Abstract

The objective of this invention is to enable a rapid construction of affordable, disaster-resistant real estate structures. Inventors present a building block construction of an ornamental shape and design as described herein, a corresponding interlock system, and a method of assembling novel structural elements and elements of known design into a cohesive building structure. The novel construction blocks, interlocks and panels form a cooperatively organized communicating chamber for receiving a cement-based substance, for example a cement-based concrete or mortar mixture, hence comprising a monolithic building structure.

Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE
  • The present application is a Continuation-in-Part of U.S. application Ser. No. 14/093,334 filed on Nov. 29, 2013 which claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/791,080, filed on Nov. 29, 2012, the disclosures of which are expressly incorporated by reference herein in their entireties.
  • FIELD OF INVENTION
  • The invention relates to the construction industry, particularly to improvements in building blocks and the connection of the building neighboring blocks to each other for the purposes of assembling columns and walls.
  • BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • Several designs of construction blocks and related building systems were invented in the past. Conventional masonry blocks are aligned manually with the use of a mortar mix, often with a degree of error resulting in misalignment leading to construction defects. Masonry work requires skilled labor to keep walls properly aligned in order to provide for a required building geometry.
  • Numerous inventors have designed interlocking blocks and alignment tools in the past. During the patent search, inventors came across U.S. Pat. No. 4,228,628 to Schlomann which discloses the use of sockets in neighboring surfaces of the blocks. Another U.S. Pat. No. 4,237,670 to De Waele claims use of blocks of interlocking shape. A U.S. Pat. No. 7,461,490 to Toledo claims use of an alignment tool in addition to a proprietary shape. A U.S. Pat. No. 4,514,949 to Crespo claims use of a proprietary interlocking system for building walls. However, the prior art blocks have fixed rectangular shape and middle partition, hence failing to provide for a required building geometry. The prior art systems fail to provide adequate means of overlaying a ceiling slab and connecting said slab into a building structure. The prior art construction methods fail to provide adequate means for building a bearing wall of the building rapidly, easily, and reliably.
  • The present invention presents a construction block and interlocking construction system that enables a rapid construction of housing shells from building blocks, interlocks, and building panels of novel design described herein.
  • OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
  • The main objective of the present invention is to provide building construction system that would enable a person to rapidly erect a quality building in a structurally secured and economically efficient way.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The building blocks of an ornamental shape and design comprise a bearing wall by being interlocked with the use of stand-alone interlocks, which align the blocks in an order necessary to achieve a required building geometry. The interlocks are positioned horizontally, and are connected to vertical rods with the use of placeholders of a unique design. The construction panels of unique shape and design are positioned horizontally and interlocked into the walls and columns. The unified interlock/rod/fastener system is incorporated into a cement-based substance (for example concrete or mortar), hence reinforcing the building and forming the seismically-stable, hurricane-resistant, and flood-resistant, fire-proof structure. The related methodology allows constructing a building with the use of unskilled labor and construction machinery.
