Description
- 1. Technical Field
- The present disclosure relates to a device which prevents exposed fasteners from hurting people.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- Fasteners may be used to mechanically join two or more parts of a device together. After assembly, a distal end of the fastener may protrude or be exposed from the device. Some one may be hurt by the exposed fastener particularly when moving the device.
- Many aspects of the embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present disclosure. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a portion of a device according to an exemplary embodiment. -
FIG. 2 is an exploded isometric view of the portion of the device ofFIG. 1 . - Embodiments of the present disclosure are described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 , a portion of adevice 1 according to an exemplary embodiment is illustrated. Thedevice 1 includes ahousing 10, asupport member 20 retained within thehousing 10, and afastener 30 to secure thesupport member 20 to thehousing 10. In the embodiment, thedevice 1 is an optical disc player. - The
housing 10 includes acover 11 and abase 12 coupled with each other. Thecover 11 and thebase 12 cooperatively define a receiving space A for receiving thesupport member 20. The receiving space A also accommodates electronic components, such as a printed circuit board (PCB) and a central processing unit (CPU). In the embodiment, thesupport member 30 is used to support some of the electronic components retained within thehousing 10. - Referring also to
FIG. 2 , thecover 11 defines arecess 13 and aprotrusion 14 protruding from a bottom of therecess 13. The height of theprotrusion 14 is less than the depth of therecess 13. Thecover 11 defines apositioning hole 16 adjacent to theprotrusion 14. Afastening hole 15 runs through theprotrusion 14 and the bottom of therecess 13. In the embodiment, therecess 13 and theprotrusion 14 are formed by stamping. - The
support member 20 defines a throughhole 21 aligned with thefastening hole 15 and includes apositioning post 22 extending through thepositioning hole 16. - The
fastener 30 includes ahead 31 and ashank 32 connected to theshank 31. The diameter of theshank 32 is less than the diameter of theshank 31. Theshank 32 extends through the throughhole 21 and is screwed into thefastening hole 15. Thus, thesupport member 20 is fixed to thehousing 10 by thefastener 30. Therecess 13 and theprotrusion 14 thus prevent a distal end of thefastener 30 from being open or exposed and hurting people. - While various embodiments have been described and illustrated, the disclosure is not to be constructed as being limited thereto. Various modifications can be made to the embodiments by those skilled in the art without departing from the true spirit and scope of the disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
