Abstract

This invention is an all natural fabric robe for yoga practitioners to use to meditate in and to comfort oneself and provide warmth during the final part of the yoga practice of Śavāsana. It has a front, rear and back body with a snug, stand-up collar, an arrow shaped hood, asymmetrical bell-shaped sleeves, a fabric flap, 7 circular-like designs and 7 series of 3-lined phrases. ‘The wearer’ can only put the robe on and take it off by stepping into and out of the garment through a vertical mid-body zipper opening. There are two 180 degrees horizontal demarcated seam lines across the front of the garment—one across the breastplate area of the robe and the other across the groin area of the robe. The fabric flap fastens on the inside to expose the feet and fastens on the outside to cover the feet. The seven circular designs on the robe are placed and colored to represent the 7 main chakra centers on the body. The seven 3-lined phrases are on the back of the robe and are placed and colored to represent the 7 main chakra centers on the body. On the back of the robe, there is a spiral that extends from the crown of the robe to the base of the spine.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates to the field of clothing, a garment for the fitness practice of yoga. More specifically, the invention is structured to highlight certain functions of the yoga resting period Śavāsana
2. Description of Related Art
There are many known robes for mediation. Most of these robes are associated with religious based practices like Buddhism, Zen, and ‘Ritual’ practitioners. Buddhist robes resemble long night gowns. Zen robes resemble kimonos. Both Buddhist and Zen robes are mostly thin in structure, without hoods. ‘Ritual’ robes can resemble cloaks. Most of them are thickly, structured and have big elaborate hoods. On all these three types of robes, the robes are not always fabricated with natural or authentic fabrics. Also, on all of the three mentioned robes, the feet are almost always exposed if ‘the wearer’ is standing. Only occasionally, in either or all of the three mentioned robes, the fabric that makes up the garment is big enough to fall over ‘the wearer's’ feet. The sleeves in the three robe types are usually symmetrical. In addition, rarely are any of the stated robes closed with fasteners AND none of the three robes require the only way to put the robe on and take the robe off is at the zipper opening down the middle front body of the robe. Generally, neither Zen, Buddhist or ritual robes are made with color-specific designs that are strategically placed on the garment.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

