- Referring to
FIG. 1 , anexercise training device 100 is provided for athletic training in a variety of sports. In an example, theexercise training device 100 could be used for football training, such as assisting an athlete with hand placement and/or proper striking of a target. In an example, the athlete can choose to strike a rounded, spherical portion of theexercise training device 100, or can instead strike the flat/planar portion of theexercise training device 100. Theexercise training device 100 is relatively soft and compressible, such as comprising foam, sponge, rubber, liquid, gas, etc. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , theexercise training device 100 is illustrated. In an example, theexercise training device 100 comprises afirst bag portion 102 and asecond bag portion 104. Thefirst bag portion 102 can have a substantially quadrilateral shape, such as a rectangular shape (e.g., as illustrated), a square shape, etc. It will be appreciated that thefirst bag portion 102 is not limited to the illustrated shape, and other shapes (e.g., oval, circular, triangular) are envisioned. - The
first bag portion 102 comprises afirst side 108 and an opposingsecond side 110. In an example, thefirst side 108 can define afront surface 112 while thesecond side 110 can define arear surface 114. Thefirst side 108 and thesecond side 110 can be attached via one or morelateral sides 116. In an example, thelateral sides 116 extend non-parallel to (e.g., perpendicular to) thefirst surface 112 and thesecond surface 114. For example, thefirst surface 112 and thesecond surface 114 can extend substantially parallel to each other. The lateral sides 116 can be attached to a perimeter of thefirst surface 112 and thesecond surface 114, so as to extend between thefirst surface 112 and thesecond surface 114. - The
first bag portion 102 can be non-rigid and have at least some degree of compressibility or pliability. Thefirst bag portion 102 can comprise a lightweight and/or compressible material, such as foam, feathers, rubber, sponge, liquid, gas, and/or the like. In an example, thefirst bag portion 102 can comprise a bag that is filled with the compressible material. The bag can comprise, for example, leather and/or a synthetic material (e.g., vinyl, PVC, canvas, etc.) that is resistant to abrasion, mildew, cutting, tearing, etc. The bag can be substantially hollow and can be selectively opened, such as with a zipper, for example. The bag can be filled with the compressible material. As such, when the bag is closed (e.g., zipper teeth interlocked), thefirst bag portion 102 is soft and/or non-rigid, and can at least partially compress in response to a force. As such, a user can hit or strike thefirst bag portion 102 with energy being absorbed, dissipated, etc. by the first bag portion. - The
second bag portion 104 comprises afirst side 130 and asecond side 132. In an example, thefirst side 130 can define afirst surface 134 and can face in the same direction as thefirst side 108 of thefirst bag portion 102. In an example, thesecond side 132 can face in the same direction as thesecond side 110 of thesecond bag portion 104. That is, in an example, thesecond side 132 of thesecond bag portion 104 can face towards thefirst bag portion 102. In an example, thefirst surface 134 of thefirst side 130 can have a semi-spherical shape. For example, thefirst surface 134 can extend non-planar, and can define a rounded or curved shape that projects outwardly from thefront surface 112 of thefirst bag portion 102. - The
second bag portion 104 can be non-rigid and have at least some degree of compressibility or pliability. Thesecond bag portion 104 can comprise a lightweight and/or compressible material, such as foam, feathers, rubber, sponge, liquid, gas, and/or the like. In an example, thesecond bag portion 104 can comprise a bag that is filled with the compressible material. As such, when the bag is closed (e.g., zipper teeth interlocked), thesecond bag portion 104 is soft and/or non-rigid, and can at least partially compress in response to a force. Accordingly, a user can hit or strike thesecond bag portion 104 with energy being absorbed, dissipated, etc. by the second bag portion. - It is to be appreciated that the
