Abstract

A wrap foil dispenser, comprising a base plate, provided with a channel, through which a blade glides. As part of a cutter assembly which glides along a guide, the blade slides and cuts the foil without touching the plate. The cutter assembly includes an arm which ensures that the blade engages the foil. In case the plate is laterally tilted or the cutter is slid by hand, the cutter assembly moves along a channel to which cutting edges of the blade are placed inside. When the blade is moved, the foil, placed on the upper side of the channel, is cut. The blade's vertical position is uniform as a result of the cutting assembly pressing through the arm's own weight which is limited by a buffer element. The dispenser may include a rotating support, provided with two conical elements that ensure mounting of foil rolls having various dimensions.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to a dispenser for wrap foil preferably wounded on an cylindrical core. The dispenser is used to unroll and then to cut thin and very thin foils from a foil roll. The cutting is done over a channel of a base plate, by a blade part of a cutter assembly. The channel is parallel with a guiding element of the cutter.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The state of the art presents devices with a serrated knife edge on witch the foil is pressed and cut. This knife edge is fixed on a box that sometimes is the package of the foil roll, too. The disadvantage of these devices is that the cutting is not made very easy and after cutting it does not remain a free foil portion, necessarily to be caught by hand, in order to further unroll the foil and for performing the next cutting operation.
  • Also, there are known further devices that are able to execute the cutting using a long blade having the length of the whole roll, along the foils width, but, sometimes the cutting is not effective or complete. The notable drawbacks are that the foil should be very thin or the cutter is worn-out. Also, the existent cutting devices cannot be used for foil rolls having a large range of the inner or outer diameters or alternatively, different lengths/width of the roll.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The purpose of the invention is to achieve a wrap foil dispenser that executes the cutting of the foils by a blade. The cutting operation is achieved in a comfortable manner, with a small effort of the user and insignificant blade wear. After the cutting operation, a free foil portion is disposed in order to be caught by hand, so as to easily unroll the next foil portion and to perform the next cutting.
  • The cutting blade is part of a cutter assembly that slides on a guide. The cutter assembly can be moved by two methods. Firstly, it can be slid by hand along the guide, for example in case the foil dispenser is placed on a table or on a shelf. Secondly, the dispenser can be held in the user's hand and tilted, the cutter assembly slides on the guide in the tilting direction and simultaneously it presses the foil, thus, the foil being cut towards the tilt direction set by the guide.
  • Also, this device is provided with a rotating support that ensures the emplacement and the unrolling of the foil rolls, thus allowing the use of a large range of foil rolls with various inner diameter, outer diameter and foil length.
  • According to the invention, the wrap foil dispenser comprises: a base plate, provided with a channel and two lateral walls, the lateral walls are provided with supporting elements for a guide that is substantially parallel with a channel, a cutting assembly sliding on a guide and, provided with a blade gliding inside said channel, a rotating support for the foil roll and a guiding pipe. To control the position of the blade up to the base of the channel, the cutting blade's movement on vertical direction is limited by a buffer element preferably of disk type, which rotates on an ax part of the cutting assembly. Thus, the blade is not in direct contact with the plate and its wear will be reduced.
  • The cutting assembly's body is made of a heavy material, thus, the cutting assembly is pressed upon the foil by its own weight in order to fulfill the cutting. Advantageously, when the dispenser is tilted, the cutter assembly slides in lateral direction due to its own weight. The cutting assembly weight forces, dispersed on the tilting direction exceeds the friction forces resulted from the friction of the cutter assembly with the guiding system.
  • The advantage of the invention is that using the dispenser according to the invention, the foil can be cut without effort and quickly, in a comfortable manner. The dispenser can be easy manipulated by a single hand, by tilting the dispenser in order to slide the cutter assembly, or alternatively, by placement of the device on a fixed substantially horizontal surface, and moving the cutter assembly by hand along the guide.