The item is an all natural only fabric robe with a hood whose ‘thickness’ prevents it from resembling a gown or kimono and its less loosely hanging hood and sleeves prevents it from resembling a cloak. The robe is tapered at the torso and continuously billows out. It covers the body 360 degrees from head to toe with the attachment of an additional fabric flap that is used to cover the feet. It has asymmetrical bell-shaped sleeves that extend from the shoulders to the wrists on the front of the arm with the highest point extending on the bottom beneath the knuckle of the middle finger on the back side of the hand. The collar is a snug, stand- up type. The hood is arrow-shaped, wider at the sides and curving towards the top, configured to fall low, reaching the center of the forehead. There are two horizontally demarcated seam lines on the front body of the garment. Both lines extend 180 degrees across the front body of the robe of the invention. The first line is at the breastplate area of the robe. The second line is across the groin area of the robe. Central and vertical through the 1^sthorizontally demarcated seam line and stopping at the 2^ndhorizontally demarcated seam line is a zipper. To put the robe on, the person ‘steps into it’ through the zipper opening at the 2^ndhorizontally demarcated seam line area at the groin area of the robe and pulls the garment up over their shoulders. To take the robe off, the person ‘steps out of it’ at the zipper opening at the 2^ndhorizontal demarcated seam line at the groin area of the robe. If the feet are exposed, the robe is fastened up to the 2^ndhorizontal demarcation seam line at the groin area of the robe. If the feet are covered, the robe is fastened up to the ankle area of the robe. Three socket-parts of snaps are placed equidistant on the bottom-est outside part of the fabric flap. Three stud-parts of snaps are placed at the ankle area of the robe, on the outside, aligning with the socket-parts of the snaps at the bottom of the fabric flap of the robe. Three stud-parts of snaps are placed on the inside rear body of the robe at the 2^ndhorizontal demarcation groin seam line, aligning with the socket-parts of the snaps on the robe. There are six designs on the front of the garment. Half of the seventh design, which is on the hood, is also visible on the front of the garment, if ‘the wearer’ has the hood on (the other half of the 7^thdesign is visible from the back of the garment, if ‘the wearer’ has the hood on). The designs are the circular symbols that are used to denote the placement of the 7 main chakras on the body. The designs are vertically placed along the center bodice. The designs are single-colored representing, in spectrum order, all seven colors in the visible color spectrum. There are seven 3-lined word phrases on the back of the robe, including the hood. The phrases are placed vertically along the center of the garment. The words within the phrases are structured horizontally. Each phrase is a single color with seven colors total. The phrases represent the seven colors in the visible color spectrum.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention, following a pre-created pattern, can be fabricated by hand, although for bulk orders, it is recommended that sewing machinery be used. The size dimensions are approximated and are not individually specific. The general measurement standard in the US, used for garments, will be used. There are six sections to constructing the robe: 1) the full body, without the collar, hood, sleeves, fabric flap, or designs and phrases; 2) the collar; 3) the hood; 4) the sleeves; 5) the fabric flap; and 6) the designs and phrases. The materials used for the invention is 100% natural fabric, a zipper, and any style of printing (silk screening or vinyl printing) or decorating (embroidery) for the designs that are on the robe.
The full body section of the robe is made up of the top and bottom front body, the inside rear body and the back body. The length of the robe extends from the collarbones to the ankles. The top front body (the torso area) of the robe tapers along the sides of the body up till the rib area and then it billows out like a bag. It has a seam line going across the breastplate area of the robe. This is the 1^sthorizontal demarcation seam line. The bottom front body has a seam line going across the groin area of the robe. This is the 2^ndhorizontal demarcation seam line. The 2^ndhorizontally demarcated seam line at the groin area of the robe is also the end of the top front body and is the length of the distance from the groin area of the body to the ankle area of the body. A vertical, middle opening is configured on the top front body for the zipper. This opening extends from the top of the snug, stand-up collar to the 2^ndhorizontal demarcation seam line. The inside rear body of the robe section of the robe that is the back side of the two sides of the robe, on the inside. The length of the inside rear body is the same length as the length of the top and bottom front body of the robe. The back body is the back of the robe. Its length is the same as the distance of the inside rear body which is equal to the top and bottom front body.
The snug, stand-up collar is attached to the full body section of the robe. The collar should fall about 2 cm under the tip of the chin. It has a circumference that is approximately equal to the length of the diameter from shoulder blade to shoulder blade. The approximate height dimensions are 1.5″-2″. The width is about 0.5 cm.