first bag portion 102 and thesecond bag portion 104 can comprise the same or different materials. A bag of the first bag portion can comprise a material that is the same as or different than a material of a bag of the second bag portion (e.g., in color, composition, thickness, type, etc.) and/or at least some of the bag of the first bag portion can be filled with a material that is the same as or different than a material that fills at least some of the bag of the second bag portion (e.g., in composition, density, amount, type, etc.). A bag of the first bag portion can comprise a different number and/or type of openings than that of the second bag portion (e.g., to allow material(s) to be filled into the bags). At least some different openings of thefirst bag portion 102 can comprise the same or different closing mechanisms (e.g., zipper, hook and loop, adhesive, magnetic, etc.). At least some different openings of thesecond bag portion 102 can comprise the same or different closing mechanisms (e.g., zipper, hook and loop, adhesive, magnetic, etc.). At least some closing mechanisms of thefirst bag portion 102 can be the same or different than at least some of the closing mechanisms of thesecond bag portion 104. Thefirst bag portion 102 and/or thesecond bag portion 104 can comprise one or more baffles, pockets, etc. where one or more openings provide access thereto for filling with compressible material. Thefirst bag portion 102 and/or thesecond bag portion 104 can have a solid construction in conjunction with compressive material (e.g., rigid rubber, wood, metal, plastic, etc. planar and/or other structure at the rear surface of thefirst bag portion 102 and/or the second surface of thesecond bag portion 104 with compressible material filled there over (e.g., in one or more baffles, pockets, etc.)). - Referring to
FIG. 3 , thesecond side 110 of theexercise training device 100 is illustrated. Theexercise training device 100 comprises one or more user handles 300 disposed at therear surface 114 of thefirst bag portion 102. The user handles 300 are configured to allow a user to hold theexercise training device 100. In an example, the user handles 300 comprise afirst user handle 302, asecond user handle 304, athird user handle 306, afourth user handle 308, and afifth user handle 310. The user handles 300 can comprise, for example, straps, grips, holders, etc. When a user grips and holds the user handles 300, the user can lift and support theexercise training device 100. - The
first user handle 302 and the fifth user handle 308 can be positioned adjacent to anouter perimeter 312 of therear surface 114. In an example, thefirst user handle 302 and the fifth user handle 310 can be located in closer proximity to theouter perimeter 312 than thesecond user handle 304, thethird user handle 306, or thefourth user handle 308. In this way, due to the distance separating thefirst user handle 302 and thefifth user handle 310, a user can have alternative arrangements to grip theexercise training device 100. - The
second user handle 304, thethird user handle 306, and the fourth user handle 308 can be offset from thefirst user handle 302 and thefifth user handle 310. For example, anaxis 314 can intersect thefirst user handle 302 and the fifth user handle 310 while not intersecting thesecond user handle 304, thethird user handle 306, or thefourth user handle 308. Rather, thesecond user handle 304 and the fourth user handle 308 can be located on a first side of theaxis 314, while the third user handle 306 can be located on an opposing second side of theaxis 314. In an example, asecond axis 316 can intersect thesecond user handle 304 and thefourth user handle 308, with thesecond axis 316 parallel to and offset from theaxis 314. - In this way, the user can grip a variety of
different handles exercise training device 100. In an example, the user can choose to grip thesecond user handle 304 and the fourth user handle 308 when an athlete strikes a lower location of thesecond bag portion 104 and/or a lower location of thefirst bag portion 102. In the alternative, a user can choose to grip the third user handle 306 when an athlete strikes an upper location of thesecond bag portion 104 and/or an upper location of thefirst bag portion 102. The user can choose to grip thefirst user handle 302 and the fifth user handle 310 to limit rotation of theexercise training device 100 about anaxis 350. - It is to be appreciated, that any number, arrangement, configuration, etc. of user handles are contemplated herein. It is to be appreciated that not all user handles need be the same in type, function, construction, composition, configuration, attachment mechanism, etc. One user handle can have a first construction and another user handle can have a second construction. One user handle can be relatively soft (e.g., rope, burlap, fabric, etc.), while another user handle can be relatively rigid (e.g., plastic, wood, metal, etc.). One user handle can be attached to the
first bag portion 102 and/or thesecond bag portion 104 at multiple points or locations, with multiple (e.g., same or different) fasteners, etc., while another user handle can be attached to thefirst bag portion 102 and/or thesecond bag portion 104 at a single point or location with a single fastener (e.g., that is the same or different than a fastener(s) used to attach another user handle) or with multiple fasteners (e.g., that are the same or different than a fastener(s) used to attach another user handle). - Referring to
