Abstract

A diamond cutter push-up bar that provides a user with multiple methods for performing workout regimens. A push-up frame, elevated by a support structure, is formed from a first frame member, a second frame member, a third frame member, a fourth frame member, and a diagonal support member. The first frame member, second frame member, third frame member, and fourth frame are connected to form a diamond shaped structure, while the diagonal support member is positioned within the diamond shaped structure and reinforces the push-up frame. A plurality of hand grips is connected to the push-up frame being positioned around each frame member and the diagonal support member to enhance the grip, comfort, and safety of the user while using the diamond cutter push-up bar. Multiple push-up variants can be performed by utilizing a plurality of unique hand grips about the push-up frame.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates generally to an apparatus used for working out that provides a user with multiple methods for performing workout regimens. Furthermore, the present invention is a portable workout apparatus.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Bodyweight exercises are a popular form of working out as they require little to no equipment yet can yield excellent results. As bodyweight exercises require little to no equipment they provide an excellent workout platform for individuals without a gym membership, who are on vacation, etc. One of the most popular bodyweight exercise is the push-up. As such, a variety of push-up bars have been developed to enhance this particular exercise. These push-up bars generally provide a padded surface with one or more hand positions along a central axis. The main focus of these push-up bars follows the traditional push-up exercise while adding variations in the distance between the placement of an individual's hands. While these push-up bars provide an adequate workout platform, they lack in the variety of styles of exercises that can be performed. As users are limited to standard push-ups, traditional push-up bars are not conducive to high intensity workouts.
  • Therefore it is the object of the present invention to provide a versatile workout apparatus and accompanying bodyweight workout regimens. A diamond cutter push-up bar is provided that allows multiple push-up variants to be performed by a user. The diamond cutter push-up bar includes a push-up frame, formed into a diamond shape, that is connected to a support structure, wherein the support structure elevates the push-up frame from a resting surface. The unique shape of the push-up frame provides the ability for a user to utilize different hand grips while exercising. The diamond cutter push-up bar is designed such that the diamond cutter push-up bar is portable and requires no assembly of parts. By utilizing various hand grips positioned along the diamond cutter push-up bar, users can achieve workouts of different intensities, as well as focus on specific muscle groups. Traditional push-ups can still be performed in addition to the higher intensity push-up styles.

  • DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION
  • All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
  • The present invention is a diamond cutter push-up bar that provides a user with multiple methods for performing workout regimens. The accompanying workout methods include a plurality of hand positions that allow multiple styles of push-ups to be performed. Although, the diamond cutter push-up bar is intended for the use of push-up style exercises, the present invention can be used to perform any type of exercise in order to work out any group of muscles. The diamond cutter push-up bar can be manufactured to any size, although the diamond cutter push-up bar is ideally of portable size. Additionally, the diamond cutter push-up bar is designed to support up to 350 pounds of weight in the preferred embodiment, although the diamond cutter push-up bar can be designed to support more or less weight.
  • The diamond cutter push-up bar comprises a push-up frame 10, a support structure 20, and a plurality of hand grips 40. The push-up frame 10 provides the main body portion of the present invention that the user interacts with when performing workouts using the diamond cutter push-up bar. The push-up frame 10 is formed in the shape of a diamond, which allows for the user to utilize various unique hand grips for performing different styles of push-ups. Each of the plurality of hand grips 40 is adjacently connected to the push-up frame 10 and provides a cushioned and enhanced grip when grasping the push-up frame 10. The support structure 20 is adjacently connected to the push-up frame 10 and elevates the push-up frame 10 from the resting surface on which the support structure 20 is mounted.
  • In reference to FIG. 1, the push-up frame 10 comprises a first frame member 11, a second frame member 12, a third frame member 13, a fourth frame member 14, a diagonal support member 15, and a plurality of hand grips 40. The third frame member 13 is terminally connected to the first frame member 11 and the second frame member 12, wherein the third frame member 13 is positioned in between the first frame member 11 and the second frame member 12. Similarly, the fourth frame member 14 is terminally connected to the first frame member 11 and the second frame member 12, wherein the fourth frame member 14 is positioned in between the first frame member 11 and the second frame member 12. The third frame member 13 and the fourth frame member 14 are positioned opposite each other along the first frame member 11 and the second frame member 12, wherein a diamond shaped frame is formed.
