Abstract
The present invention provides a mounting system for users to mount attachments and accessories directly onto the upper receiver. The mounting system will feature a series of screw locking slots and a dovetail groove to slide and secure attachments and accessories onto the upper receiver.
Description
- Various attachments and accessories are mounted onto a firearm by engagement of the accessory's mounting system and the features of the rail. Some examples of such features, taken in a non-limiting fashion, include laser sights, night vision scoped, flashlights, tactical sights, deflectors and bolt assist assembly and even sling mounts. Standard firearms have a weaver rail, with some variations having a picatinny rail mounting system. It is therefore desirable to provide an upper receiver wherein different configurations of the upper receiver mounting system can be provided.
- The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for mounting accessories and attachments onto the upper receiver of a firearm. Furthermore, the apparatus will feature a groove as well as locking slots situated at various intervals above, within, or below the groove.
- The present invention, upper receiver mounting system, may best be understood by reference to the following detailed description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings in which reference numbers designate the parts throughout the figures and wherein;
-
FIG. 1 is an isometric view of Configuration A of the present invention. -
FIG. 2 is an isometric view of Configuration B of the present invention. -
FIG. 3 is an isometric view of Configuration C of the present invention. -
FIG. 4 is an isometric view of Configuration A of the present invention. - The following descriptions are set forth and have been assigned numerical designations to enable the reader to understand the reasoning behind and the application of the present invention.
-
FIG. 1 illustrates the present invention, Upper Receiver Mounting System (1), in Configuration A featuring the screw slots (3A) and the groove (2). -
FIG. 2 , while similar toFIG. 1 , illustrates the present invention (1), in Configuration B, featuring the screw slots (3B) and the groove (2). -
FIG. 3 , also similar toFIGS. 1 & 2 , illustrates the present invention (1), in Configuration C, featuring the screw slots (3C) and the groove (2). -
FIG. 4 is shown to illustrate the opposite side of the present invention (1), in Configuration A, featuring the screw slot (3A) and the groove (2). - It should be further noted that although only one side of the upper receiver is shown in some configurations, the groove and slots mentioned throughout this document are present on both sides of the upper receiver as shown in
FIG. 4 . - The present invention, upper receiver mounting system, provides a method and apparatus for a user to secure and lock attachments and accessories, such as but not limited to those mentioned in the background above. The mounting system will feature a unique slide, secure, screw and lock system for mounted attachments and accessories.
