  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Before the present disclosure is described in greater detail, it should foe noted that like elements are denoted by the same reference numerals throughout the disclosure.
  • Referring to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the first embodiment of a method of making a cosmetic palette assembly according to the present disclosure is shown to include a forming step 11, a disposing step 12, a filling step 13, a removing step 14 and a packaging step 15.
  • The forming step 11 includes forming a pigmented cake unit 31 that includes a plurality of first pigmented cakes 311, and a plurality of second pigmented cakes 312 which are in a color different from that of the first pigmented cakes 311. The forming step 11 is conducted using a mold 2. To be more specific, the forming step 11 is conducted by melting first and second cosmetic materials 310, 310′ respectively for the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312, and filling the first and second cosmetic materials 310, 310′ in corresponding cavities 21, 21′ of the mold 2, followed by solidification so as to form the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 in the cavities 21, 21′. To be more specific, a period of cooling time, such as ten minutes, is needed to allow the first arid second cosmetic materials 310, 310′ to solidify. Since the color of the first cosmetic material 310 and the color of the second cosmetic material 310′ are different, the colors of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 are also different.
  • In this embodiment, the cavities 21, 21′ are star-shaped, but in practice, the cavities 21, 21′ are not limited thereto, and may be configured as other geometric shapes, such as heart-shape, cloud-shape, etc. Moreover, the pigmented cake unit 31 is not limited to have two different colors, and may be made to have more than two colors.
  • In addition, if the first arid second cosmetic materials 310, 310′ are malleable, the step of melting the first and second cosmetic materials 310, 310′ in the forming step 11 can be omitted and the first and second pigmented cades 311, 312 can be formed by other ways, such as kneading or extrusion.
  • It should he noted that the number of each of the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 are not limited to that of this embodiment. For example, the pigmented cake unit 31 may only include one first pigmented cake 311 and one second pigmented cake 312.
  • The disposing step 12 includes disposing the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 into a holder 4. In this embodiment, the holder 4 confines an accommodating space 413. To be more specific, in this embodiment, the holder 4 includes a round bottom wall 411 and a surrounding wall 412 extending upward from a periphery of the bottom wall 411 and cooperating with the bottom wall 411 to confine the accommodating space 413 for accommodating the pigmented cake unit 31.
  • In this embodiment, the holder 4 is made of aluminum, which is lightweight and has good thermal conductivity. However, it should be understood that the holder 4 can also be made of other materials, such as opaque or transparent plastics.
  • In this embodiment, the disposing step 12 is conducted using a tweezers 71 to clamp and place the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 into the holder 4. The first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 are spacedly attached to the bottom wall 411 of the holder 4. In this embodiment, since the thickness of the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 are equal, top surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and top surfaces of the second pigmented cakes 312 are flush with each other. Moreover, in this embodiment, tap surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and top surfaces of the second pigmented cakes 312 are higher than a top edge of the surrounding wall 412.
  • The filling step 13 includes filling a filler into the holder 4 to form a soft base 30 such that the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 are fixed in and surrounded by the soft base 30. To be more specific, in the filling step 13, the filler is first heated into a fluid state, then filled into the accommodating space 413 of the bolder 4, and finally solidified to form the soft base 30. A cosmetic product 3 that is disposed in the accommodating space 413 and that includes the pigmented cake unit 31 and the soft base 30 is then formed.
  • The filler can be made of a gel material. The gel material may be, for example but not limited to, a humectant, such as beeswax or Vaseline. In addition, a freshener, such as peppermint may be further added into the filler to provide an extra function.
  • Moreover, the soft base 30 is also capable of fixing the pigmented cake unit 31 therein to prevent shifting or movement of the pigmented cake unit 31 relative to the holder 4.
  • Since bottom surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 are fixedly attached to the bottom wall 411 in the disposing step 12, the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 would not more during the filling step 13.
  • When filling the filler into the holder 4, the filler can be poured into the holder 4 until the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 313 are completely covered by the filler. Therefore, after solidification, the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 are completely covered by the soft base 30. The surface tension of the filler may prevent overflowing of the filler out of the holder 4, and makes a top surface of the soft base 30 smoothly cambered.