  • Also, another advantage is that the cutting blade operates only on the foil, therefore, it is ensured a long time exploitation of the blade, with a reduced wear. After the cutting operation is performed, the dispenser according to the invention disposes a free unrolled portion of foil, to be caught again by hand for the next dispensing.
  • The invention provides a dispenser has a rotating support comprising a pipe and two conical elements. The conical elements may slide slowly, with friction, on the support pipe, and the distance between the conical elements may be easily adapted. Thus, on the rotating support, can be placed foil rolls having a large range of outer or inner diameters, or different roll length.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERENTIAL EMBODIMENT
  • In accordance with the invention, the wrap foil dispenser comprises a plate 2, provided with a channel 3, through which a blade 6 of the cutter assembly 5 glides along the channel. The cutter assembly 5 slides along a guiding element 4, having a pipe shape. The sliding guide 4 guides and supports the cutter assembly 5 along the channel 3.
  • The cutter assembly 5 is provided with an arm 7, preferably made of a heavy material, thus, by its own weight, it presses the blade 6 on the foil 16, that must be cut. The arm 7 has an adequate length, therefore between the cutting blade 6 and the sliding guide 4 will exist a distance that allows that a portion of unrolled foil to be caught by hand, after performing the cutting operation.
  • The base plate 2 has two lateral walls, i.e., the left wall 17 and the right wall 18, each being provided with supporting elements 19 and 20 for the sliding guide 4 and supporting elements 21 and 22 for the rotating support 12. The sliding guide 4 is positioned substantially parallel with the channel 3, thus, the cutter assembly 5 can slide upon it. When the plate is tilted laterally, the cutter assembly 5 will slide due to its own weight.
  • The dispersed cutter's weight force exceeds its friction force with the guide 4, therefore, the cutter assembly blade 6 moves along the channel 3.
  • The cutting operation is performed as follows: the foil 16 is placed on the upper side of the channel, the blade 6 enters the channel 3, thus, when the blade moves along the channel, the foil is cut.
  • Inside the channel, the blade's positioning on vertical direction is set by a buffer element, preferably a disk 10, component of the cutter assembly 5. The distance between the peak point “c” of the blade 6 and the bottom of the channel 3 is determined by the disk's 10 radius.
  • The cutter assembly 5, and thus the blade 6, is pressed by the arm's 7 weight. When the cutter assembly 5 moves laterally, along the channel 3, the disk 10 turns up on a shaft 9, which can be a screw, provided with a rotating bush 11.
  • The dispenser 1 comprises a rotating support 12, positioned on the supporting elements 21 and 22. These supporting elements can have the shape of some ribs placed on the lateral walls 17 and 18 of the base plate 2, thus, ensuring the easy rotation upon their axle, here represented by the support pipe 13. The rotating support includes in a preferred embodiment, two conical elements, i.e. cone shape 14, provided with a hole on the axle, through which the support pipe 13 is passing by friction. The conical elements can be of full cone type, in accordance with FIG. 15 or walls type, having conical shape, in accordance with FIG. 16. The full cone shape of the conical elements 14 allows mounting on the rotating support of foil rolls having various inner diameters, i.e. dimensions between the minimum and maximum cone's radius. Also, due to the mounting of the conical elements by friction, on the rotating support's pipe, foil rolls having various lengths can be mounted on it, by positioning the foil roll between the two cones, placed with the peaks face to face, top of the cone inside of the foil roll. The placement of the cones on the pipe is made by a forced movement, preferably by hand.
  • In a preferred embodiment, the wrap foil dispenser comprises a rotating pipe 25 which guides the end of the foil unrolled from the foil roll, below the lower part of the cutter assembly 5, and towards the peak of the blade 6, preventing the foil to be stuck by the arm 7 of the cutter assembly. In order to have smooth rotation of the rotating pipe 25, it has at the ends two gougeons 23 rotating in two holes 24 of the walls 17 and 18.
