. In Germany March 18, 1932 3 Claims. (Cl. 2l)411) My present invention relates to a galvanizing apparatus for producing electro-deposits, especially electro-deposits of chromium.
According to my invention the galvanizing ap- 5 paratus is constructed in such a manner, that a perforated basket is situated-within the rotatin drum receiving the electrolyte, which is rotatably connected to the drum. By this arrangement a steadiness is created within the electrolyte, since the latter and-the drum are simultaneously rotating. Therefore the current lines can not be interrupted by the perforated basket and thus a continued surface-contact for the current lines is assured. Also the speed of rotation may be increased as required without interruption of the current lines. Further owing to the increased speed of rotation the centrifugal force may be suited to the weight of the articles to be galvanized, so that. additional powers for proper distribution of the articles within the drum are a not necessary. Owing to this fact articles made of other metals than iron may be galvanized.

Within this drum is situated a perforated and funnel-shaped basket 11, which is rotatably connected with the drum and serves to receive the articles to be gel- .vanized. Onboth sides of the basket d are placed the internal-anode e and the extemal-anode ,f into which the current is sent in known manner by The rotatable drum is surrounded by a case a which catches the distributed bath solution andis provided at the top with an accumulating pipeh for the purpose to let escape the gases produced within the drum during the galvanizing process.
Thesaid basket d may alsobe made of insulating material and provided with very small holes, the diameter of which is less than 1,5 mm. Thereby the current conductors aresunk so far within the wall of the basket, that they project only a very little.
According to Fig. 2 of the drawing a further basket 1' is arranged concentricallyto the first basket d, which is also perforated and carries the current conductors on both its sides. By this basket so constructed the articles distributed upon 19 the inner surface of the first basket d are pressed firmly down, this is obtained by weighted levers, which engage with a collar bearing is connected with the basket 2'. On both outsides of the surfaces of the baskets d and i the external and in- 15 ternal anodes l and m are arranged, by means of which the current is sent over the slip rings and contacts. The rotating drum 0. is surrounded by a fixed spray-case n, which carries a drain cock leading to a container adapted to receive the 20 drained bath solution.
.Naturally the described apparatus not only serves for electro-depositing chromium,but can also be used for other deposits.

A galvanizing apparatus consisting of a rotating drum receiving the electrolyte, comprising in combination a perforated and funnel-shaped basket placed within said drum and connected rotatably with the latter, a second funnel-shaped so basket situated concentrically within said first basket and connected rotatably with the latter, external and internal anodes placed on both sides of both the baskets within said-drum.,and connected rotatably with the latter. 5

A galvanizing apparatus consisting of a rotating drum receiving the electrolyte, comprising in combination a perforated and funnel-shaped basket placed within said drum and connected rotatably with the latter, a second "funnel-shaped o basket situated concentrically within said first basket and connected rotatably with the latter,
external and internal anodes placed on both sides of both said baskets within the drum, a collar bearing arranged on the second basket, weighted 45 levers adapted to'engage with said collar.
