Abstract

A bed covering elevating system elevates bed sheets, blankets or the like over a person's feet to prevent pressure on the person's toes. The system includes a mattress. A frame is removably mounted to the mattress. The frame includes a middle section and a pair of arms coupled to and extending downwardly from opposite ends of the middle section. The middle section extends horizontally over and is spaced from a top side of the mattress. A pair of mattress engagement members is provided. Each of the mattress engagement members is attached to a distal end of an associated one of the arms with respect to the middle section. The mattress engagement members are orientated toward each other. A bottom side of the mattress abuts a top surface of each of the mattress engagement members to support the frame above the mattress.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE Field of the Disclosure
  • The disclosure relates to elevating systems and more particularly pertains to a new elevating system for elevating bed sheets, blankets or the like over a person's feet to prevent pressure on the person's toes.
  • SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE
  • An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a mattress.
  • There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a top front side perspective view of a bed covering elevating system according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing one of the arms being telescopically adjustable.
  • FIG. 4 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing the middle section being telescopically adjustable.
  • FIG. 5 is a top front side perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing the frame removably mounted to the mattress.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new elevating system embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the bed covering elevating system 10 generally comprises a mattress 12 having a top side 14, a bottom side 16, a front end 18 and a rear end 20. A bed covering 22, such as a bed sheet blanket or the like, extends over the top side 14 of the mattress 12. A frame 24 is removably mounted to the mattress 12. The frame 24 includes a middle section 26 and a pair of arms 28 coupled to and extending downwardly from opposite ends 30 of the middle section 26. The middle section 26 extends horizontally over the top side 14 of the mattress 12 proximate the rear end 20 of the mattress 12. The middle section 12 is spaced from the top side 14 of the mattress 12. The bed covering 22 extends over the middle section 26 of the frame 24.
  • The middle section 26 is telescopic. This allows the middle section 26 to have an adjustable length between 120.0 cm and 200.0 cm as measured between opposite ends 30 of the middle section 26. Similarly, each of the arms 28 is telescopic. This allows the arms 28 to have a height between approximately 25.0 cm and 45.0 cm. In this manner, the system 10 is able to fit various sizes of mattresses 12. In particular, the frame 24 is formed from a pair of bars 32, a first hollow sleeve 34 and a second hollow sleeve 36. The first hollow sleeve 34 comprises a first section 38 and a second section 40. The second hollow sleeve 36 is coupled to the first section 38 and the second section 40 using conventional locking members 42, such as locking pins or the like. An upper end 44 of one of the bars 32 is positioned within a first end 46 of the first section 38. An upper end 48 of another one of the bars 32 is positioned within a first end 50 of the second section 40. Each of the bars 32 is coupled to the first hollow sleeve 34 using conventional locking members 42, such as locking pins or the like. A second end 52 of the first section 38 is positioned within a first side 54 of the second hollow sleeve 36. A second end 56 of the second section 40 is positioned within a second side 58 of the second hollow sleeve 36. The first hollow sleeve 34 may be formed from a cushioned material.
  • A pair of mattress engagement members 60 is provided. Each of the mattress engagement members 60 is attached to a distal end 62 of an associated one of the arms 28 with respect to the middle section 26. Each of the mattress engagement members 60 is positioned below the middle section 26 and may be positioned transversely with respect to the middle section 26. The mattress engagement members 60 are orientated toward each other. Each of the mattress engagement members 60 comprises a plate 63 having a planar upper surface 64 and a planar lower surface 66. The bottom side 16 of the mattress 12 abuts the upper surface 64 of each of the mattress engagement members 60 to support the frame 24 above the mattress 12. A box-spring 68 may be positioned beneath the matrress 12 such that the engagement members 60 are positioned between the box spring 68 and the mattrress 12.
  • In use, as stated above and shown in the Figures, a fitted sheet is secured around the top side 14 of the mattress 12 in a conventional manner. The frame 24 is then mounted to the mattress 12 such that the middle section 26 is spaced from the top side 14 of the mattress 12 and extends horizontally over the top side 14 of the mattress 12 proximate the rear end 20 of the mattress 12. Each of the mattress engagement members 60 is positioned between the mattress 12 and the box spring 68. The height and width of the frame 24 is adjusted as desired. The bed covering 22 is then positioned such that a lower section of the bed covering 22 extends over the middle section 26 of the frame 24. A bottom edge of the bed covering 22 is tucked under the mattress 12 in a conventional manner. In this manner, the system 10 elevates the bed covering 22 above a user's toes to prevent a bed sheet, blanket or the like from placing pressure on the user's toes.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
