Thedegree of curvature of thebody portion of the under side I4 is slightly less than that of the covering it so that a crescent-shaped slit oropening is'provided within which the tip portion of the finger nail may be inserted. Due to the fact that'the spacing between the covering 13 and theunder side l4 gradually narrows down towards the outer edges of the device, as clearly shown in Figs. 4 and '5, it will be seen that when the device is pushed on the tip portion of the finger nail, the forward edge of the latter will wedge between the covering I3 and the underside it, whereby the device is securely held in position on the finger nail, As will benoted from Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawing, the underside M: is relatively thinner than the covering i3 sothat as the finger nail is-inserted in position in the device the under side 14 will tend to give without deforming the covering I3. The under side I4 is made of a material having sufiicient resiliency so that when the covering l3 by the inserted nail, it will be placedunder tension and bear tightly up against the under side of the tip portion of the finger nail; To obtain the desired spring or fastening result I preferably make the under side Moi relatively thin metallic material, although other materials may be used to equal advantage. It will'be thus seen from the above description that the device can bereadily and easily attached to or removedfrom the tip portion of the finger nail; and while mounted therei on will be securely held to the tip portion of the finger nail without any dan'ger of falling off during' usage.

A device adapted to be mounted on a natural finger nail comprising a substantially crescent-shaped covering section adapted to overlie the outer surface of the tip portion of the finger nail, and a similarly shaped section adapted to be inserted under the tip of the finger nail, said covering section and said under section being curved in transverse section so as tosnugly engage with the upper and under surfaces, respectvely, of the tip portion of the finger nail and being secured together at the outer edge portions thereof so that the outer edge portion of a finger nail will be wedged therebetween.

A device adapted to be mounted on a natural finger nail, comprising a covering section adapted to snugly overlie the outer surface of a finger nail and composed of relatively stiff material, an inwardly extending flange provided on the under side of the outer edgeportion of said covering section, and a relatively flexible under, section'supported in inwardly flexed condition between said covering section and said flange, said under section being adapted to yieldingly resist insertion of the device on a finger nail and to tightly engage with the under surface of the finger nail when the device is in position thereon.

A device adapted to be mounted on a naturalfinger nail, comprising a substantially crescent-shaped covering section adapted to overlie the outer surface of the tip portion of a finger nail, and a similarly shaped section secured to said covering section and adapted to be inserted under the tip of the finger nail, said covering section and said under section being curved in transverse section. so as to snugly engage with the upper and under surfaces, respectively, of the tip portion of the finger nail, the transversely curved space between said sections gradually increasing in thickness toward the rear thereof, so that when the tip portion of the nail is inserted in the device, the forward portion thereof will be wedged between said sections.

A device adapted to be mounted on a natural finger nail, comprising a substantially crescent-shaped covering section adapted to overlie the outer surface of the tip portion of a finger nail, and a similarly shaped section secured to said covering section and adapted to be inserted under. the tip of the finger nail, said covering section and said under section being curved in transverse section so as to snugly engage with the upper and under surfaces, respectively, of the tip portion of the finger nail, the degree of curvature of the covering section being increasingly greater than that of the under section, so that a tion and said under section being curved in transverse section so as to snugly engage with the upper and under surfaces, respectively, of the tip portion of the finger nail, the transversely curved space between such sections having greater thickness at the rear edge portions of said sections' than at the forward edge portions thereof, so that the finger nail will be wedged therebetween.

A device adapted'to be mounted on a natural finger nail, comprising a covering section adapted to overlie the outer surface of a natural finger nail, and an under section secured at its outer edge portions to the outer edge portions of said covering section and adapted to .be inserted under the tip of the finger nail, said covering section and said under section being both longitudinally and transversely curved, the degree of transverse curvature of that portion of the covering section which liesdirectly above the rear end portion of said under section, being substantially greater than that of the latter.

A device adapted to be mounted on a natural finger nail, comprising a relatively rigid covering section, adapted to overlie the outer surface of a natural finger nail, and an under section secured at its outer edge portion to the outer edge portion of said covering section and adapted to be inserted under the tip of the finger nail, said under section being relatively more flexible than said covering section and adapted to tightly engage with the under surface of the finger nail when the device is inserted thereon, said covering section and said under section being so formed relative to each other that a transversely curved tapering space is formed therebetween, the degree of transverse curvature of that portion of the covering section which lies directly above the rear end portion of said under section being substantially greater than that of the latter.