FIG. 4 , a second exampleexercise training device 400 is illustrated. In addition to the below, any of the foregoing discussion, features, etc. are applicable to theexercise training device 400. In an example, theexercise training device 400 can comprise thesecond bag portion 104 but not thefirst bag portion 102. Thesecond bag portion 104 comprises thefirst surface 134 having the semi-spherical shape. Thesecond side 132 can comprise asecond surface 402, opposing thefirst surface 134, which extends planar. In this way, thesecond bag portion 104 can comprise a half-spherical shape, with the user gripping thesecond surface 402 of thesecond side 132, and an athlete striking and/or contacting thefirst surface 134. - In an example, the
exercise training device 400 comprises the user handles 300. More particularly, theexercise training device 400 comprises thefirst user handle 302, thesecond user handle 304, thethird user handle 306, thefourth user handle 308, and thefifth user handle 310. The user handles 300 can be disposed at thesecond surface 402 of thesecond bag portion 104. - In an example, the third user handle 306 can be positioned in proximity to an
outer perimeter 404 of thesecond surface 400. The third user handle 306 can be separated between about 80 degrees to about 100 degrees from thefirst user handle 302. In an example, the third user handle 306 can be separated between about 80 degrees to about 100 degrees from thefifth user handle 310. In this way, thefirst user handle 302 and the fifth user handle 310 can be separated between about 160 degrees to about 200 degrees. - Referring to
FIG. 5 , a third exampleexercise training device 500 is illustrated. In addition to the below, any of the foregoing discussion, features, etc. are applicable to theexercise training device 500. In an example, thesecond bag portion 104 can be removably attached to thefirst bag portion 102. Thesecond bag portion 104 can be similar in structure to thesecond bag portion 104 illustrated inFIG. 4 . For example, thesecond bag portion 104 can comprise thefirst user handle 302, thesecond user handle 304, thethird user handle 306, thefourth user handle 308, and the fifth user handle 310 disposed at thesecond surface 402 of thesecond bag portion 104. - In an example, the
first bag portion 102 defines one ormore openings 501 that extend through thefront surface 112 and therear surface 114 of thefirst bag portion 102. For example, thefirst bag portion 102 defines afirst opening 502, asecond opening 504, athird opening 506, afourth opening 508, and afifth opening 510. Theopenings 501 can be aligned with the user handles 300 of thesecond bag portion 104. In this way, thesecond bag portion 104 can be brought into contact with thefirst bag portion 102, such that the user handles 300 can be positioned to extend through theopening 501. In the alternative, thesecond bag portion 104 can be separated from thefirst bag portion 102, as illustrated inFIG. 5 . It is to be appreciated that the openings can be of any size, shape, dimension, etc. and/or can differ from one another with regard to any one or more of the same. One opening can be dimensioned to accommodate a user handle having a relatively rectangular shape, while another opening can be dimensioned to merely allow a strap to slide there through (e.g., relatively flat user handle). - Referring to
FIG. 6 , a top down view of theexercise training device 500 comprising thefirst bag portion 102 and thesecond bag portion 104 is illustrated. In addition to the below, any of the foregoing discussion, features, etc. are applicable to theexercise training device 500. In an example, to attach thefirst bag portion 102 and thesecond bag portion 104, thesecond bag portion 104 can be moved towards thefirst bag portion 102 in amovement direction 600. In addition or in the alternative, thefirst bag portion 102 can be moved towards thesecond bag portion 104 in asecond movement direction 602. In this way, thefirst bag portion 102 and thesecond bag portion 104 can be moved closer towards each other. - As the
first bag portion 102 and thesecond bag portion 104 are moved towards each other, the user handles 300 can be aligned with theopenings 501. For example, the first user handle 302 can be aligned with thefirst opening 502. The second user handle 304 can be aligned with thesecond opening 504. The third user handle 306 can be aligned with thethird opening 506. The fourth user handle 308 can be aligned with thefourth opening 508. The fifth user handle 310 can be aligned with thefifth opening 510. - In an example, at least one of the user handles (e.g., 302, 304, 306, 308, 310) can have a
planar portion 608 that lies within aplane 610 that is parallel to aplane 612 within which thesecond surface 402 lies. For example, planar portion 608 of the user handles 302, 304, 306, 308, 310 can be spaced a distance apart from thesecond surface 402. Theplanar portion 608 can lie within theplane 610, wherein theplane 610 is parallel to theplane 612 within which thesecond surface 402 of thesecond bag portion 104 lies. - Referring to