The arrow shaped hood attaches to the snug, stand up collar. It widens at the sides with about an inch of space on each side and curves out at the top. There are two visible designs on the hood. The designs are positioned to represent the symbols, colors and placement of the sixth and seventh chakras on the body. There are 2 series of 3-lined phrases. The phrases are positioned to represent the meanings and colors of the sixth and seventh chakras on the body. The placement of the phrase on the hood of the robe coinciding with the sixth chakra is placed 1″ beneath the placement of the design that coincides with the 6^thchakra on the body. The placement of the phrase on the hood of the robe coinciding with the seventh chakra is placed 1″ beneath the placement of the design that coincides with the 7^thchakra on the body.
The asymmetrical, bell sleeves extend from the shoulder blades to the wrist. The lowest point on the sleeve is at the top of the sleeve. The highest point of the sleeve is at the bottom of the sleeve. The highest point of the sleeve rest beneath the knuckle of the middle finger on the back side of the hand. The length of the asymmetrical high point of the sleeve is 2 inches.
The fabric flap is an additional piece of fabric that extends two feet laterally from the bottom part of the robe. The fabric flap is configured with snaps that allow it to be fastened up to the ankle area of the robe and to the 2^ndhorizontal demarcation groin seam line area of the robe by aligning the socket and stud parts of snaps. There are three socket-parts of snaps, placed equidistantly, at the bottom-est part of the fabric flap that can fasten up to the 2^ndhorizontally demarcated seam line at the groin area and up to the ankle area. There are six stud-parts of snaps. Three stud-parts of snaps are placed equidistantly, on the inside rear body at the 2^ndhorizontal demarcation groin seam line of the robe. Three stud-parts of snaps are placed, equidistantly, on the bottom-est part of the outside of the bottom front body of the robe. The three socket-parts of snaps can fasten up to the three stud-parts of snaps at the 2^ndhorizontal demarcation seam groin line area of the robe to expose the feet and up to the ankle area of the robe to cover the feet.
There are five visible designs on the front top body of the robe. The designs are positioned to represent the symbols, colors and placement of the first five chakras on the body. On the back body of the robe, there are 5 series of 3-lined phrases. The phrases are positioned to represent the meanings, colors and placement of the first five chakras on the body. A two-opening spiral is interlaced through the 7 phrases. The first opening is at the center of the robe directly above the 4^th3-lined phrase. The spiral widens our in three curves that increase in size all the way out to the sleeves. The second opening rests directly underneath the 2^ndline of the 3-lined phrase right below the crown on the hood of the robe.
FIG. 1 shows a frontal view of the robe of the invention with the two 2 horizontally demarcated seam lines, the snug, stand-up collar, the middle, front body zipper, the asymmetrical bell-shaped sleeves and the 6 designs, individually colored and placed to match the first 6 colors in the visible color spectrum plus half of the 7^thdesign, colored and placed to match the 7^thcolor in the visible color spectrum. The full-body section of the robe, without the collar, sleeves, hood, and additional fabric flap goes from the chin to the ankles. The two seams go laterally 180 degrees across the robe. invention. The first seam goes across the breastplate area of the robe. This is the horizontal demarcated breastplate seam line area of the robe of the invention. The second seam goes across groin area of the robe. This is the horizontal demarcated groin seam line area of the robe of the invention. The zipper on the robe is placed vertically down the middle of the torso beginning at the 2^ndhorizontally demarcated seam line and going through the 1^sthorizontally demarcated seam line then through the snug, stand-up collar before ending under the chin. The zipper on the robe is placed vertically down the middle of the torso beginning at ‘the groin’ line and going through ‘the breast plate’ line and then through the snug, stand-up collar before ending under the chin. The zipper allows the robe to only be opened and closed along the middle, front body at the torso. The middle, front body zipper opening at the torso is the only way ‘the wearer’ can put-the robe on and take the robe off. ‘The wearer’ unzips the robe and ‘steps into the robe’ and lifts the garment over the shoulders to put the robe on and unzips the robe and ‘steps out of it’ to take the robe off. The asymmetrical sleeves extend from shoulder to wrist with the highest point of the sleeves resting on the bottom beneath the knuckle of the middle finger on the back side of the hand. The six completely visible designs on the front of the robe of the invention are meant to represent and denote the placement of the 1^stsix main chakra points on the front body. The first design is all red and is placed at the pubic bone area of the robe of the invention. It is a circle with a square placed equidistantly inside with each of the four vertices of the square touching a diagonal point on the circle. Inside the square is a triangle that is centered. The circle is outlined with four curves of the same size, reminiscent of a stretched out four leaf clover. The second design is all orange and is placed at the lower abdomen/sexual organs area of the robe of the invention. It is a circle with a smaller circle inside. The smaller circle is placed on top of the larger circle, thus, exposing a 315 degree crescent in the space between the larger and smaller circles. The larger