Description

Patented Sept. 10, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The invention relates to improvements in coolers adapted for liquid beverages.
The main object of the invention is to provide a novel cooler to insure the effective cooling of 5 beverages for a considerable period.
Another object of the invention is to provide a cooler in which a uniform pressure can be maintained, by means of which any amount of the beverage can be drawn from within.
A further object of the invention is to provide a cooler of economical size, which can be easily transported from place to place.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a cooler, which will be compact, simple, easily assembled and efficient in carrying out the purpose for which it is designed.
With the foregoing and other objects in View, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, arrangement and combination of parts, hereinafter more fully described, i1lus trated in the accompanying drawing and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
It is to be understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of the structure may be made without departing from the spirit, or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
For the purpose of facilitating an understanding of my invention, I have illustrated in the accompanying drawing a preferred embodiment thereof, from an inspection of which, when considered in connection with the following description, my invention, its mode of operation, assembly and many of its advantages should be readily understood and appreciated.
Referring to the drawing, in which similar characters of reference are employed to indicate corresponding or similar parts throughout the several figures in the drawing:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary enlarged vertical section of the cooler on line I-I of Figure 2.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary elevational view of the cooler.
Figure 3 is a top view of the cooler.
The cooler I, is comprised of a cylindrical shell 2, a bottom part 3, and a top part 4. The bottom part 3, and the top part 4, are secured to the cylindrical shell 2, by means of the double seams 5, and 6, respectively.
The container is supported by the ring 8, secured to the bottom part 3, and by the neck portion 9, of the top part 4.
The space IU, between the cooler I, and the container 'I, is lled with the cork II.
The gasket I2, ts within the interior I3, of the container 1, and is supported on the top portion I4, o-f the container 'I, by means of its horizontal flange I5.
The cap I6, retains gasket I2, in its place by 5 means of its lower projections I'I, and I8, respectively. The cap I6, has a recess I9, at its top and a hub 23, Within its interior, with a recess 2 I, and a hole 22, at its center.
The valve 23, is comprised of a ball 24, a stem 10 25, with a portion of reduced diameter 59, and a threaded projection 26, secured within the knob 2l. The knob 2l, has a recess 29, which houses the spring 30.
The knob 27, slidingly ts in the recess I9, at 15 the top of the cap I6, by means of its projection 28.
The knob 2l, has a recess 29, which houses the spring 30.
The recess 2l, has a threaded portion 32, to 20 receive the threaded portion I, of the delivery pipe 33, secured by the nut 34.
The cap it, has a covered passageway 33, which has a threaded portion 36, to receive the threaded portion 62, of the flow pipe 38, secured by the nut 25 39.
The air-intake 40, is a hollow tube closed at its far end 4 I. It has a threaded portion 42, by means of which it is secured within the cap I6, and retained by the nut 43. The orice 44, permits 30 the flow of air within the interior or" the container 1, when the end 62, is connected to the air sup- Ply.
The safety valve 45, permits the escape of air of excessive pressure, thereby, insuring a uniform 35 pressure within the container.
The bail 46, is retained in the brackets 4l, secured to the top part 4, of the cooler I. The bail 4B, supports a grip 48, at its top portion.
The clamp 49, is pivotally mounted to the top 40 4, by means of the bracket 50, secured to the top part 4. The clamp 49, retains airtight the removable cap I6, on the cooler Ii, by the slot 5I, formed at the middle portion of its free end, sliding over a pivotally mounted screw 52, housed in 45 the bracket 53, secured to the top 4, and is retained in its place by the wing nut 34.
The clamp 49, has a hole 55, at the center of its top, to permit the free travel of the knob 2, when the beverage is drawn from the container 'I. 50
The bracket 56, retains the flow pipe 3l, in its place and is secured to top part 4.
To fill the container l, with the beverage, the clamp 49, is raised in the position 5l, by loosening the wing nut 54, on the screw 52. The cap I6, 55
is then removed and the container 1, is lled. When the lling is done, the cap I6, is replaced and the clamp 49, is brought down to its former position.
To draw the beverage from the container 1, the free end 60, of the air-intake 40, is connected with the air supply. When the uniform pressure is established Within the container by pressing the knob 27, downward, the ball 24, leaves its seat 3l. The beverage rises Within pipe 33, lls the passage 58, around the stem 59, ilows through the passage-v Way 35,A and flow pipe 38, to an outside container.
I claim:
A cooler comprising a shell and a containerA separated by insulating material, a removable cap having an inserted hollow tube with a closed end and an orice to convey compressed air into said container, a dispensing valve located in the cap and having a stem of various diameters, the larger one of which ts snugly into a hub of the cap, said stem having a spring supported knob at the top of the cap, a pipe supported by said cap and projecting close to the bottom of said container, a discharge spout secured to the cap and communicating With the pipe through a channel in the cap,V said valve being located in the channel between the spout and the pipe.