FIGS. 7 and 8 , thefirst bag portion 102 and thesecond bag portion 104 can be attached. In addition to the below, any of the foregoing discussion, features, etc. are applicable to the exercise training device illustrated inFIGS. 7 and 8 . For example, the first user handle 302 can extend through thefirst opening 502. The second user handle 304 can extend through thesecond opening 504. The third user handle 306 can extend through thethird opening 506. The fourth user handle 308 can extend through thefourth opening 508. The fifth user handle 310 can extend through thefifth opening 510. In this way, thefirst user handle 302, thesecond user handle 304, thethird user handle 306, thefourth user handle 308, and the fifth user handle 310 can penetrate through thefirst bag portion 102, such as by being received within and extending through thefirst opening 502, thesecond opening 504, thethird opening 506, thefourth opening 508, and thefifth opening 510. - The user can grip one or more of the user handles 300 to support the
exercise training device 500. For example, when the user grips one or more of the user handles 300, thefirst bag portion 102 is sandwiched between thesecond bag portion 104 and the user's hands. Thesecond bag portion 104 is limited from being inadvertently removed or detached from thesecond bag portion 104 at least until the user releases the user handles 300. When the user releases the user handles 300, thefirst bag portion 102 and thesecond bag portion 104 can be detached from one another. - In this way, the user has the option of using the
second bag portion 104 without thefirst bag portion 102, or using a combination of thefirst bag portion 102. For example, in a first method of use, the user can grip the user handles 300 of thesecond bag portion 104 without passing the user handles 300 through theopenings 501 in thefirst bag portion 102. As such, the user can grip and support thesecond bag portion 104 without thefirst bag portion 102. In another method of use, the user can pass the user handles 300 through theopenings 501 of thefirst bag portion 102, such that thefirst bag portion 102 and thesecond bag portion 104 can be attached. - The
second bag portion 104 can be used with a different instance of the first bag portion 102 (e.g., having a different size, shape, composition, density, weight, texture, etc.) such as by passing one or more user handles through an opening in the different instance of thefirst bag portion 102 and/or thefirst bag portion 102 can be used with a different instance of the second bag portion 104 (e.g., having a different size, shape, composition, density, weight, texture, etc.), such as by passing one or more handles of the different instance of thesecond bag portion 104 through an opening in thefirst bag portion 102.. - Referring to
FIGS. 9 and 10 , an example of auser handle 900 is illustrated. In addition to the below, any of the foregoing discussion, features, etc. are applicable to the subject matter described with respect toFIGS. 9 and 10 . The user handle 900 can be similar or identical to the user handles 300, and can be used in association with thefirst bag portion 102 and/or thesecond bag portion 104. In an example, the user handle 900 can be rotatable relative to therear surface 114 of thefirst bag portion 102. In an example, the user handle 900 can be rotated along arotational direction 902 relative to therear surface 114. In an example, the user handle 900 can be pivotally attached to therear surface 114 of thefirst bag portion 102 to facilitate rotatability. - The user handle 900 can be rotated between a first position, which is illustrated in
FIG. 9 , and a second position, which is illustrated inFIG. 10 . In an example, the user handle 900 in first position and the second position can define an angle that is between about 80 degrees to about 100 degrees. In an example, the user handle 900 in the first position and the second position can define an angle that is about 90 degrees. A user handle can be locked or fixed in position before or after being rotated (e.g., one or more times to one or more degrees), such as by a ratcheting mechanism or the like. - Rotation of the user handle 900 can facilitate easier and more effective gripping by the user. For example, the user can grip the
handle 900 and selectively rotate thehandle 900 between the first position and the second position, or positions in between. Rotation of thehandle 900 can allow for the user to support theexercise training device exercise training device 100, the amount of the force applied, etc. - A user handle can be attached to the
first bag portion 102 and/or thesecond bag portion 104 using any attachment mechanism, such as a rod, bolt, screw, washer, nut, hook and loop, magnet, etc. For example, a strap can be tied and/or otherwise attached to a grommet in thefirst bag portion 102 and/or thesecond bag portion 104.
