 to be spaced above the support surface 14. The saddle 26 may be comprised of a metallic material and the saddle 26 may be welded to the uprights 16.
  • A pair of screws 36 is provided. Each of the screws 36 is movably coupled to the front side 30 of the saddle 26. Thus, each of the screws 36 may be manipulated. Each of the screws 36 selectively extends across the target space 34. Each of the screws 36 may include a handle 37. The handle 37 corresponding to each screw 36 may be oriented transverse with respect to the corresponding screw 36.
  • A panel 38 is provided and the panel 38 is removably positioned in the clamp 24. The panel 38 may have a target 40 attached thereto. Thus, the target 40 is supported above the support surface 14 such that the target 40 may be shot at. The target 40 may be a paper target or the like. The panel 38 may be comprised of wood or the like such that a projectile is inhibited from ricocheting from the panel 38.
  • The panel 38 has a front surface 42 and the target 40 may be attached to the front surface 42. The panel 38 is positioned in the target space 34. Each of the screws 36 engages the front surface 42 and the panel 38 is vertically retained in the saddle 26. Thus, the target 40 may be shot at.
  • In use, the stand 12 is manipulated such that each of the uprights 16 penetrates the support surface 14. The panel 38 is positioned in the saddle 26 and each of screws 36 is manipulated to retain the panel 38 in an upright position in the saddle 26. The target 40 is attached to the front surface 42 of the panel 38. The target 40 is shot at from a selected distance away. The clamp 24 inhibits the target 40 from falling over while the target 40 is shot at.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims (7)

1. A target holding assembly configured to hold a target above a support surface, said assembly comprising:
a stand being configured to penetrate a support surface;
a clamp being coupled to said stand, said clamp including a saddle having a bottom side, a front side and a back side, said front side and said back side being spaced apart from each other to define a target space in said saddle having an open top, said target space is open in an upward direction, said target space having open ends; and
a panel being removably positioned in said clamp such that said panel extends outwardly from said open ends of said target space and upwardly from said target space, said panel being configured to have a target attached thereto thereby facilitating the target to be supported above the support surface such that the target may be shot at.
2. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said stand comprises a pair of uprights, each of said uprights having a first end and a second end, said first end corresponding to each of said uprights tapering to a point wherein said first end corresponding to each of said uprights is configured to penetrate the support surface.
3. The assembly according to claim 2, further comprising a central member being coupled to and extending between each of said uprights such that said uprights are spaced apart from each other, said central member being positioned closer to said second end than said first end, said central member being oriented perpendicular to said uprights.
4. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein:
said stand comprises a pair of uprights, each of said uprights having a second end; and,
said bottom side being coupled to said second end corresponding to each of said uprights such that said saddle extends between said uprights wherein said saddle is configured to be spaced above the support surface.
5. The assembly according to claim 4, further comprising a pair of screws, each of said screws being movably coupled to said front side of said saddle wherein each of said screws is configured to be manipulated.
6. The assembly according to claim 5, wherein said panel has a front surface, said front surface being configured to have the target attached thereto, said panel being positioned in said target space, each of said screws engaging said front surface such that said panel is vertically retained in said saddle wherein said target is configured to be shot at.
7. A target holding assembly configured to hold a target above a support surface, said assembly comprising:
a stand being configured to penetrate a support surface, said stand comprising:
a pair of uprights, each of said uprights having a first end and a second end, said first end corresponding to each of said uprights tapering to a point wherein said first end corresponding to each of said uprights is configured to penetrate the support surface, and
a central member being coupled to and extending between each of said uprights such that said uprights are spaced apart from each other, said central member being positioned closer to said second end than said first end, said central member being oriented perpendicular to said uprights;
a clamp being coupled to said stand, said clamp comprising:
a saddle having a bottom side, a front side and a back side, said front side and said back side being spaced apart from each other to define a target space in said saddle having an open top, said bottom side being coupled to said second end corresponding to each of said uprights such that said saddle extends between said uprights and said target space is open in an upward direction wherein said saddle is configured to be spaced above the support surface, said target space having open ends, and
a pair of screws, each of said screws being movably coupled to said front side of said saddle wherein each of said screws is configured to be manipulated; and
a panel being removably positioned in said clamp such that said panel extends outwardly from said open ends of said target space and upwardly from said target space, said panel being configured to have a target attached thereto thereby facilitating the target to be supported above the support surface such that the target may be shot at, said panel having a front surface, said front surface being configured to have the target attached thereto, said panel being selectively positioned in said target space, each of said screws engaging said front surface such that said panel is vertically retained in said saddle wherein said target is configured to be shot at.
