Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a chair for a child that allows an adult user to easily wash the child's hair without placing them in a tub.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Children's bath time may be both a pleasurable and stressful experience. Many babies and children love to splash the water and to play with toys while in frolicking in the tub. The parent or guardian is always nearby to ensure that the child is safe, and to assist the child in actually washing themselves. Some parents even have difficulty getting the child out of the tub because they are having so much fun playing. This is typically frustrating and stressful especially when the parent is on a time constraint.
  • A dreaded portion of the bath is washing the hair. Most kids fight having their hair washed because of the feel of the water on their face and back. Also, many times the soapy water runs into the child's eyes and mouth causing irritation and discomfort. For these reasons hair washing is a struggle that is dreaded during the bath. During time constraints, some parents try to let their children stand or sit next to a sink or tub to wash their hair while their bodies remain dry. This is uncomfortable for children to support themselves in a reclined position for any period of time. Since they cannot maintain themselves at an angle for long, the child often gets wet when sitting up again getting the soapy water in their eyes and on their dry bodies.
  • Therefore it would be beneficial in the art to provide way for a child to have their hair washed without having to put the child in the tub. It would also be desirable in the art to provide a method for the child to remain outside the tub while getting their hair washed in a comfortable position to ensure that they remain in the ideal place the whole time they are being washed.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the prior art, the general purpose of the present invention is to provide a children's hair washing chair, configured to include all of the advantages of the prior art, and to overcome the drawbacks inherent therein.
  • Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a hair washing chair to safety, conveniently and effectively shampoo a child's hair without having to place them in a tub.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a reclining hair washing chair that is suspended from the edge of a tub or sink to support the child while having their hair washed.
  • To achieve the above objects, in an aspect of the present invention, a children's hair washing chair is described comprising a chair, where the chair includes a seat and a backrest; a base coupled beneath the seat; a pair of armrests extending from the base, on each side of the seat; a pair of hooks attached to a back portion of the armrests, where the pair of hooks attach to a portion of a water basin; wherein the backrests positions between an upright and a reclined position between the pair of hooks. The children's hair washing chair suspends a child next to a water basin to ensure that only their hair gets wet during the wash.
  • These together with other aspects of the present invention, along with the various features of novelty that characterize the present invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed hereto and form a part of this present invention. For a better understanding of the present invention, its operating advantages, and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be made to the accompanying drawings and descriptive matter in which there are illustrated exemplary embodiments of the present invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The advantages and features of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following detailed description and claims taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing in which:
  • FIG. 1 depicts a perspective view of a children's hair washing chair in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present invention relates to a chair for a child that allows an adult user to easily wash the child's hair without placing them in a tub. The present invention provides a children's hair washing chair to simplify the task of washing children's hair. The children's hair washing chair includes a reclining chair with rear attached hooks. The hooks fasten the hair washing chair to the edge of a tub or sink thereby positioning the child in an ideal location to have their hair washed while keeping their bodies dry. A seatbelt is included on the reclining chair to ensure that the child does not fall or slide during use. With the children's hair washing chair the user is afforded a mobile seat that allows them to wash the child's hair in a comfortable, convenient and effective way.
  • Turning now descriptively to the drawing, referring to FIG. 1, a children's hair washing chair 100 is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The children's hair washing chair 100 includes a chair 102 with a seat 104 and a backrest 106. The seat 104 and backrest 106 may be padded with foam and covered with a waterproof material like vinyl, plastic or the like. The seat 104 includes a seatbelt 110. The seatbelt 110 secures a child user against the seat 104 to ensure that they do not fall or slide off the seat 104 during use. The backrest 106 includes a neck rest 108, which is a curved indention within a central portion of the top of the backrest 106. The neck rest 108 is padded and smoothly shaped for a soft and comfortable feel against the child user's neck.
  • The seat 104 may be coupled with a base 110. The base 110 may be a plastic or wood support that keeps the seat 104 in place. Extending from the base 110 may be a pair of armrests 114 on each side of the seat 104. As illustrated, the armrests 114 may extend up from a rear portion of the base 110, protrude forward from the backrest 106 and then connect to the base 110 again at a front portion. The armrests 114 may be padded for a soft feel against the user's arms and elbows. The armrests 114 may be curved along a top portion for optimal comfort for the user.
  • Attached to a back portion of the armrests 114 is a pair of hooks 116. The pair of hooks 116 may hang to a side of a bathtub or sink to suspend the children's hair washing chair 100 to these structures. Alternatively, a chain may be attached to the tub or sink and the pair of arms 116 attach to the chain for suspension. The hooks 116 are made from a strong, durable and waterproof material to ensure that the base 110 remains horizontal as to not drop the child during use. The hooks 116 may be padded or covered with a soft material to prevent scratches or dents on the tub or sink while supporting the children's hair washing seat 100.
  • The backrest 106 may be positioned between an upright position 106 a and a reclined position 106 b. During use the backrest 106 b is reclined to position the child user's neck directly against the edge of the tub or sink and their head within the basin. This keeps their bodies away from the water while still allowing their hair to be washed. When the backrest 106 b is reclined the seat 104 may slide forward along the base 110, and when the backrest 106 a is upright the seat 104 may slide back, as indicated by the arrows below the base. With the children's hair washing seat 100 the user is a provided a useful seat to position and contain their child while simply washing their hair. The child does not have to get their entire body wet, and keeps the water off their face and out of their eyes while resting comfortably in the reclined chair.
  • The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.
