Abstract
A garment for healthcare professionals has been provided comprising one or more articles of clothing, wherein the one or more articles of clothing comprise an internal lining. The one or more articles of clothing are made of a first fabric while the internal lining is made of a second fabric. The first fabric can be any of the fabrics known in the prior art to manufacture medical scrubs, such as cotton. The second fabric of the internal lining has thermal insulation properties, such as fleece. The first fabric and the second fabric might have elastic properties. Further, the second fabric could be less transparent than the first fabric. Additionally, at least one of the first fabric and the second fabric could be partially impermeable to fluids.
Description
- The present invention relates generally to the field of medical scrubs used by healthcare professionals. The present invention is more particularly directed to medical scrubs with an inner lining to provide warmth to the healthcare professionals while decreasing the transparency of the scrubs.
- Medical scrubs have become synonymous with healthcare professionals. Due to the regular replacement required because of the nature of the work these healthcare professional have, the medical scrubs are made in the cheapest possible way. As a result, these medical scrubs often are made of fabric which is quite thin and partially transparent.
- Now, healthcare professionals regularly work in temperature controlled environment with quite low temperatures to prevent spread of infections due to growth of various microbial organisms. The existing medical scrubs do not offer them any protection from the cold which might make the work environment unpleasant for several healthcare professionals. Further, the partial transparent nature of the medical scrubs may also make them uncomfortable. Due to these two reasons they might resort to using additional garments which may hinder their ability to function at their maximum efficiency.
- Clearly, there is a need for improvement in designing medical scrubs which would allow the healthcare professionals to feel comfortable in their working environment by keeping them warm and providing decreased transparency. The present invention provides such an improved design of medical scrubs.
- This section provides the various objectives which the present invention aims to achieve, along with a brief summary of the present invention.
- An object of the present invention is to provide medical scrubs with an improved design to the healthcare professionals which can keep them warm in their temperature controlled working environments.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide medical scrubs with an improved design to the healthcare professionals with decreased transparency than the existing medical scrubs.
- All of the advantages and features of the present invention are set forth in the description which follows, and will become apparent to those ordinarily skilled in the art upon examination of the following, or may be learned by practice of the invention. These advantages and features of the present invention will be more readily apparent when considered in reference to the following description and when taken in conjunction with the drawings below.
-
FIG. 1 is a first view of a shirt, as per an exemplary non-limiting embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 2 is another view of the shirt showing a first fabric and an internal lining of a second fabric, as per an exemplary non-limiting embodiment of the present invention; -
FIG. 3 is a first view of a pant, as per an exemplary non-limiting embodiment of the present invention; and -
FIG. 4 is another view of the pant showing a first fabric and an internal lining of a second fabric as shown in a cross-section half view seen along A-A, as per an exemplary non-limiting embodiment of the present invention. - The unique design of medical scrubs and its working as per the present invention has been explained henceforth using exemplary non-limiting embodiments of the present invention with reference to
FIGS. 1 to 4 . For the purpose of explaining, a non-limiting example of medical scrubs, comprising a top section (hereinafter referred to as shirt) and a bottom section (hereinafter referred to as pant), has been used. However, it would be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention is equally applicable to any variations of medical scrubs. - As per an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a garment for healthcare professionals comprising one or more articles of clothing has been provided. The garment, as per this embodiment comprises a
shirt 100 and apant 300, as shown inFIGS. 1 and 3 . Theshirt 100 and thepant 300 are made of afirst fabric 201 as shown inFIGS. 2 and 4 , wherein thefirst fabric 201 can be any of the fabrics known in the prior art to manufacture medical scrubs and other such garments for healthcare professionals, such as, but not limited to, using various combinations of polyester, cotton, spandex and rayon in different ratios. - The
shirt 100 and thepant 300 comprise an internal lining of asecond fabric 202, as shown inFIGS. 2 and 4 . Thesecond fabric 202 has thermal insulation properties. Non-limiting examples of thesecond fabric 202 may include flannel, fleece, wool, butter suede, cotton velour and stretch terry. The thermal insulation properties of thesecond fabric 202 of the internal lining would ensure that a healthcare professional wearing the garment is protected from the usually low temperature, temperature-controlled working environment, i.e. the healthcare professional feels warm enough to be comfortable and perform at his or her optimum efficiency without hindrance from the requirement of an additional warm garment, such as a woolen jacket. Further, thesecond fabric 202 should be less transparent than thefirst fabric 201 so that no one can see through the garment and the healthcare professional wearing the garment can feel comfortable. - As per another embodiment of the present invention, the
first fabric 201 and thesecond fabric 202 may have compositions which would provide elastic properties and hence, the garment will retain shape despite prolonged use by healthcare professional. Further, the elastic properties of thefirst fabric 201 and thesecond fabric 202 may allow more comfort while wearing the garment as the two fabrics will spread together while being worn by a healthcare professional. - As per yet another embodiment of the present invention, the
first fabric 201 and thesecond fabric 202 may have compositions which would be partially impermeable to fluids. Due to this, the healthcare professional wearing the garment would be partially protected from any spills which are quite common in their working environment. - Various modifications to the above described invention will be readily apparent to those ordinarily skilled in the art and the general principles defined herein may be applied to other embodiments and applications without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. Thus, the present invention is not intended to be limited to the embodiments described, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the principles and features disclosed herein. Therefore, the scope of the invention is to be determined by the terminology of the above description and the legal equivalents thereof.