  • In reference to FIG. 2, the diagonal support member 15 comprises a first end 151 and a second end 152 being positioned opposite each other along the diagonal support member 15. The diagonal support member 15 is positioned within the diamond shaped frame and extends from corner to corner forming a truss. In this way, the diagonal support member 15 structurally reinforces the push-up frame 10 from tensile and compressive stresses in response to dynamic loads. The first end 151 of the diagonal support member 15 is adjacently connected to the first frame member 11 and the third frame member 13, while the second end 152 is adjacently connected to the second frame member 12 and the fourth frame member 14 opposite the first frame member 11 and the third frame member 13.
  • In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the first frame member 11, the second frame member 12, the third frame member 13, and the fourth frame member 14 are of equal length; however, the first frame member 11, the second frame member 12, the third frame member 13, and the fourth frame member 14 may be of different lengths. Additionally, the first frame member 11, the second frame member 12, the third frame member 13, and the fourth frame member 14 are cylindrical, tubular members; however, it is possible for the first frame member 11, the second frame member 12, the third frame member 13, and the fourth frame member 14 to be solid or any other shape. Ideally, the push-up frame 10 is constructed from polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or aluminum, however, any other suitable materials may be used to construct the push-up frame 10.
  • In reference to FIG. 1, the plurality of hand grips 40 is positioned around the first frame member 11, the second frame member 12, the third frame member 13, the forth frame member, and the diagonal support member 15. Each of the plurality of hand grips 40 provides a comfortable grip and increased friction with the user's hands as compared to directly gripping the push-up frame 10. Any material may be used in the construction of the plurality of hand grips 40 including, but not limited to, foam, rubber or plastic. An adhesive or similar material may be used to secure each of the plurality of hand grips 40 in place along the push-up frame 10, or the plurality of hand grips 40 may be allowed to slide when sufficient force is applied to overcome a frictional force between the push-up frame 10 and each of the plurality of hand grips 40. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the push-up frame 10 is entirely encased in a grip material, wherein individual hand grips are not needed.
  • In reference to FIG. 1-3, in the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the support structure 20 comprises a first leg 21, a second leg 22, a first surface grip 30, a second surface grip 31, a third surface grip 32, and a fourth surface grip 33. The first leg 21 is terminally connected to the first frame member 11 and the third frame member 13, wherein the first leg 21 is positioned adjacent to the first end 151 of the diagonal support member 15. Likewise, the second leg 22 is terminally connected to the second frame member 12 and the fourth frame member 14, wherein the second leg 22 is positioned adjacent to the second end 152 of the diagonal support member 15. In this way, the first leg 21 and the second leg 22 support opposite corners of the push-up frame 10 in order to stabilize the present invention while in use.
  • In reference to FIG. 4-5, the first leg 21 comprises a first flange 25, wherein the first flange 25 is positioned about the first leg 21 opposite the push-up frame 10. The first flange 25 is positioned about the first leg 21 such that the first leg 21 is formed into a T-shape; the first flange 25 providing increased contact with the resting surface and equally stabilizing the first leg 21 on both sides. Similarly, the second leg 22 comprises a second flange 26, wherein the second flange 26 is positioned about the second leg 22 opposite the push-up frame 10. The second flange 26 is positioned about the second leg 22 such that the second leg 22 is formed into a T-shape; the second flange 26 providing increased contact with the resting surface and equally stabilizing the second leg 22 on both sides.
  • In reference to FIG. 2, the first surface grip 30 and the second surface grip 31 are adjacently connected to the first flange 25; the first surface grip 30 and the second surface grip 31 being positioned opposite each other along the first flange 25. The third surface grip 32 and the fourth surface grip 33 are adjacently connected to the second flange 26; the third surface grip 32 and the fourth surface grip 33 being positioned opposite each other along the second flange 26. The first surface grip 30, the second surface grip 31, the third surface grip 32, and the fourth surface grip 33 contact the resting surface on which the diamond cutter push-up bar is mounted and prevent the diamond cutter push-up bar from sliding or otherwise moving while in use. Additionally, the first surface grip 30, the second surface grip 31, the third surface grip 32, and the fourth surface grip 33 may feature a unique gripping pattern to further enhance grip with the resting surface.
  • In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the first surface grip 30 and the second surface grip 31 fit snuggly over each end of the first flange 25, wherein the first surface grip 30 and the second surface grip 31 are frictionally held in place. Similarly, the third surface grip 32 and the fourth surface grip 33 fit snuggly of over each end of the second flange 26, wherein the third surface grip 32 and the fourth surface grip 33 are frictionally held in place. It is also possible for the first surface grip 30, the second surface grip 31, the third surface grip 32, and the fourth surface grip 33 to be connected in any other way, such as using an adhesive or similar material. Any material can be used in the construction of the first surface grip 30, the second surface grip 31, the third surface grip 32, and the fourth surface grip 33 including, but not limited to, rubber or synthetic blends.