  • In this embodiment, the soft base 30 is opaque. Since the soft base 30 is opaque and completely covers the top surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 arid the second pigmented cakes 312, the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 are blocked from sight. Therefore, the removing step 14 is conducted to remove a part of the soft base 30 such that the top surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 are exposed. In this embodiment, the removing step 14 is conducted by horizontally scraping the soft base 30 with a knife 72 until the top surfaces of the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 are exposed.
  • The packaging step 15 includes packaging the holder 4 along with the pigmented cake unit 31 and the soft base 30 into a shell unit 5. The shell unit 5 has a transparent body 51 that accommodates the holder 4, and a transparent cover 52 that is pivotally mounted on the body 51. As such, the colors of the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 are visible through the cover 52. Besides, the shell unit 5 also serves as protection for the cosmetic product 3.
  • The first embodiment of the cosmetic palette assembly according to the present disclosure includes the holder 4 and the cosmetic product 3. Since there is no rigid partitioning walls between the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312, the user can freely swipe back and forth with a brush across a surface of the cosmetic product 3 to acquire the desired amount of the cake powder from each of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 and even some of the soft base 30 and mix them without causing harm to the brush.
  • Referring to FIGS. 1, 4 and 5, the second embodiment of the method of making a cosmetic palette assembly according to the present disclosure is similar to that of the first embodiment, except for slight differences in the disposing step 12 and the filling step 13, and the omission of the removing step 14 and the packaging step 15.
  • In the disposing step 12 of the second embodiment, the holder 4 is made of a transparent material such as a transparent plastic material. To be more specific, the holder 4 includes a holder body 41 that confines the accommodating space 413 and has a bottom wall 411 and a surrounding wall 412 extending upward from a periphery of the bottom wall 411, and a cover 42 that removably covers the holder body 41. In this embodiment, the cover 42 threadedly engages the holder body 41. The bottom surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 are partly attached to the bottom wall 411. The top surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 are lower than a top edge of the surrounding wall 412.
  • In the filling step 13 of the second embodiment, the filler includes a transparent gel 32 and a glitter material 6 distributed in the transparent gel 32. To be more specific, the filling step 13 includes evenly mixing the transparent gel 32 with the glitter material 6 to obtain the filler, disposing the filler into the holder 4 so as to cover the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312, and solidifying the filler to form the soft base 30. In this embodiment, the transparent gel 32 is made of a balm material.
  • Since the bottom surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 are only partly attached to the bottom wall 411 during the disposing step 12, when the filling step 13 is finished, the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 are detached from the bottom wall 411 and float in the filler due to buoyancy of the filler. As such, the bottom surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312 are higher than a top surface of the bottom wall 411 after the filling step 13.
  • Since the filler is mainly composed of the transparent gel 32 and the pigmented cake unit 31 can be seen through the soft base 30, the removing step 14 can be omitted in the second embodiment. Therefore, the thickness of the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 in the second embodiment can be smaller than that in the first embodiment. Moreover, since the holder 4 in the second embodiment serves the same function as the shell, unit 5 of the first embodiment to protect the cosmetic product 3, the packaging step 15 is not needed and can be omitted.
  • Alternatively, the filling step 13 of the second embodiment can be conducted by first pouring a small amount of the filler into the holder body 41 to allow the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312 to float upward, and after the filler in the holder body 41 is slightly solidified, the rest of the filler is then poured in to completely cover the top surfaces of the first pigmented cakes 311 and the second pigmented cakes 312.
  • Referring to FIG. 6, in a variation of the second embodiment, the cover 42 is pivotally mounted on the holder body 41.
  • Similar to the first embodiment, in this embodiment, since there is no rigid partitioning walls between the first and second pigmented cakes 311, 312, harm to the brush could be prevented.
  • Furthermore, in the second embodiment, since the holder 4 and the soft base 30 are transparent, the floated pigmented cake unit 31 could be seen from the outside, thereby improving an aesthetic appearance. Besides, the glitter material 6 which is evenly distributed in he transparent gel 32 can provide the user with a shimmering look when the cosmetic product 3 is applied.
  • While the present disclosure has been described in connection with what are considered the most practical embodiments, it is understood that this disclosure is not limited to the disclosed embodiments but is intended to cover various arrangements included within the spirit and scope of the broadest interpretation and equivalent arrangements.