circle is outlined with six shapes of the same size, which go around the circle. Each shape looks like the top of an acorn. The third design is all yellow and is placed at the solar plexus area of the robe of the invention. It is a circle with an equilateral triangle in its center. The vertices of the triangle each touch a point on the circle. The circle is outlined with ten shapes of the same-sized that go around the circle. Each shape looks like a bottle nipple. The fourth design is all green and is placed at the heart center area of the robe of the invention. It is a circle with two equilateral triangles equally placed at its center. The triangles are inverted making it whereas a vertex on one triangle is pointing directly North and a vertex on the 2nd triangle is pointing directly South. Also, the other two vertices on each triangle are equally placed where they're touching a point on the circle. The circle is outlined with twelve same-sized arcs with a point at each of their centers. The fifth design is all blue and is placed at the throat area of the robe of the invention. It is a circle with an equilateral triangle inside it, at its center. The triangle has each of its vertices touching a point on the circle. Centrally placed inside the triangle is another circle. This second circle is sized insofar as each line of the triangle has a point from the circle touching it. Outlining the first circle are sixteen inverted v's which are all the same size. The sixth design is all indigo and is placed at third eye center area on the hood of the robe of the invention. It is a circle with an equilateral triangle placed centrally inside it. The triangle has each of its three vertices touching a point on the circle. The circle is outlined only at its sides, with the same shapes on both sides. The shapes look like a set of curved parenthesis, one bigger and one smaller. The parenthetical shapes are from the top of the circle to the bottom.
FIG. 2 is a frontal view of the robe of the invention showing the optional feature of adding a word in each design. The words added correlate with the first 6 colors in the visible color spectrum: ‘Earth’ (15) in the red design, ‘Water’ (16) in the orange design, ‘Fire’ (17) in the yellow design, ‘Air’ (18) in the green design, ‘Sound’ (19) in the blue design, and ‘Light (20) in the indigo design.
FIG. 3 shows a back view of the robe of the invention with the seven 3-lined word phrases individually colored to match the seven colors in the visible color spectrum and strategically placed on the robe of the invention to represent the body's 7 main chakras along the spine. The first line of the 3-lined phrases is the letter ‘I’ plus a word that correlates with each individually color spectrum design. The second and third lines in the 3-lined phrases are words that refer to the emotional or physical connection to the human body. The first phrase is placed at the coccyx part of the spine (C4) of the robe of the invention. The phrase is ‘I Am’ (21) in the 1^stline and ‘Survival, Groundedness, Connection’ plus ‘Reproductive, Sexual Vitality’ (28), respectively in the 2^ndand 3^rdlines of the 1^stphrase. The second phrase is placed at the sacral part of the spine (at S4) of the robe of the invention. The phrase is ‘I Feel’ (22) in the 1^stline and ‘Relationships, Social Interaction’ plus ‘Lower Intestines, Digestive System’ (29), respectively in the 2^ndand 3^rdlines of the 2^ndphrase. The third phrase is placed at the lumbar part of the spine (L4) of the robe of the invention. The phrase is ‘I Do’ (23) in the 1^stline and ‘Personal Power, Emotional Balance’ plus ‘Metabolism, Stomach, Liver’ (30), respectively in the 2^ndand 3^rdlines of the 3^rdphrase. The forth phrase is placed at the thoracic part of the spine (T4) of the robe of the invention. The phrase is ‘I Love’ (24) in the 1^stline and ‘Integration of Physical and Mental Self’ plus ‘Heart, Circulatory System, Respiratory System’ (31), respectively in the 2^ndand 3^rdlines of the 4^thphrase. The fifth phrase is placed at the cervical part of the spine (C4) of the robe of the invention. The phrase is ‘I Speak’ (25) in the 1^stline and ‘Vibration of Sound-Language’ plus ‘Thymus and Thyroid Glands’ (32), respectively in the 2^ndand 3^rdlines of the 5^thphrase. The sixth phrase is placed two inches above the top of the back neck crease on the hood of the robe of the invention. The phrase is ‘I See’ (26) in the 1^stline and ‘Perceiving Higher Self’ plus ‘Faculty Governess of Senses’ (33), respectively in the 2^ndand 3^rdlines of the 6^thphrase. The seventh phrase is placed one inch underneath the crown design on the hood of the robe of the invention. The phrase is ‘I Understand’ (27) in the 1^stline and ‘Conscious Awareness’ plus ‘Head, Nervous System’ (34), respectively in the 2^ndand 3^rdlines of the 7^thphrase.
FIG. 4 is a back view showing the spiral (36) feature with the two openings; one opening directly above the 4^th3-lined phrase and the other opening resting underneath the 2^ndline of the 3-lined phrase right below the crown on the hood of the robe.
FIG. 5 is an aerial view of the hood of the invention showing the 7^thdesign (35) colored to match the 7th color in the visible color spectrum. It is a series of three circles, a large circle, a medium circle and a small circle. The large circle is 2 sizes larger than the medium circle, which is 2× the size of the smallest circle. In the space between the medium and large circles are upside down v's sitting side by side like rocky grooves. The rocky groove-type images touch each other, but, don't overlap and they are extended all the way out to the inner edge of the large circle.