  • In reference to FIG. 6, in a first alternative embodiment of the present invention, the support structure 20 comprises a first leg 21, a second leg 22, a third leg 23, a fourth leg 24, a first surface grip 30, a second surface grip 31, a third surface grip 32, and a fourth surface grip 33. The first leg 21 is terminally connected to the first frame member 11 and the third frame member 13, wherein the first leg 21 is positioned adjacent to the first end 151 of the diagonal support member 15. The second leg 22 is terminally connected to the second frame member 12 and the fourth frame member 14, wherein the second leg 22 is positioned adjacent to the second end 152 of the diagonal support member 15. The third leg 23 is terminally connected to the second frame member 12 and the third frame member 13, and the fourth leg 24 is terminally connected to the first frame member 11 and the fourth frame member 14. In this way, the first leg 21, the second leg 22, the third leg 23, and the fourth leg 24 support each corner of the push-up frame 10 in order to stabilize the present invention while in use.
  • In further reference to FIG. 6, the first surface grip 30, the second surface grip 31, the third surface grip 32, and the fourth surface grip 33 contact the resting surface on which the diamond cutter push-up bar is mounted and prevent the diamond cutter push-up bar from sliding or otherwise moving while in use. The first surface grip 30 is adjacently connected to the first leg 21 opposite the push-up frame 10, the second surface grip 31 is adjacently connected to the second leg 22 opposite the push-up frame 10, the third surface grip 32 is adjacently connected to the third leg 23 opposite the push-up frame 10, and the fourth surface grip 33 is adjacently connected to the fourth leg 24 opposite the push-up frame 10. The first surface grip 30, the second surface grip 31, the third surface grip 32, and the fourth surface grip 33 fit snuggly over the first leg 21, the second leg 22, the third leg 23, and the fourth leg 24 respectively, wherein the first surface grip 30, the second surface grip 31, the third surface grip 32, and the fourth surface grip 33 are frictionally held in place.
  • In reference to FIG. 7, in a second alternative embodiment of the present invention, the support structure 20 comprises a first leg 21, a support plate 27, and a first surface grip 30. The first leg 21 is terminally connected to the diagonal support member 15 and the support plate 27 is adjacently connected to the first leg 21 opposite the diagonal support member 15. The support plate 27 provides a flat panel that expands outwards around the first leg 21, providing a large contact surface between the support structure 20 and the resting surface. The first surface grip 30 is adjacently connected to the support plate 27 opposite the first leg 21, wherein the first surface grip 30 contacts the resting surface and prevents the diamond cutter push-up bar from sliding or otherwise moving while in use. The first surface grip 30 is connected to the support plate 27 using an adhesive or similar material.
  • Ideally, the first leg 21, the second leg 22, the third leg 23, the fourth leg 24, and the support leg as described in the above embodiments, are constructed from the same material as the push-up frame 10, such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or aluminum. however, any other materials may be used. While the embodiments above describe the first leg 21, the second leg 22, the third leg 23, and the fourth leg 24 as being permanently affixed to the push-up frame 10, it is also possible for the first leg 21, the second leg 22, the third, and the fourth leg 24 to be designed such that they are removably attached to the push-up frame 10. Such a feature would act to enhance the portability and storage of the present invention when not in use.
  • It is yet another possibility for the first leg 21, the second leg 22, the third leg 23, and the fourth leg 24 to be designed such they are variable in height, each having an inner leg and an outer leg, wherein the inner leg can be telescopically positioned within the outer leg. In this way, the first leg 21, the second leg 22, the third leg 23, and the fourth leg 24 can be adjusted in order to alter the height of the push-up frame 10 from the resting surface. A locking mechanism mechanically coupled to the inner leg and the outer leg allows the inner leg to be locked in place along the outer leg to securely maintain the height of the push-up frame 10
  • The accompanying workout methods provide a plurality of hand grips 40 for performing multiple push-up variants. Each push-up variant features a unique hand grip on the diamond cutter push-up bar. The unique hand grips are designed to provide a range of push-up style exercises of varying intensities that act to workout upper body and core muscles. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention there are six hand grips: the diamond cutter, center splice, star corners, bottom feeders, reverse diamonds, and lasers hand grip. It is possible for any number of other hand grips to be utilized with push-up style exercises using the diamond cutter push-up bar in addition to the hand grips previously mentioned and described below. Exercises utilizing the various hand grips can be performed in any number of sequences and with any number of repetitions to create unique workout regimens.
