Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present disclosure relates to a cross flow fan; in particular, to a modular cross flow fan.
  • 2. Description of Related Art
  • Conventional cross flow fans can be installed at appropriate positions in buildings for driving flow of air, such that hot air current produced by heating devices or cool air current produced by cooling devices can be output for heating or cooling the ambience. The lengths of the blades in conventional cross flow fans are limited by insufficient strength of the same. Therefore, long cross flow fans are rare in the market. If a long cross flow fan is needed, typically two or three cross flow fans are connected in series. FIG. 1 discloses two cross flow fans 100 locked together at their respective ends proximal to each other by a plurality of screws 200, connecting in series to attain a greater length. Additionally, FIG. 2 discloses two cross flow fans 100 disposed on a base plate 300, connected in series via the base plate 300 to attain a greater length. However, the serial connections of the abovementioned cross flow fans are costly in terms of assembly time and labor, and have poor strength and rigidity.
  • Hence, the present inventor believes the above mentioned disadvantages can be overcome, and through devoted research combined with application of theory, finally proposes the present disclosure which has a reasonable design and effectively improves upon the above mentioned disadvantages.

The housing 1 is strip-shaped and is an extruded aluminum piece. The length of the housing 1 is variable, not limited, and adaptable to the quantity of accommodated cross flow fans 2. For example, if two, three, four or five cross flow fans 2 are to be accommodated, then the housing 1 is formed with different lengths accordingly.
  • The housing 1 has a first wall 11 and a second wall 12. The first wall 11 and the second wall 12 are connected and are preferably perpendicular to each other such that a cross section of the housing 1 is substantially L-shaped, namely bent. However, the included angle between the first wall 11 and the second wall 12 can be altered to be 80 degrees, 90 degrees, 100 degrees, etc. A guiding portion 13 can be formed between the first wall 11 and the second wall 12. The guiding portion 13 can be curved or planar, for guiding air flow. The housing 1 is formed with an air inlet 14 and an air outlet 15, possibly on two adjacent sides of the housing 1. A separation portion 16 may be disposed between the air inlet 14 and the air outlet 15.
  • A first base 17 and a second base 18 can be attached respectively to the two ends of the casing 1 by screws. The two bases 17, 18 can be installed at appropriate positions on buildings. However, the particular position of fixture of the two bases 17, 18 to the housing 1 and the building is not limited thereto.
  • A partition board 19 can be disposed on the housing 1, possibly by screws, rivets, etc. Namely, the partition board 19 can be disposed on the housing 1 and the separation portion 16, the fixture method of which is not limited. The quantity of partition boards 19 can be altered according to the quantity of cross flow fans 2. The partition boards 19 can partition the interior of the housing 1 into a plurality of accommodating spaces A to accommodate and support the respective cross flow fans 2.
  • The cross flow fan 2 can be made of plastic and aluminum, but is not limited thereto. The cross flow fan 2 has a plurality of curved blades 21, disposed at intervals forming a cylindrical shape. The cross flow fans 2 can amount to two, three, four, five, etc. In the present embodiment, three cross flow fans 2 are disposed in the housing 1. Namely, the cross flow fans 2 are disposed respectively in the accommodating spaces A. The cross flow fans 2 are connected therebetween. Namely, two adjacent cross flow flans 2 are connected by an axis 22 (as shown in FIG. 7). The axis 22 can work in conjunction with a bearing unit (not shown in the figures) and an elastic sleeve 23 to be rotatably accommodated in the partition board 19. Namely, the axis 22 and the bearing unit (not shown in the figures) can be rotatably accommodated in the elastic sleeve 23, which in turn is fixed to the partition board 19, such that the cross flow fans 2 can freely rotate in the housing 1. Connection between cross flow fans 2 and rotatable accommodation in the housing 1 are conventional methods, and the present disclosure is not limited thereto.

The motor 3 is electrically connected to the appropriate control circuit (not shown in the figures).
  • Second Embodiment
  • Referring to FIG. 8, the modular cross-flow-fan device of the present embodiment includes a housing 1, two cross flow fans 2 and a motor 3. A cover 4 shields the air inlet 14 of the housing 1. The cover 4 is disposed on the housing 1 by assembly. The cover 4 has a plurality of through holes 41. The structure of the cover 4 is not limited, and can be a grille, a mesh, etc. The cover 4 shielding the air inlet 14 prevents foreign objects from entering, thereby increasing safety during operation.
  • Third Embodiment
  • Referring to FIG. 9, only one motor 3 is employed in the present embodiment. The motor 3 is disposed inside the housing 1 and is fixed to the housing 1 by screws. The motor 3 is connected to the axes 22 of two of the cross flow fans 2 such that the cross flow fans 2 can be rotatably driven by the motor 3.
  • Fourth Embodiment
  • The present disclosure can employ multiple motors. Referring to FIG. 10, the present embodiment employs two motors 3. When the quantity of cross flow fans 2 is large, the motors 3 can respectively drive the cross flow fans 2.
  • The cross-flow-fan device of the present disclosure uses a modular design for forming longer cross-flow-fan devices, wasting less labor and time to serially connect the cross flow fans. Also, the cross flow fans 2 of the present disclosure share a single housing 1 which is an extruded aluminum piece which has preferred rigidity, strength, is light weight and easy to transport. The modular design of the present disclosure facilitates adjustment of length and adjustments of motor and blade quantities. The production is simplified and the cost is lowered.
