Abstract
A bed covering elevating system elevates bed sheets, blankets or the like over a person's feet to prevent pressure on the person's toes. The system includes a mattress. A frame is removably mounted to the mattress. The frame includes a middle section and a pair of arms coupled to and extending downwardly from opposite ends of the middle section. The middle section extends horizontally over and is spaced from a top side of the mattress. A pair of mattress engagement members is provided. Each of the mattress engagement members is attached to a distal end of an associated one of the arms with respect to the middle section. The mattress engagement members are orientated toward each other. A bottom side of the mattress abuts a top surface of each of the mattress engagement members to support the frame above the mattress.
Description
- The disclosure relates to elevating systems and more particularly pertains to a new elevating system for elevating bed sheets, blankets or the like over a person's feet to prevent pressure on the person's toes.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a mattress.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a top front side perspective view of a bed covering elevating system according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing one of the arms being telescopically adjustable. -
FIG. 4 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing the middle section being telescopically adjustable. -
FIG. 5 is a top front side perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing the frame removably mounted to the mattress. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new elevating system embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the bed coveringelevating system 10 generally comprises amattress 12 having atop side 14, abottom side 16, afront end 18 and arear end 20. A bed covering 22, such as a bed sheet blanket or the like, extends over thetop side 14 of themattress 12. Aframe 24 is removably mounted to themattress 12. Theframe 24 includes amiddle section 26 and a pair ofarms 28 coupled to and extending downwardly fromopposite ends 30 of themiddle section 26. Themiddle section 26 extends horizontally over thetop side 14 of themattress 12 proximate therear end 20 of themattress 12. Themiddle section 12 is spaced from thetop side 14 of themattress 12. The bed covering 22 extends over themiddle section 26 of theframe 24. - The
middle section 26 is telescopic. This allows themiddle section 26 to have an adjustable length between 120.0 cm and 200.0 cm as measured betweenopposite ends 30 of themiddle section 26. Similarly, each of thearms 28 is telescopic. This allows thearms 28 to have a height between approximately 25.0 cm and 45.0 cm. In this manner, thesystem 10 is able to fit various sizes ofmattresses 12. In particular, theframe 24 is formed from a pair ofbars 32, a firsthollow sleeve 34 and a secondhollow sleeve 36. The firsthollow sleeve 34 comprises afirst section 38 and asecond section 40. The secondhollow sleeve 36 is coupled to thefirst section 38 and thesecond section 40 usingconventional locking members 42, such as locking pins or the like. Anupper end 44 of one of thebars 32 is positioned within a first end 46 of thefirst section 38. Anupper end 48 of another one of thebars 32 is positioned within afirst end 50 of thesecond section 40. Each of thebars 32 is coupled to the firsthollow sleeve 34 usingconventional locking members 42, such as locking pins or the like. Asecond end 52 of thefirst section 38 is positioned within afirst side 54 of the secondhollow sleeve 36. Asecond end 56 of thesecond section 40 is positioned within asecond side 58 of the secondhollow sleeve 36. The firsthollow sleeve 34 may be formed from a cushioned material. - A pair of
mattress engagement members 60 is provided. Each of themattress engagement members 60 is attached to adistal end 62 of an associated one of thearms 28 with respect to themiddle section 26. Each of themattress engagement members 60 is positioned below themiddle section 26 and may be positioned transversely with respect to themiddle section 26. Themattress engagement members 60 are orientated toward each other. Each of themattress engagement members 60 comprises aplate 63 having a planarupper surface 64 and a planarlower surface 66. Thebottom side 16 of themattress 12 abuts theupper surface 64 of each of themattress engagement members 60 to support theframe 24 above themattress 12. A box-spring 68 may be positioned beneath thematrress 12 such that theengagement members 60 are positioned between thebox spring 68 and themattrress 12. - In use, as stated above and shown in the Figures, a fitted sheet is secured around the
top side 14 of themattress 12 in a conventional manner. Theframe 24 is then mounted to themattress 12 such that themiddle section 26 is spaced from thetop side 14 of themattress 12 and extends horizontally over thetop side 14 of themattress 12 proximate therear end 20 of themattress 12. Each of themattress engagement members 60 is positioned between themattress 12 and thebox spring 68. The height and width of theframe 24 is adjusted as desired. The bed covering 22 is then positioned such that a lower section of the bed covering 22 extends over themiddle section 26 of theframe 24. A bottom edge of the bed covering 22 is tucked under themattress 12 in a conventional manner. In this manner, thesystem 10 elevates the bed covering 22 above a user's toes to prevent a bed sheet, blanket or the like from placing pressure on the user's toes. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
