Abstract

The invention relates to a flood control device with direct sensing and control. The flood control device consists of a float which is connected with a flood barrier sheet and the flood barrier sheet will be pulled up by the float according to the flood water level. The flood barrier sheet is fixed at the support frame by having flaps. The flaps are filled by compressed air. The flood barrier sheet has a rounded ball shape protruding edge at four sides of the sheet which will be fully secured from slip out due to the pressure exerted from the flood water by compressed air filled flaps. The flood control device is anchored onto the ground by having a shaft (which is inserted into the hole of the bottom piece through a hard rubber ring at shaft end and groove at the bottom piece). A stand is anchored onto the ground and connected to the support frame of the flood control device with metal structure to prevent from collapsing due to force from the flood water.

  • FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a flood control device with direct sensing and control, more particularly to control the flood by using a float which will rise according to the flood water level.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Global warming has become a very important topic globally. One of the global warming effects is flood. Flood occurs more frequent nowadays and the magnitude is getting worse. This is due to many factors including over developing, rubbish, sewage system etc.
  • Flood has become more and more serious in city either big or small. There are many types of flood either flash flood or predictable flood but all floods are damaging.
  • The objective of the present invention is to control the flood in the most economical way and it can be installed anywhere in the shortest time possible.
  • Still another objective of the present invention is to protect human lives and prevent the properties either residential or commercial from damage. This is very important because it will provide a better environment for living and investment.
  • These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from a consideration of the following specification and claims.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • There are many devices for sensing and monitoring the flood, however the flood can be controlled by combining the sensing and control together.
  • The flood can be controlled in more economical way without inventing heavily onto the metal or concrete structure like most of the flood control devices in the market.
  • The flood control device can be installed almost anywhere where it is required because it requires very little space.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Other objects, features, and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following description when read with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the drawings, wherein like reference numerals denote corresponding parts throughout the several views:
  • FIG. 1 shows the front view of the flood control device.
  • FIG. 2 shows the flood barrier sheet (12) with rounded ball shape (19) protruding edge at 4 sides of the sheet and it will be fully secured from slip out due to pressure exerted from flood water by having compressed air filled flaps (17).
  • FIG. 3 shows the mechanism of operation for the flood control device which the float (20) is connected with the flood barrier sheet (12) with a cable (21) and guided by 4 gear rollers (22) and the flood barrier sheet (12) will be pulled up by the float (20) according to the flood water level (23).
  • FIG. 4 shows the side view of the flood control device focusing on the shaft (26) with hard rubber ring (28) which will be inserted into the groove (29) at the bottom piece (30) by pushing hard in order to have a perfect seal to avoid water from seeping through and it shows the flood control device is preventing from collapsing due to force of the flood water (27) by connecting the stand (24) with a metal structure (25).
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • In the following detailed description, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the invention. However, it will be understood by those of ordinary skill in the art that the invention may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known methods, procedures and/or components have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the invention. Reference will now be made in detail to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
  • With reference to FIG. 1, a flood control device (10) comprises a base (11), a support frame (13) and flood barrier sheet (12).
  • The base (11) will be embedded into the ground (14). It serves as the main base of the flood control device (10) and it has the capability of accommodating a roller in order to roll in the flood barrier sheet (12).
  • The support frame (13) consists of a pair of poles (13 a, 13 b) wherein the pair of poles (13 a, 13 b) with its bottom portion (15) extended into the ground (14) and its upper portion upwardly extended to a predetermined height for receiving a transverse bar (13 c). It serves as the major structure of the flood control device (10) where it holds the flood barrier sheet (12) in place by having a compressed air filled flap (17).
  • The flood barrier sheet (12) is made of PVC fabric or material which is tough, not easily torn, 100% waterproof and ability to withstand very high water pressure.
  • With reference to FIG. 2, the flood barrier sheet (12) has its two side edges, top and bottom edges formed with round ends (19) where it will be hold by the compressed air filled flaps (17). This will prevent the flood barrier sheet (12) from slipping out due to pressure exerted from the flood water.
  • The flood barrier sheet (12) will have one end attached to the base (11) and the other end attached to the transverse bar (13 c). The flood barrier sheet (12) will be attached to the transverse bar by at least one holder (16).
  • With reference to FIG. 3, in another embodiment of the invention, the flood barrier sheet (12) is connected with a float (20) by a cable (21) which will be guided by four gear rollers (22). The flood barrier sheet (12) will be pulled up by the float (20) according to the flood water level (23). The cable (21) will be guided by the gear rollers (22) through the inner hollow part of the support frame (13 a).
  • With reference to FIG. 4, the support frame (13) can be installed by having a shaft (26) with its end to be inserted into the hole of the bottom piece (30). The shaft (26) end will have a hard rubber ring (28) which will be slotted perfectly with the groove (29) at the bottom piece (30). The shaft (26) will be pushed hard so that the hard rubber ring (28) of the shaft (26) end will fit perfectly into the groove (29) at the bottom piece (30). This will prevent the flood water from seeping through. The shaft (26) can be round, flat or any shape.
  • The bottom piece (30) can be made of hard rubber and it will be anchored securely onto the ground (32) with bolting (31).
  • The flood control device can be prevented from collapsing due to the force of the flood water by installing a stand (24) which will be anchored on the ground (32) and connecting to the support frame (13) with a metal structure (25).
  • As will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, the present invention may easily be produced in other specific forms without departing from its essential characteristics. The present embodiments is, therefore, to be considered as merely illustrative and not restrictive, the scope of the invention being indicated by the claims rather than the foregoing description, and all changes which come within therefore intended to be embraced therein.
