Description
- This application claims the benefit of the provisional application 61/762,409 filed on Feb. 8, 2014.
- The disclosure relates to bracelet assemblies and more particularly pertains to a new bracelet assembly for indicating a status of a wearer of the bracelet assembly to others viewing the bracelet assembly.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a panel having a front side and a back side. A tether is attached to the panel and forms a closed loop with the panel. The front side of the panel has a plurality of indicia markings thereon. A covering is mounted on the panel and is movable on the panel. The covering has an aperture extending therethrough. The aperture is alignable with one of the indicia markings such that only a selected one of the indicia markings is viewable through the aperture in the covering.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a personal status indicating bracelet according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure having a cover removed. -
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure taken along line 3-3 ofFIG. 1 . - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 3 thereof, a new bracelet assembly embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 3 , the personalstatus indicating bracelet 10 generally comprises apanel 12 that has afront side 14, aback side 16 and aperimeter edge 18. Theperimeter 18 includes afirst edge 20, asecond edge 22, athird edge 24 and afourth edge 26, wherein the first 20 and second 22 edges are positioned opposite of each other. Thepanel 12 may be elongated along a line extending between the first 20 and second 22 edges. Thepanel 12 may have a generally rectangular shape as shown in the Figures or may be formed of alternate shapes. Further, thepanel 12 may have an arcuate back for contouring to a person's wrist. Thepanel 12 is likely to be comprised of a generally rigid material such as plastic, graphite, metal, glass, wood, ceramic or the like. Partially flexible elastomers may also be utilized. - A
tether 28 is attached to thepanel 12 and forms a closed loop with thepanel 12. Thetether 28 may have a pair of ends attached to the first 20 and second 22 edges. Thetether 28 is configured for being positioned around a person's wrist. Thetether 28 may have a break therein to define a first section and a second section. Acoupler 30 releasably couples together the first and second sections. Thetether 28 may be comprised of a resiliently stretchable material and thereby not require a break and acoupler 30, however it may alternatively be comprised of leather, metal links or other conventional bands used with bracelets. Thecoupler 30 may comprise a clasp such as, for example, a clasp known as a “lobster claw” clasp. Thepanel 12 may includeopenings 32 to facilitate engagement with the tether. - The
front side 14 of thepanel 12 has a plurality ofindicia markings 50 thereon. Themarkings 50 may be aligned with each other along a line extending between the first 20 and second 22 edges. Theindicia markings 50 may include any combination of indicia markings indicating different personal statuses or emotions. For example, theindicia markings 50 may include a letter S, a letter T, a letter C and a question mark relating to a person's relationship status. Thus, the letter S would indicate “single,” the letter T would indicate “taken” or in a relationship, the letter C would indicate “crush” or interested in a person, and the question mark would indicate a secret and the wearer does not want others to know their relationship status. - A
covering 34 is mounted on thepanel 12 and is movable on thepanel 34. The covering 34 has anaperture 36 extending therethrough. Theaperture 36 is alignable with one of theindicia markings 50 such, at one time, that only a selected one of theindicia markings 50 is viewable through theaperture 36 in the covering 34. Thecovering 34 may be mounted on thepanel 12 in a conventional manner. In one embodiment, thecovering 34 may include a pair offlanges 38 positioned inelongated slots 40 extending in the third 24 and fourth 26 edges such that theflanges 38 may slide along theslots 40. - In use, a user of the
assembly 10 places theassembly 10 on their wrist to be worn in a conventional manner. The user may select their personal status by moving the covering 34 such that the self determined indicia marking 50 is displayed through theaperture 36. The covering 34 may be frictionally engaged with thepanel 12, for example by having theflanges 38 frictionally engage an interior surface of theslots 40 or with a combination of indents and detents, to prevent its unwanted movement with respect to thepanel 12. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
