Abstract
An appts. for electrolytic treatment consists of a cylinder rotating about its axis with an opening at one end for receiving the parts to be treated and an opening at the other end for discharging the treated parts, forming a vat for the electrolyte in which the cathode and anode dip. The cathode is constituted by a conducting element concentric with the inner wall of the cylinder and rotating with it, e.g. a squirrel cage. The anode is constituted by an element positioned under the surface of the bath and extends over the length of the cylinder. Means, pref. a spiral wall, are provided for making the treated pieces progress from the inlet end of the cylinder to the outlet end. The invention remedies inconveniences of existing appts., including the large space occupied and the large number of vessels required in installations in line and the rapid decomposition, the slow rate of depositing and the handling problems in existing appts. of the drum type, and the face that the process is not continuous. The process allows continuous operation, uses less electrolytic bath, rinsing water or chemical bath and consumes less energy. The different treatment apparatuses can be combined so as to minimise the space required.
