Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application claims the benefit of U.S. provisional application No. 61/835,241, filed Jun. 14, 2013, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to pants and, more particularly, to individual pant sleeves.
  • Currently, when one has difficulty putting on pants there is not much to do other than to ask for help or find ways to assist in the action of putting the pants on. People that are in wheelchairs or some other incapacitation, require assistance that sometimes leads to issues considering the person's weight and level of incapacitation. People, who have a brace or other addition to one leg, may want to be able to cover up their other leg if possible. Additionally, when wearing a skirt or dress, sometimes it would be beneficial to be able to put on pants to keep one's legs warm in places such as in an individual's car while traveling, such as when a person is commuting to work.
  • As can be seen, there is a need for an individual pant sleeve that may be put on and secured easily as one sleeve or used as a pair of sleeves.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In one aspect of the present invention, a individual pant sleeve comprises: a individual pant leg having a top end and a bottom end; and a first retainer mechanism attached to the top end, wherein the first retainer mechanism removably secures the individual pant leg in position.
  • In another aspect of the present invention, a method for substantially covering a leg of a person comprises: pulling an individual pant sleeve onto a leg of a person, wherein the individual pant sleeve comprises a individual pant leg having a top end and a bottom end, and a first retainer mechanism attached to the top end of the individual pant leg; and removably securing the individual pant sleeve onto the leg of the person.
  • These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention shown in use;
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention; and
  • FIG. 3 is a section detail view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention along line 3-3 in FIG. 2.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
  • Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides an individual pant sleeve that includes an individual pant leg having a top end and a bottom end. A first retainer mechanism may be attached to the top end. The first retainer mechanism may removably secure the individual pant leg in position. A second retainer mechanism may also be attached to the top end of the individual pant leg. The individual pant sleeve may be removably secured on a leg of a person. A second individual pant sleeve may be removably secured to a second leg of the person.
  • The present invention may be used to place individual pant legs on an operator. In situations where the operator may have limited mobility, such as in a wheelchair or the like, the individual pant leg may be used for ease of coverage of the operator's legs. The individual pant leg may be used for people who are wearing dresses, skirts, shorts, or the like, for temporary coverage of their legs. The individual pant leg may allow for style while providing convenience. The individual pant leg may help provide dignity to the operator. By not connecting the individual pant legs, a provider may have easy access for handling processes such as when a patient has to relieve themselves, and the like.
  • As is illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 3, the individual pant leg 10 may have a top end 11 and a bottom end 13. The individual pant leg 10 may be made from a material such as cotton, polyester, a blend of materials, or the like. Along the top end 11 of the individual pant leg 10 may be a first retainer mechanism, such as, but not limited to, an elastic rim 12. The elastic rim 12 may hold an elastic band 20. The elastic band 20 may be operable to cinch the top end 11 of the individual pant leg 10. In certain embodiments, a second retainer mechanism may be attached to the top end 11 of the individual pant leg 10 to additionally secure the individual pant leg 10 in place. The second retainer mechanism may be a fastener such as, but not limited to, hoop and loop fastener 16 attached to a strap 14, or the like. In certain embodiments, the individual pant leg 10 may include at least one pocket 22. The bottom end 13 of the individual pant leg 10 may have a finish such as, but not limited to, a hem, a cuff, or the like.
  • A method of using the individual pant leg 10 may include the following. The individual pant leg 10 may be pulled over a leg of an operator 18. The operator 18 may pull the individual pant leg 10 to a desired position along the leg. In certain embodiments, the first retainer mechanism and the second retainer mechanism may allow for the positioning of the top end 11 of the individual pant leg 10 around the upper thigh of the operator 18. The operator 18 may then place a shoe, a sock, or the like on the foot to complete a look. A second individual pant leg 10 may be placed on the other leg of the operator 18 and the process may be repeated. The individual pant leg 10 may be worn with a long shirt, or the like, that allows for others to view the operator 18 as if the operator 18 had on a full pair of pants. Each individual pant leg 10 may be taken off or put on with relative ease. In certain embodiments, the operator 18 may just use one individual pant leg 10.
  • The present invention may be used by individuals. Organizations such as hospitals, nursing homes and the like may provide the individual pant leg 10 to their patients. The individual pant leg 10 may be made in various pant sizes, colors, materials, and the like. The individual pant leg 10 may be used when access may be needed, such as when a patient needs help relieving themselves. A care taker may have immediate access versus having to deal with taking off a full set of pants, leggings, or the like. The operator 18 may be able to go out in public without exposing themselves. The individual pant leg 10 may be made from a material used for dress pants, or khakis, or the like.
  • It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