Claims

1. A robe that has a front body and a rear body; wherein the robe tapers at the torso and has a bag-like lower body; wherein the robe comprises a snug, stand-up collar; wherein the robe comprises an arrow shaped hood that widens at the sides and curves out towards a point at the top; wherein the hood attaches to the stand-up collar; wherein the robe comprises a 1^sthorizontal demarcation seam line 180 degrees across the breastplate area of the robe; wherein the robe comprises a 2^ndhorizontal demarcation seam line 180 degrees across the groin area of the robe; wherein the robe comprises asymmetrical, bell-shaped sleeves; wherein the robe has a middle front zipper along the front body of the robe; wherein the robe has a fabric flap that can be fastened up to the groin area demarcation seam line and at the ankle area of the robe; wherein when the fabric flap is fastened to the groin area demarcation seam line of the robe, it fastens up on the inside rear body of the robe; wherein when the fabric flap is fastened to the ankle area of the robe, it fastens up on the outside, bottom front body portion of the robe; wherein the robe has 6 individual designs located on front body portion of the robe representing placement of 6 main chakra points on the body; wherein the robe has 1 design located on the crown portion of the hood of the robe representing the placement of a last main chakra point on the body; wherein the robe has 7 series of 3-lined phrases located on the back of the robe representing placement of 7 main chakra points on the body.

8. The robe of claim 1, wherein the zipper extends vertically down the middle of the robe, starting from an opening in the snug, stand-up collar through to the 1^stdemarcation seam line at the breastplate area of the robe to the 2^ndhorizontal demarcation seam line at the groin area of the robe.

The robe of claim 1, wherein the zipper allows the robe to only be opened and closed along the middle, front body at the torso; wherein the zipper opening is the only way ‘the wearer’ can put the robe on by stepping into the robe and lifting the garment over the shoulders and take the robe off by removing the robe from the shoulders and stepping out of the robe.

10. The robe of claim 1, wherein the asymmetrical sleeves are configured to extend from shoulder to wrist of the wearer; wherein the highest points of the sleeves falls at the bottom portion of the sleeve, resting beneath the knuckle of the middle finger on the back side of the hand.

11. The robe of claim 1, wherein the fabric flap is attached to the bottom of the robe;

wherein the fabric flap is two additional feet of the same fabric extended from the bottom of the robe; wherein the fabric flap is quadrangular shaped; wherein the length of the two lateral sides are equal to each other and the length of the top and bottom sides are equal to each other; wherein the bottom side of the fabric flap has three socket-parts of snaps placed on the outside of the robe, equidistantly between each other; wherein three stud-parts of snaps are placed at the ankle area of the robe, aligning with the three socket parts of the snaps; wherein three stud parts of snaps are placed on the inside rear body of the robe at the 2^ndhorizontal demarcated groin seam line, aligning with the three socket-parts of the snaps at the bottom of the robe.

The robe of claim 1, with a spiral; wherein the spiral has two openings; wherein the 1^stspiral opening is at the center of the back of the robe directly above the 4^th3-lined phrase, from the bottom; wherein the spiral widens out in three curves that increase in size all the way out to the sleeves; wherein the 2^ndspiral opening rests directly underneath the 2^ndline of the 3-lined phrase right below the crown on the hood of the robe.
