    BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • Provisional patent filed Oct. 24, 2011 Application No. 61/550,639
  • Wood floor refinishing is done by a floor sander which consist of a drum turned by a motor. The drum has sand paper attached to it in various ways sleeved cut paper or a belt. Older floors typically has to be sanded three times. Newly installed wood floors require two or three sandings. Running the sander over the wood floor separately with each grit course medium and then fine requiring many hours on small projects days on average projects weeks on larger projects Utilizing present invention floors new or old only has to be sanded one time. Saving many man hours and trips to do the work.
  • FIELD OF INVENTION
  • The invention applies to floor sanders.
  • PRIOR ART
  • Has multiple sanding heads utilized but not with a common piece of sand paper but not utilizing the process described within.
  • In most cases in the prior art what is done a course grit sander moves over a floor followed up with a fine grit sander and this requires a little less then twice the time of utilizing the present invention
  • The invention provides two or more sanding papers tied together with the seal or manufactured as a single unit with course grit adjoining fine grit in such as way that the course grit may sand the floor followed by the fine grit at the same time. The invention also is an anti-chatter paper which causes less vibration in the way the paper is tied together and or the padding.
  • Method of padding the sand paper and or the backing of the sand paper is also described which allows the pressure on the fine grit and course grit to be buried in accordance with the requirements with making contact with the grits of two or more different textures.
  • While padding is the word that is used it may also be accomplished by having more resin or thicker paper or backing by one or the other of the two or more grits as long as those sand papers are tied together by the same sand paper.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 shows sand paper on a roll with two different grits for use with the invention.
  • FIG. 2 shows back view of paper cut off a roll with anti-chatter seam tape. For use on a floor sander.
  • FIG. 3 shows sand paper made into a belt or sleeve with three different grits
  • FIG. 4 shows an alternate embodiment where there is a gradual transition between the course and finer grits
  • FIG. 5 shows sand paper made into a belt.
  • FIG. 6 Shows a belt floor sander holding a belt.
  • FIG. 7 shows a drum which would hold a sleeved sand paper
  • FIG. 8 shows a drum which holds sand paper cut from a roll FIG. 8-A exploded view shows where paper attaches to drum which would not need a seal or seam tape to tie the paper together the drum it self acts as the seal on a drum floor sander. The drawing is representative only, it being only a matter of having a drum which can hold the sand paper to be used as described herein.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EXEMPLARY EMBODIMENTS
  • As can best be seen by reference in FIG. 1 with a sanding paper which has two grits 60 intermediate grit (B). 100 fine grit (A). FIG. 2 Back side of cut paper off of roll joined by seal or seam tape (1). FIG. 3 which has at least two but in this case three grits being a 40 course grit (C), an 60 intermediate grit (B) .and a 100 fine grit (A). on a sanding belt or sleeve which may be three separate papers connected by seals (1) and seals (2) running the width of the sand paper holding them together and they may be made into a circular belt as shown in FIG. 3 by a third seal (2) .running the width as oppose to the other two seals which run the length of the belt (1). In this FIG. 6 there is a belt floor sander with a drum (4). With a top roller tensioner (5) .to support the belt. Also an electric motor (8).to drive the drum (4).
  • FIG. 8 is a typical drum of a floor sander to support paper cut from a roll of paper as shown in FIG. 1
  • In order to provide that the grits of varying heights can be pushed at the right pressures against the floor using a motorized sander FIG. 6 shown in (4), a series of backing pads or thicker resin/sand paper FIG. 1 pad thin sand paper or resin (A) and a pad thicker sand paper shown in FIG. 1 (A) can be used similarly in other embodiments shown in FIG. 3 a sander pad or paper (3) a medium sander pad (3-1) and a pad less sander paper backing (3-2) may be used so that thinner or thicker grits may be pushed to the extent necessary in order to make the floor sanding process work better.
  • In FIG. 4 a transition which may be a ramp allows for the gradual transition between, for example item (A) (B) and item (C).
  • FIG. 2 shows seal seam tape (1) which will tie example (3-1) and (3-2) together to create a more rigid sand paper
  • In this case the invention also includes the process of utilizing a single belt to do at Least two sanding operations simultaneously in order to save time whereby the sander moves in a single direction across the floor engaging a course grit (C) and then the intermediate grit (B) followed by fine grit (A).
  • It may be described as a sanding paper for use with a sander having one direction sanding comprising a sanding paper having a length and a width and a first surface and a second surface joined together and running parallel along the length of the paper wherein the first surface is disposed on the sander to apply to the floor first and the second to follow immediately thereafter and wherein the first surface has a grit which is more coarse than the second surface. The sanding paper with two grits range from 40 to 60 grit (B). FIG. 1 from 80 to 120 (A). FIG. 4 The sanding paper utilizing three grits first grit is a grit between 24-40 and the second grit is between 40-60 and third between 60-120 grit.
  • EXEMPLIFICATION Example 1
  • Test area 300 square feet white oak flooring using 8 inch belt sander used standard off the shelf 40 grit for first sanding. Had the said multi grit belt manufactured the company adjusted the amount of resin on the paper to make the sand paper the same thickness as so the two grit were even the so called seal or seem tape was Kevlar with two grits only 60 grit and 100 grit FIG. 2)
  • Sanded the floor with the present invention which require half the time of prior art. Also the sand paper solved another huge problem in the wood floor refinishing industry Normally after a floor is sanded with a drum or belt sander the wood floor has what is called chatter marks in the floor which is caused by the paper and belts vibrating. which requires more time using a disk sander to remove the chatter marks from the wood floor. the test showed that the paper being in two pieces as in FIG. 2) that the seal or seam tape made the sand paper more rigid and did not vibrate as much which caused less chatter as so that the chatter marks was no longer visible.