  • In reference to FIG. 8, a first workout method utilizes the diamond cutter hand grip. Using the diamond cutter hand grip, the diamond cutter push-up bar is positioned such that one corner is directed towards the user, while the opposing corner is directed away from the user. The user then positions their hands along the hand grips attached to the sides of the push-up frame 10 forming the corner directed away from the user. The user then grasps the diamond cutter push-up bar with an overhand grip and assumes the push-up position. The user then proceeds to perform a push-up.
  • In reference to FIG. 9, a second workout method utilizes the center splice hand grip. Using the center splice hand grip, the diamond cutter push-up bar is positioned such that the diagonal support member 15 is perpendicular to the length of the user. The user then positions their hands along the hand grip attached to the diagonal support member 15. The user then grasps the diamond cutter push-up bar with an overhand grip and assumes the push-up position. The user then proceeds to perform a push-up.
  • In reference to FIG. 10, a third workout method utilizes the star corners hand grip. Using the star corners hand grip, the diamond cutter push-up bar is positioned such that one corner is directed towards the user, while the opposing corner is directed away from the user. The user then positions their hands on the corners of the push-up frame 10 that are directed out to each side of the user. The user then grasps the diamond cutter push-up bar and assumes the push-up position. The user then proceeds to perform a push-up.
  • In reference to FIG. 11, a fourth workout method utilizes the bottom feeders hand grip. Using the bottom feeders hand grip, the diamond cutter push-up bar is positioned such that one corner is directed towards the user while the opposing corner is directed away from the user. The user then positions their hands along the hand grips attached to the sides of the push-up frame 10 forming the corner directed towards the user. The user then grasps the diamond cutter push-up bar with an underhand grip and assumes the push-up position. The user then proceeds to perform a push-up.
  • In reference to FIG. 12, a fifth workout method utilizes the reverse diamond hand grip. Using the reverse diamond hand grip, the diamond cutter push-up bar is positioned such that one corner is directed towards the user while the opposing corner is directed away from the user. The user then positions their hands along the hand grips attached to the sides of the push-up frame 10 forming the corner directed towards the user. The user then grasps the diamond cutter push-up bar with an overhand grip and assumes the push-up position. The user then proceeds to perform a push-up.
  • In reference to FIG. 13, a sixth workout method utilizes the lasers hand grip. Using the lasers hand grip, the diamond cutter push-up bar is positioned such that the diagonal support member 15 is parallel to the length of the user. The user then positions their hands, one in front of the other, along the hand grip attached to the diagonal support member 15. The user then grasps the diamond cutter push-up bar and assumes the push-up position. The user then proceeds to perform a push-up.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims (20)

What is claimed is:
1. A diamond cutter push-up bar comprises:
a push-up frame;
a support structure;
the push-up frame comprises a first frame member, a second frame member, a third frame member, a fourth frame member, and a diagonal support member;
the diagonal support member comprises a first end and a second end;
the support structure being adjacently connected to the push-up frame;
the third frame member being terminally connected to first frame member and the second frame member;
the third frame member being positioned in between the first frame member and the second frame member;
the fourth frame member being terminally connected to the first frame member and the second frame member;
the fourth frame member being positioned in between the first frame member and the second frame member;
the third frame member and the fourth frame member being positioned opposite each other along the first frame member and the second frame member;
the first end being adjacently connected to the first frame member and the third frame member; and
the second end being adjacently connected to the second frame member and the fourth frame member opposite the first frame member and the third frame member.
2. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
a plurality of hand grips;
the plurality of hand grips being adjacently connected to the push-up frame; and
the plurality of hand grips being positioned around the first frame member, the second frame member, the third frame member, the fourth frame member, and the diagonal support member.
3. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
the support structure comprises a first leg and a second leg;
the first leg being terminally connected to the first frame member and the third frame member; and
the second leg being terminally connected to the second frame member and the fourth frame member.
4. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 3 comprises:
the support structure further comprises a first surface grip and a second surface grip;
the first surface grip being adjacently connected to the first leg opposite the push-up frame; and
the second surface grip being adjacently connected to the second leg opposite the push-up frame.
5. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 3 comprises:
the first leg comprises a first flange;
the second leg comprises a second flange;
the first flange being positioned about the first leg opposite the push-up frame; and
the second flange being positioned about the second leg opposite the push-up frame.
6. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 5 comprises:
the support structure further comprises a first surface grip, a second surface grip, a third surface grip, and a fourth surface grip;
the first surface grip and the second surface grip being adjacently connected to the first flange;
the first surface grip and the second surface grip being positioned opposite each other along the first flange;
the third surface grip and the fourth surface grip being adjacently connected to the second flange; and
the third surface grip and the fourth surface grip being positioned opposite each other along the second flange.
7. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 3 comprises:
the support structure further comprises a third leg and a fourth leg;
the third leg being terminally connected to the second frame member and the third frame member; and
the fourth leg being terminally connected to the first frame member and the fourth frame member.
8. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 7 comprises:
the support structure further comprises a third surface grip and a fourth surface grip;
the third surface grip being adjacently connected to the third leg opposite the push-up frame; and
the fourth surface grip being adjacently connected to the fourth leg opposite the push-up frame.
9. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 1 comprises:
the support structure comprises a first leg and a support plate;
the first leg being terminally connected to the diagonal support member; and
the support plate being adjacently connected to the first leg opposite the diagonal support member.
10. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 9 comprises:
the support structure comprises a first surface grip; and
the first surface grip being adjacently connected to the support plate opposite the first leg.
11. A diamond cutter push-up bar comprises:
a push-up frame;
a support structure;
the push-up frame comprises a first frame member, a second frame member, a third frame member, a fourth frame member, and a diagonal support member;
the diagonal support member comprises a first end and a second end;
the support structure comprises a first leg and a second leg;
the third frame member being terminally connected to first frame member and the second frame member;
the third frame member being positioned in between the first frame member and the second frame member;
the fourth frame member being terminally connected to the first frame member and the second frame member;
the fourth frame member being positioned in between the first frame member and the second frame member;
the third frame member and the fourth frame member being positioned opposite each other along the first frame member and the second frame member;
the first end being adjacently connected to the first frame member and the third frame member;
the second end being adjacently connected to the second frame member and the fourth frame member opposite the first frame member and the third frame member;
the first leg being terminally connected to the first frame member and the third frame member; and
the second leg being terminally connected to the second frame member and the fourth frame member.
12. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 11 comprises:
a plurality of hand grips;
the plurality of hand grips being adjacently connected to the push-up frame; and
the plurality of hand grips being positioned around the first frame member, the second frame member, the third frame member, the fourth frame member, and the diagonal support member.
13. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 11 comprises:
the support structure further comprises a first surface grip and a second surface grip;
the first surface grip being adjacently connected to the first leg opposite the push-up frame; and
the second surface grip being adjacently connected to the second leg opposite the push-up frame.
14. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 11 comprises:
the first leg comprises a first flange;
the second leg comprises a second flange;
the first flange being positioned about the first leg opposite the push-up frame; and
the second flange being positioned about the second leg opposite the push-up frame.
15. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 14 comprises:
the support structure further comprises a first surface grip, a second surface grip, a third surface grip, and a fourth surface grip;
the first surface grip and the second surface grip being adjacently connected to the first flange;
the first surface grip and the second surface grip being positioned opposite each other along the first flange;
the third surface grip and the fourth surface grip being adjacently connected to the second flange; and
the third surface grip and the fourth surface grip being positioned opposite each other along the second flange.
16. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 11 comprises:
the support structure further comprises a third leg and a fourth leg;
the third leg being terminally connected to the second frame member and the third frame member; and
the fourth leg being terminally connected to the first frame member and the fourth frame member.
17. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 16 comprises:
the support structure further comprises a third surface grip and a fourth surface grip;
the third surface grip being adjacently connected to the third leg opposite the push-up frame; and
the fourth surface grip being adjacently connected to the fourth leg opposite the push-up frame.
18. A diamond cutter push-up bar comprises:
a push-up frame;
a support structure;
the push-up frame comprises a first frame member, a second frame member, a third frame member, a fourth frame member, and a diagonal support member;
the diagonal support member comprises a first end and a second end;
the support structure comprises a first leg and a support plate;
the third frame member being terminally connected to first frame member and the second frame member;
the third frame member being positioned in between the first frame member and the second frame member;
the fourth frame member being terminally connected to the first frame member and the second frame member;
the fourth frame member being positioned in between the first frame member and the second frame member;
the third frame member and the fourth frame member being positioned opposite each other along the first frame member and the second frame member;
the first end being adjacently connected to the first frame member and the third frame member;
the second end being adjacently connected to the second frame member and the fourth frame member opposite the first frame member and the third frame member;
the first leg being terminally connected to the diagonal support member; and
the support plate being adjacently connected to the first leg opposite the diagonal support member.
19. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 18 comprises:
a plurality of hand grips;
the plurality of hand grips being adjacently connected to the push-up frame; and
the plurality of hand grips being positioned around the first frame member, the second frame member, the third frame member, the fourth frame member, and the diagonal support member.
20. The diamond cutter push-up bar as claimed in claim 18 comprises:
the support structure comprises a first surface grip; and
the first surface grip being adjacently connected to the support plate opposite the first leg.
