Description

    BACKGROUND
  • The present invention relates to the dissemination of geographical information using a unique instrumentality and method, specifically a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information in combination with a pleasant tasting confection.
  • As a general rule, people like to travel, learn about, and discover new places as evidenced by the fact that a significant portion of the Gross National Product (GDP) of the United States of America is related to the tourism and travel sector. According to the Office of Travel and Tourism Industries in the United States Department of Commerce, the tourism and travel industry represented 2.8% of the GDP in 2010. Equally as true is the fact that, people generally do not like to have bad breath. The U.S. Market for Gum, Mints, and Breath Fresheners is a multi-billion dollar a year industry.
  • Unless one wishes to rely on chance to discover the multitude of places of interest at a given locale, a map is an essential tool for most travelers.
  • Unless one wishes to risk having unpleasant smelling breathe, confections such as gum, mints, or other breath fresheners are typically consumed throughout the course of a day.
  • The majority of the confections on the market are packaged in disposable containers that serve only to market and brand the confections contained therein.
  • The majority of the confections and containers used in connection therewith on the market are unrelated to the specific geographic locale in which they are sold.
  • No known confections on the market incorporate location specific information in the packaging and containers in which they are sold.
  • In order to address these problems, the inventors conceived the present invention, The present invention comprises of a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information and confections comprising: a container sized and configured to house a map and confections, the container further comprising of a lid containing information referencing a known geographic location; a map sized and configured to be housed inside the container, wherein the map corresponds to the geographic location referenced on the lid of the container; confections sized and configured to be housed inside the container; and a protective sheath sized and configured to protect the map from direct contact with the confections.
  • An objective of the present invention is to provide a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information in the form of a map in combination with a pleasant tasting confection.
  • Another objective of the present invention is to provide a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information in combination with a pleasant tasting confection wherein the container housing the location specific geographical information and the confection provides location specific information relating to the geographical information contained therein.
  • Yet another objective of the present invention is to provide a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information in combination with a pleasant tasting confection wherein the location specific geographical information is protected from direct contact with the confection.
  • For the foregoing reasons, there is a need for a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information and confections comprising: a container sized and configured to house a map and confections, the container further comprising of a lid containing information referencing a known geographic location; a map sized and configured to be housed inside the container, wherein the map corresponds to the geographic location referenced on the lid of the container; confections sized and configured to be housed inside the container; and a protective sheath sized and configured to protect the map from direct contact with the confections.
  • SUMMARY
  • The present invention relates to the dissemination of location specific geographical information using a unique instrumentality and method, specifically a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information in combination with a pleasant tasting confections in the form of flavored chewing gum.
  • The kit for disseminating geographical information and confections comprises essentially of a container sized and configured to house a map, a map, a protective sheath and confections. The container further comprises of a lid containing information referencing a known geographic location such as a major city or the metropolitan area surrounding a major city. The map is sized and configured to be housed inside the container and the map corresponds to the geographic location referenced on the lid of the container. The confections are sized and configured to be housed inside the container. The protective is sheath sized and configured to protect the map from direct contact with the confections, thereby preventing the map from becoming sticky or otherwise covered with residue Or contamination from the confections.
  • DRAWINGS
  • These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with regard to the following description, appended claims and drawings where:
  • FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of one embodiment of the kit in a closed position; and
  • FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of one embodiment e kit in an open position with its component parts in plain view.
  • DESCRIPTION
  • As shown in FIGS. 1-2, one embodiment of the kit for disseminating location specific geographical information in combination with a pleasant tasting confection 10 is depicted. The kit for disseminating geographical information about a specific location in combination with a pleasant tasting confection 10 comprises of a container 100, a map 200, a protective sheath 300 and confections 400.
  • The container 100 is sized and configured to house a map 200 therein. The protective sheath 300 is sized and configured to house the map 200. The confections 400 are sized and configured to be housed inside the container 100. It is envisioned that the container 100 might be composed of aluminum, another easily malleable metal or metal compound with similar properties, cardboard or other materials with similar properties that are known in the art. In a preferred embodiment, it is envisioned that the container 100 might be substantially rectangular in shape although other geometric shapes and configurations for the container 100 are contemplated as well.
  • The container 100 defines a cavity 105 and further comprises a lid 110 containing information 120 referencing a known geographic location. The lid 110 is sized and configured to correspond to the cavity 105 of the container 100 so that when the lid 110 is in an open position (see FIG. 2) one can easily access the map 200 and the confections 400 housed within the container 100 and when the lid 110 is in a closed position (see FIG. 1) the lid 110 covers the cavity 105, thereby sealing the container 100 so that the map 200 and confections 400 remain inside the container 100.
  • It is envisioned that that the lid 110 of the container 100 might include location specific identifying information 120 including city names or prominent landmarks associated with a given locale so that the consumer can readily associate the container 100 with a given locale,
  • The map 200 housed inside the container 100 corresponds to the geographic location referenced on the lid 110 of the container 120.
  • It is envisioned that the map 200 sized and configured to be housed in the container 100 might be folded to reduce its size and contain information that corresponds to the location specific identifying information 120 appearing on the lid 110 of the container 100. By way of example, a container that includes an image of the Statue of Liberty on the lid might house a folded map 200 of New York City accompanied by a plurality of confections 400, also housed therein. It is further envisioned that the map 200 might include advertisement materials or photographs or information about upcoming events in the area corresponding to the location specific identifying information 120. The map 200 might also be composed of food grade quality material such that the map 200 may be in direct contact with the confections 400 and obviate the need for the protective sheath 300.
  • It is envisioned that the confections 400 housed inside the container 100 might be selected from the group consisting of chewing gum and mints; however, it is possible that the confections 400 might include other candy items such as fruit or cinnamon flavored candies,
  • The sticky nature of most confections 400 makes direct contact between the confection 400 and the map 200 undesirable and therefore, the inventor has included a protective sheath 300 to house the map 200 and prevent direct contact between the map 200 and the confections 400.
  • In operation it is envisioned that the method for disseminating location specific geographical information and confections using the kit 10 comprises of the steps of providing a container 100 sized and configured to house a map 200 and confections 400, providing a map 200 sized and configured to be housed inside the container 100, providing a protective sheath 300 sized and configured to house a map 200, providing confections 400 sized and configured to be housed inside the container 100, placing the map 200 inside the container, positioning the protective sheath 300 inside the container 100, placing the confections 400 in the container 100 containing the map 200 such that the map 200 is not in direct contact with the confections 400, and distributing the container 100 containing the map 200 and confections 400 to specific geographic locations.
  • It is envisioned that the map 200 may be folded in order to be housed in the container 100.
  • An advantage of the present invention is that it provides a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information in combination with a pleasant tasting confection.
  • Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides a kit for disseminating location specific geographical information in combination with a pleasant tasting confection wherein the container provides location specific information relating to the geographical information contained therein.
